I've been here once a couple years ago and then I came last Monday for a field trip with our homeschool group. Normal price to get in is like $4 and $3 for feed. We paid $13 for our field trip and never again will I do this. This is basically a backyard with caged animals. I get it's a farm but at least put some effort in the look. Their "boutique/store" is easy to bypass. I didn't even know they sold things except for ice cream. The field trip guide took us around to feed the animals through the fence. When I came years ago they had a petting area the kids could go in and pet animals and feed some of the baby cows. They didn't offer that this time around. They also talked about cotton, had the kids juice a lemon and got to try a taste of milk. Definitely not worth $13. The animals looked sad...one of the pigs eyes were bleeding. I brought my four children to Superstition Farm mid-week in the morning. Based on the website, I was expecting a sweet little farm with some charming elements. My initial impression was disheartening. We pulled into a U-Haul parking lot. I almost drove away. There was no obvious signage for the "farm" entrance. Since my children were so excited to see animals, I decided to proceed with the outing. We walk into the entrance/storefront. No one was there to greet us. The store felt run down with broken refrigerator equipment and a hodge-podge of items. We exited the back of the store towards the animals. At this point, I was expecting to be greeted or directed, but we weren't. After what felt like forever, but was probably 5-8 minutes, I decided to leave. The entire environment felt "off" and under-kept. As soon as we walked back in the door, a young woman passed us and said, "How many?" to which I answered. She asks, "Do you want animal feed? How many?" That was the extent of her willing interaction. I think I had to ask her a series of questions like "how do we feed the animals? Which ones? How can we pet the animals?, etc. Ultimately, to discover it's not a petting zoo, you feed the animals through the fence and only the ones in the closest corral, and not to feed the pigs (like an afterthought). The experience lasted 5 minutes. We walked the grounds to find that their "garden," as stated on the website, was just a path around some overgrown landscape, with local birds flying in and out of some dirty puddles. They had signage stating "tortoises" this way, but we didn't see any. There was old play equipment that looked unstable. Our overall experience was pretty pathetic. I decided to look at the entry fee, $4 per person plus the cost of feed, as a donation to the rescued animals. I do not recommend touring it, sending your kids here for summer camp, or any of the various activities they offer, like hosting a birthday party or having a wedding. The thought of these occurring on the property feels cringeworthy. The only caveat I have, based on other reviewers, is that the experience may feel different when they host local events, bringing in boutique vendors and food trucks. As for your average day, it's an underwhelming experience. The property looks as though it once was something of value, but now seems dilapidated. read more

I was very disappointed with our visit. This was advertised as a petting zoo, but there was no actual petting allowed. Visitors could only feed the animals through a fence, which was not what we expected. Customer service was also very poor. When we arrived, the woman working only asked how many feed bags we wanted and did not engage with us further. The next interaction we had was when she yelled at us because people were having a meeting next door. We completely understand the need to be respectful of others, but her approach was rude and unprofessional. My daughter was especially disappointed because she was looking forward to interacting with the animals. Additionally, many of the animals appeared dirty and did not look well cared for, which was concerning. I recently visited Superstition Farm and was deeply saddened by the poor conditions in which the animals were kept. The enclosures were shockingly small, and I repeatedly witnessed goats getting their heads stuck in the pens--an issue that should have been addressed long ago to prevent ongoing distress. The water available for the animals was dirty, further adding to the concerning environment. The cows were kept in the smallest, most dismal enclosure imaginable, with no grass--just dirt and mud. It was disheartening to see baby pigs there as well, a sign that the farm does not spay or neuter all their animals. This isn't what I would expect from a facility that claims to prioritize animal welfare. To make matters worse, I learned (amongst many other horrific things) that the farm buys or trades most of their animals rather than rescuing them as implied by their mission statement. This visit was heartbreaking, and I would never return. I want to warn other animal lovers: if you're looking for a place that truly cares for their animals, this is not it. My boyfriend surprised me with a day date and he knows I love animals. Walking in they tell you it's a non profit and a little bit about the business and how the animals came to live there. I enjoyed hearing about the background and how much care seems to be involved. The animals seem healthy and well cared for and I love that some can be adopted. I especially fell in love with a baby goat named Dixie. She's adorable. There are also bunnies for adoption and other lovely creatures. It was enjoyable feeding the animals and petting them too. I also liked reading about each animal with the signs they were present near many of the enclosures. There are also many cool items inside the store like soaps, rocks, geodes, ice cream, and two friendly dogs who roam around the land. I highly recommend and I'll definitely be back. read more

I was looking for a petting zoo experience for my 3 year old and decided to check this place out. It is in far east Mesa across the street from an Amazon Warehouse. When you walk inside, you are greeted by someone who works there who charged us $4 per person (including my kiddo) plus $4 for a bucket of feed. Not a bad price considering how much some of the other kids activities in the area cost! In the small market room when you walk in, there are cages of rabbits and little chicks along the left hand wall. There is a refrigerator on the right that sells a few things including cheese. When you walk outside, there is a small cage with teeny tiny turtles. There are cages with goats on the right, donkeys in the middle, then further in the distance there is a cage with pigs in a mud pit and a fenced in area with ducks and chickens. I didn't see the peacock, but apparently there are three that have free range to roam around the grounds. On the day that I was there, some young female goats had broken out of their cage and one kept following me around (since I was holding a bucket of food) and tried to jump on my back! In the center area where you walk out of the market into the petting zoo, there are tarps overhead to keep it cooler and misters going. The larger animals didn't seem satisfied by the seeds and kernels in the feed I threw for them, so I asked the staff if the animals like carrots. They do and actually they said you can bring your own carrots with you to feed the animals! I think both the animals and my kiddo might be more interested in that! read more

My daughters had a great time (so did I)!! We wandered around the farm for a couple hours. There was plenty to do. We fed the baby goats with milk bottles that were for sale. There were also donkeys, sheep, goats, a miniature horse, chickens, a peacock, a dog, and a few cattle. We had a "tour" of the farm. The place is an absolute dump. The animals enclosures are entirely too small and unkept. The horses and cow are underfed. There is scarp metal, glass, and trash scattered all around. Definitely wouldn't consider this a safe place to let children run around and explore. This place was incredibly disappointing. The animals appear neglected and their living conditions are terrible. The donkeys had visible cuts on their faces and around their eyes, which were swarmed with flies. It was obvious they were uncomfortable, yet nothing was done when we brought it to the staff's attention. There is a major fly infestation throughout the property, likely due to poor sanitation. Pens were not cleaned properly, and feces haven't been cleaned up in awhile. The animals water was very dirty. This place claims to be an animal rescue, it feels more like a side project to their U-Haul business. The animals don't have adequate space, shade, or cooling options like misters, and their food and water conditions do not meet even the basic care standards. All of the animals appeared desperate for attention. At this point, it's hard not to question whether this operation is more about the nonprofit tax benefits than true animal welfare. These animals deserve better. I want to come back just to care for the animals myself. read more

This farm/petting zoo is AMAZING. They have a couple pens where you can connect with the animals up close and personal. Cookie and picante are our favorites Our toddler can chase the baby goats and chickens and we don't have to worry about him running too far away. We can never get him to leave. They have nice hay couches and a fire pit they light at night along with food and events. The country decor is so cute and the bathrooms are well taken care of! We've been to many farms and petting zoos especially with our little one and this is by far THE BEST. If your debating on making the drive or just curious about this place, DO IT. I have mixed feelings after visiting the Superstition Farm with my husband today. On a whim I decided we should check it out as it is close to home. I suppose I was expecting a bigger farm, but that's not a big deal - it is cheap and close enough to go in to feed the animals and take a quick stroll around. However, I was a bit dismayed by the condition of the farm and the animals. The farm and animals do not seem well taken care of. The animal's enclosures had filth coming out which appeared to have been accumulating for quite some time. Clutter, equipment, and animal feed were haphazardly placed about the farm. We came across a goat in distress that had its head stuck in a fence and it took us 15 minutes to locate someone who could help. The cows and horses are located adjacent to the goats, sheep, and pigs, and their enclosures appeared inadequate and dirty. I understand these are farm animals, but certainly the conditions here are not reflective of the quality and care that exists at other farms. It is nice to know that these are rescue animals, but the conditions here do make me wonder if the care given to them is appropriate. read more

We had a great morning at Superstition Farm! Our kids were so happy to feed goats, donkeys, chickens, and more. The various play areas were a big hit too. I was glad bathrooms were nearby, clean and well setup, since we have a potty training toddler. They have taco Tuesday every Tuesday which means entry is free! And they have a taco truck. As soon as you enter through the barn, they'll have animals waiting for you there. There animals were never cared for. Hoofs on the animals could cause issues. The animal could go lame. Check on the ester in the afternoon and you'll see it for yourself. I had the best time here! All of the animals are rescues so that was a huge perk for me! This is a small farm so you're getting the real life farm experience. The staff was all so friendly and informed me of all the animals that they had on the property that I could go see. It was amazingly affordable! It wasn't busy when I went so I was able to explore and have all the time I wanted to feed the animals. That was the best! I fell in love with the donkeys! Wonder was my favorite and is such a sweetie pie! This experience was the BEST animal therapy that filled my cup up, fed my soul, and grounded me. All of which I needed. I left so happy and told my family and friends about the wonderful time I had. In fact, my coworker visited the following weekend and she raved about it too! My son loved it. The farm was well maintained and affordable feed in addition to unlimited time to feed the animals. No crowds. My son enjoyed several animal interaction down to farm dogs. My two Kids loved the place! (Ages 5 and 8). Petting zoo animals are all rescue animals! Super friendly goats and the one noisy black sheep that just wanted to be feed! They give you food to feed the animals. Donkeys liked the carrots but hold on to the carrot because they will chop them out quickly. Tour on hay pulled tracker was rustic and farm like. Kids got to hold a chicken and bunny too. Tours are normally at 1030am but with summer heat we went early. We got to do the tour at 930am. Anthony is a sweetheart of an employee! My son has OCD and he was thrilled with the farms ongoings that he didn't mind getting a little dirty. Bring water because drinks are $2 each. Plenty of benches for a picnic afterwards. When we got there, the baby calf they had been born two days before was dying in front of our eyes with blood pouring out of it, but and we couldn't get the two people in the front store to help out. They were more concerned about collecting money. Well now I have proof that those people collecting money or having people pay themselves and not the farm that could be a reason why the farm is going out of business. I have pictures of who I've been mowed and how much and it was not the owner of the farm. I would not have looked into it, but I had such a bad experience with those two people that I had to check and make sure who I paid. read more

Went a few weeks ago, it's a little sad because the cows are in a few feet of their own poop and clearly do not like human interaction, same with the horses. The sheep and goats love people, or our food anyways. They were out of everything but Icecream in their general store so just go to sprouts for your raw milk if they don't have any.. it might be a better option anyways because the cow situation... but I hope during non business hours the animals are kept differently. Their pig, wiburt is adorable and semi friendly. The workers were very energetic and kind. This is a great farm, I hope a lot of people can stop by, especially with kids. We went a Christmas event. Met Santa Claus and got a picture with him. We saw some Christmas movies, Peanuts. Had ice cream handmade by them, mine was coffee, I bought licorice too. And we stood by s bonfire to warm back up. I got to see goats and a donkey that we got to feed, and they liked their little heads scratched. Awwwww I thought this was a fun Christmas stop. What a great hidden gem! I found out about Superstition Farms from another mom in a mom's group on Facebook and it's close by, so my husband and I decided to take our son this weekend. Prices were very fair and the young lady at the store was very sweet and helpful. We purchased admission and a couple buckets of feed. There were lots of animals to see and feed but our son's absolute favorite was Picante, the calm, sweet donkey. He was excellent with our son and allowed him to pet him while we fed him (Picante). We also loved seeing the goats and their young babies, chickens, sheep, tortoises, rabbits and pigs. We took our time and really enjoyed ourselves. Towards the end of our visit we purchased some fresh ice cream which was wonderful. My son was in absolute heaven and we will definitely be back again soon. read more

What an amazing little gem! Today was our second visit to the farm, first was about 6 months ago. This place is very reasonably priced and an amazing spot for a morning with young kids. My son is 18 months and we had so much fun seeing all the happy animals and giving them their 'treat' food. The farm hand 'Mark' was there today and he is incredible. Such a kind, knowledge, helpful man who truly cares about the farm and the animals. I asked him several questions as he was out refreshing the animals' water and making sure they were all doing ok. He talks to the animals as he does his tasks. You can tell he really loves them! He told us all about Picante--the sweetest gentle donkey who roams about enjoys guests and and the new babies to the farm, a lamb which is a few weeks old and a baby donkey which was 6 days old! It was a warm morning but they have misters and fans and shade for the animals. Definitely a great spot for a morning where you're trying to find something fun to do before nap time! If I could give this place 1000000x 0 stars I would! My fiancé and I live in Virginia due to him being in the Navy. Our first wedding venue canceled on us due to covid (understandable) but our second... let me just give you some insight. Superstition Farm, we had everything going as planned and even flew to Arizona to see it in person. Our wedding coordinator had quit a week later (I 100% have her back & see why she did and so will you). We were not contacted by anyone from the farm besides an email with the same invoice # as before but it had been altered with an additional $3,000. Mind you I had called & emailed numerous times trying to get in contact with someone ever since our previous wedding coordinator had quit because the wedding is approaching very quickly. We did not hear anything until 32 DAYS LATER! We tried to get a meeting with them ASAP but there were dealing with an "Animal Control Issue" (yes red flag we know) We were finally able to get on a phone meeting with the owner Casey Stechnij & farm manager + new event coordinator Lani Madison. Casey did not even let us introduce our selfs and started the call out with "I'm going to just rip the bandaid off and let you know we cannot do your wedding. Your expectations are way too high and you're asking for a $20,000 wedding." He also referred to our previous wedding coordinator & former superstition farm employee (the one that quit) as "Rain Man". So we had called our previous wedding coordinator to let her know the words he had said since she wasn't there to defend herself. Then she had let us in on some insight as well that previous weddings have been as low as $2,500 & as most as $6-8,000. So I'm very curious as to how our wedding expectations were for $20k but‍ and then we did a little research on Facebook and he posted this on his personal page. (I spoke less than 5 words to this man, with no cursing or rude language as this was still our venue still and trying to understand their reasoning for not answering us for so long) We are left speechless & appalled that this Business Owner is this unprofessional & rude attitude to clients. SOOOOOOOOO MUCH FUN! The 3 of us went to Superstition Farm for their tour last Saturday. No, we didn't have any kids with us but we may have had a better time than most of the kids. The beginning is a bit dry. You're in the "classroom" for a while learning about random facts related to diary cows. Moo. After that, it's a hay ride. Girls, let me give you one tip - Make sure you wear long pants or shorts that are long. Hay is very uncomfortable under your butt if there isn't enough padding. Anyway, the hay ride was entertaining but the best part had yet to come. Once the hayride was over, the "tour" was officially over. But everyone stuck around to check out the petting zoo. The animals were all so friendly and we got to feed them as well. There was a hodgepodge of creatures from a young cow to sheep to rabbits and even a turkey. Yum...just kidding. In addition, there's a black lab on the premise that was amazing. This dog would make an incredible soccer player. His reaction time is unbelievable - any team would be happy to have him as a goalie. After the animal bonding, we went to try flavored milk. Mine was butterscotch flavored and it was just ok. I was disappointed that the milk wasn't fresh from the farm but I guess it's not legal to serve unprocessed milk. Since we had a Groupon, we also had a chance to try Udder Delights ice cream. At $2.50 each, I would never pay for them individually. But seeing that it was included in my "deal," we enjoyed them a lot. Don't be embarrassed if you don't have kids. I wish there were 1/2 stars for ratings - I would give 3.5. (bumped up to a 4 to support local business). A 45min drive for a tour that was less than - I think it was about 30 mins. And it didn't even include watching any milking or the making or any dairy products at all?? A tractor took us up and down the rows of cows, while giving a description of their keep, instruction of their care, information on their lifespan & day-to-day life. you could try some milk afterwards (yippee) for an additional $1 to the $7.50 tour price. I did want to support the farm further, and did so by purchasing products such as milk, cream, butter and cheese. I guess I would (sorta) recommend it, it is fun and informative for the kiddies. But I would only do something like this like once/yr (ie: queen creek olive mill). read more
