I stopped into this liquor store a couple weeks ago while visiting Chicago. It was my very first day in the city. I only went inside to escape the light rain, but I ended up having the nicest experience with the two owners, a sweet older couple. They immediately made me feel welcome, chatting with me, giving me suggestions on places to check out in the city, and just radiating kindness. By the time I was ready to leave, it was pouring outside. They offered me a plastic bag to protect my things and encouraged me to stay until the rain slowed down. It was such a small gesture, but it really left an impression. While I was there I also noticed how warmly they greeted every customer who came in, and people were genuinely happy to stop by. This was such a memorable and heartwarming first impression of Chicago. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by this shop to say hello to the wonderful owners. I love the people & "deep dives" at Superior Wine & Liquor! I can call five minutes before they close (12:00am est by former Mayor Lori Lightfoot) & Arturo will happily delivery which ever libations my heart's desire! Or you can go in (on Clark at the corner at Chicago Ave). It's a great space with "deep" tequilas, bc tequila is really hot now! "Deep" varietals of wine, sparkling wine & Champagne! Any libation you need, I bet they have it. If they don't, they have ordered it for me! Just ask! They are all so nice & willing to help! Well damn. A (very small) part of the reason I liked this place was the fact that the guy behind the counter told me I look 19. For a gal nearing 30, I couldn't help but appreciate the flattery. But, apparently, per Mickey A.'s review below, he tosses the compliment out with regularity, and probably very little sincerity, which leaves me feeling just a bit cynical about it all. *sigh* Alas, there's alcohol here, so it's not a complete loss. The beer options are limited, but the hard alcohol options are extensive - and they offer mixers if that's your preference. The BEST thing about this place? They deliver. I'm not sure I've ever been that desperate for an adult bev, but you never know when the urge for a hot toddy in the dead of winter might hit. Right off public transportation stops, this convenient place is decent enough to pick-up last minute liquor/liquor run if you're in the area (or made a previous alcohol run to Binny's and don't feel like going back). The store has so-so sales. Though it's only been a couple of visits, I haven't seen as many good deals as I would have liked. Oh well. That's what I get for doing things so last minute. They also have non-alcoholic stuff (juices and soft drinks) for any mixers. Non-relevant note: The guy at the register complimented on how young I still look, which made my hectic day. read more

They've got a decent selection of liquors and wines, and the guys behind the counter are always super nice and if I want anything in particular they don't have (like a specific single malt), they can get it through their suppliers within a couple weeks. I've stopped by here a number of times - it is a convenient place to pick up something on the way home. The selection is decent - I'm always able to find a number of my go-to bottles of wine. Just moved to river north from Arizona, and came to the store to get supplies for my apartment warming party. The store had a great selection of alcohol with good prices. Today was my third and last visit here. I went here to get some cider to dull the irritation of work and while I was browsing and trying to decide on which brand I wanted, one of the associates approached me and said quite brashly "what's the problem here! You've been standing here all day!" And then he huffed, threw his hands in the air and rolled his eyes. Besides having nasty customer service, they have dodgy practices as well. There's a $10 minimum to use your credit or debit card. If it's below, the minimum they charge you a special $2 fee. Everything here is a dollar more than the products at Copperfield's just a block south. Avoid this place. If you like nasty customer service associates, likely illegal fees, homeless people dancing in the aisles a scant selection and high prices, then by all means go to Superior liquor. read more

I've been coming here for 3+ years and live nearby. They have a selection and along with booze, they carry some snacks and other food items. The owner is very pleasant and greats return customers by name. He appreciates loyal customers and will make suggestions/help you carry your bags/open the door for his customers.
