Ten-hut on Hollywood Blvd and Las Palmas Ave... A local uniform, clothing, tactical and outdoor supply store... great for camping gear and accessories not to mention military style wear is at your service. The guys who run the store are really easy going and friendly. I stocked up on some camping essentials, including a portable lantern.. Eyeing a near air mattress for the future as they carry a few queens and even managed to find a nice deal on a shirt to support the troops. I usually pop in here once in a while when I'm in the area being a native tourist or when my special friend Art is in town who is obsessed with this shop and a few others on Hollywood Blvd, including the custom print t-shirt store next door. You can find street parking on the side streets and endure a very brief stroll depending on the time of day or day of the week as the area does get heavy with foot traffic. Most sales are final to my knowledge, but you wont be disappointed with your haul. They have some cool accessories at the register including swiss army knives/devices/tools, clips and so forth... Fair prices on boots, luggage and other good finds at the Supply Sergeant. There's lots of replicas and memorabilia decorated above on the ceiling hanging over and along the walls. Yelp 100 Challenge 2018 - # 27/100 So I find myself walking around in Hollywood, hands cold from the winter chill. My friend tells me 'there is a place that can fix that.' I was led to Supply Sergeant. There were lots of gloves to choose from but I didn't really know what kind to get and decided on a pair of Hurley. I'm not too sure about the price but then again this is Hollywood, definitely a tourist trap, although I've seen a few locals dropped in to browse around. Also I wanted to throw a shout out to the employees for being cool and helpful and they got a good taste in music/mask design One of the guys had a Mastodon mask which is a bad ass band you should listen to if you haven't already. This place is awesome. I scored a black hunting vest here for $20. They took $10 because the zipper was messed up and there weren't any others like it in size small. Made my Han Solo costume perfect. Retro! You can totally get a cheaper price online, but if you're going to hang out in Hollyweird anyway, or have to wait out the traffic to get back into the valley, this is a fun place to wander around. Just do it doing daylight hours, as you don't want to be on HB after dark. Full range of historic clothing and artifacts, with many reasonable reproductions. If they don't have it, they can find it. Customer service is personable and somewhat cautious, understandable in this high-tourist location, where there is an unusual percentage of high (by one substance or another) and homeless folks wandering around. Similar to Venice Beach with the calming sound of the surf replaced by the din of gridlocked traffic and tourist open-top double-decker buses with loud speaker blaring about the walk of fame. Give them a call if you are looking for a vintage item, so you can save a trip if you aren't going to be in the area anyways. They actually do answer the phone and try to be helpful. read more

This place is good but I wish they carried more original surplus as opposed to new brand name BDUs. No public restroom even for paying customers. (Which is understandable being right on the Blvd) Staff was pretty friendly to my kids so I count that as a Plus. Wow, this vintage and new age army supply store is the real deal! The store actually stocks authentic military captain hats. I glanced at one which was $50.00. I purchased a navy captain hat today for $14.00. The coolest part was browsing the U.S. Military Branch Patches wall which will aid in accessorizing the cap. Like many of the reviews of "The Supply Sergeant" have pointed out, this surplus store is not the best source for hard core military surplus. It is a great place to pick up outdoor gear, hats, gloves, boots, etc...some of which is surplus stuff. I personally prefer the mixture of commercial and military (surplus or "military style") items provided in this store. okay. wanted: real surplus combat boots. This place failed utterly. In the late 90s, I bought a pair of combat boots at the now defunct Santa Monica surplus store that was on Lincoln. I paid $20. Then, with my sewing machine, I added side zippers and a few buckle straps to make some awesome real leather punk boots. One day, they went missing from my closet, and, now, I felt the yearning to make a new pair. strike one: supposedly open at 10:30 am on Friday, but was still closed when I arrived at 11. parking is pay lot or metered, and metered is 1.5 min per quarter. Credit card capable meters, but I lost money because they weren't open when I could stop buy. I left and returned later that day. Frustratingly, most surplus stores SHOULD be called "army knockoff stores," instead. Especially this one. I don't know why other people would praise this store. It has three narrow aisles, filled, from what I saw, with all brand new "military style" merchandise. Even if it had been filled with surplus stuff, it's a pretty small store, about the size of your average post office waiting room. Once I found the corner with the boots, I found a small shelf with one pair of black combat boots that weren't my size. The only other surplus boots that I saw were rubber rain boots, and perhaps 15 pair of those. Above the surplus shelf was a wall of display boots like at any shoe store, only military style boots, if that's what you would like. strikeout for me. wasted a dollar on meters. Go somewhere else, like where you won't have to battle hollywood and vine tourist traffic or parking. I came here for water filtration devices because I was taking a trip to Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand and I didn't trust the water there. I figured that this would be where Rambo would get his supplies. Southeast Asia has parasites and bacteria that my digestive system isn't used to. You think I'm going to end up with bubble guts having to wipe my ass with a snow cone? No way, Charlie. I could try to go around distilling or boiling the water I drink, but it's just impracticable. Alternatively, I could put a drop of iodine in my water, but that tastes nasty. Plus, I drink too many Jack and Cokes with ice that I'm bound to get a bug. Well, they were out of water filtration systems. Rat bastards. Why don't you stock up with the real stuff rather than pander to tourists from Des Moins? But at least they were able to sell me some deet spray to keep away the mosquitoes. That actually came in handy. I darken their doorstep many times in a year. My purse(psst! black canvas shoulder bag) for the last 5 years has come from here. I have the most comfortable camo pants that I thought might be too bulky and busy but they are better than the fashion replicas you find in trendy shops. These guys are great! What a hidden diamond for Crossfit workout equipment. Cargo nets to climb, Sand Bags to carry, ropes to climb. Great prices of used army pants, t shirts and boots to work out in. It is surprising how comfortable the boots used in desert storm are to work out in. Who needs Uggs! This is the best Army Surplus Store in Los Angeles, to my knowledge. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They also have a store in Burbank, and if they don't have an item at their Hollywood location, they're happy to call and see if their Burbank location has it. I do props and wardrobe for the film industry, and much of the time it's cheaper to buy the gear here than it is to rent it- and easier to boot. read more

This store is by far the flagship for military outdoor apparel. So many rugged clothing for my camping and paintballing trips in the near future. I only have one big problem. I lived in Northern California and its not that easy for me to drive down to Hollywood to get my shopping list completed here at Supply Sergeant. Highlights: - Affordable. On this day (08/30/07) I found the sale racks full of "must-haves". More than a dozen military t-shirts that I could wear as a civillian with heavy duty thermal socks and a wide variety of heavy jackets and cold gear hats for the winter. - Its going to be Halloween in a few weeks, so I could imagine this place being a perfect spot if you want to get your commando outfit and hard to find authentic pins, medals, and stripes. - I'm not into the Airsoft guns but its another haven for all the "bb" hobbists. Sorry, they don't sell real hunting rifles for you deer killers. - Parking: I'd go ahead and park at the garage parking underneath the Kodak Theatre. I forgot to ask if they validate, but its worth the parking bucks. Unfortunately, good surplus stores seem to be a dying breed. Ten years ago and in the Midwest, I might not have claimed this as such a great shopping spot because it was like every other one. However, it ranks right up there now-a-days since the others have all closed shop. And it's generally a pretty friendly, helpful place as long as you don't come in with blatant disrespect for their merchandise (dare I mention any Hollywood/Highland tourists and their "G.I. Joe" impersonations as they mocked everything in O.D. Green). And as Jolie P. pointed out, their gear isn't necessarily the fashion replica junk you find everywhere else. In my opinion, if you can find actual "issue" surplus in a store, you're headed in the right direction. And there's plenty at the sergeant - some of it even on sale! read more

Was in this store today. I used to like going in here to look around even if I didn't buy anything, because they have some great gear. They also sell guns, and, I support the 2nd amendment. I do believe we need gun reform though, and here is a good example of why. As I said, I went into the Supply Sergeant today. A clerk was showing guns to two young men. I walked past, not bothered by their interest. At the end of the aisle, I turned to come back to the front of the store. As I am walking back up the aisle I am checking out merchandise on the shelves as I walk. Then I turn my attention to the area where the guys are looking at the weapons. Stunned, I find myself at that point staring down the barrel of a semi automatic weapon for a brief moment. The guy then moved the barrel over at his friend. The clerk on post did and said NOTHING! Now the gun was not loaded, but where is the safety education, and why wasn't the clerk teaching it? Furthermore, why are YOUNG men, (or women for that matter) who have no safety training, able to handle the guns in the store in the first place? You never point a gun, loaded or not, at someone. The only reason to do that is to commit murder. I had considered doing some firearm business with the Supply Sergeant, but now I will go elsewhere. The people who work here are rude, disrespectful, and disconnected to you the customer. If you have to go here of course do, but if you don't I personally in my opinion just being a consumer who experienced shopping there, I would not. Their Burbank location is no better. They do not accept returns. They do not respond to emails. Their lack of communication if you have any issues leaves one to believe they simply do not care about you. Why should they? They already have your money, so what if you find the product to your disliking. They permit exchanges, but even if you were to exchange up to where only $5 is left in the amount of items you get the original exchange for they will not give you the remaining balance in cash. If the item you purchased breaks or there is something wrong with it, and they do not have the exact same item in stock to exchange it for, its on you. You eat the payment. You do not get a replacement product. We bought a backpack, we brought it home, it had a hole in it. The hole was at a seam (stitch) so it grew when the pack was picked up. We brought item back to Hollywood location, they did not have the same one in stock, they said they would get in touch when the item was in stock, we emailed them every other day for 2 weeks, this happened early March, and STILL no word. We go to discuss the issue with them in person thinking too much time has passed person at register says "don't know what you are talking about and we do not accept returns" to resolve this issue we contact the manufacture of product, and without that effort this would not have been resolved. SUPPLY SERGEANT still has $100.00 of our well worked for money. No efforts have been made on their part to make this experience right. read more

Army surplus store. Came here to browse the unofficial army print clothing material more out of curiosity. Prices were decent.

This place is big, so if you like to browse, plan on spending a couple of hours. They had a good selection of ammo cans, but I ended up buying a European medic box that was also steel, but opened on the large side instead of the narrow side. Also, they sell flat paint in various colors if you want to do your own camouflage pattern. For some reason they close earlier than some of the surrounding stores. read more

If I could I'd give it no star's. We pulled up outside and I walked in and asked the guy for change for a dollar to feed the parking meter. He snarled at me and jerked open the drawer grabbed my dollar and threw the quarters at me. Then he looked at me and said ''next time go across the street to the damn pizza place and don't come here looking for change''. At that point I just wanted to walk away and not even return. I had a list of about 15 ting's I had to buy and they had most of them. I got my little stock pile together and walked up to the counter and the guy was astonished that I was actually there to buy something. He rang it all up and gave me the total (which was WAY over priced) and i looked at him and said oh I'm sorry i think I'll take my business to the pizza place across the street and walked out. I don't know how they have gotten such good reviews. I have been here numerous time's and have always gotten the same shitty service. My dad used to shop here all the time and stopped because the employees were dicks. read more
