You have my credit card information and approval to process payment on a monthly basis, as you have since summer of last year. So I really hope I don't hear back about "non-payment". If you like having communication with a contractor during a project forget it you will have to initiate/hound and may or may not get a response. If you ask... with what they think are too many questions... they will get annoyed and things get worse. Once you pay them the second big deposit work starts slowing down. We have had very nice days when they show up for an hour and leave and don't return for days or a week or more. If you opt for a concrete pool deck watch out for getting the Cool Crete they offer as the finish is very very rough on bare feet and inconsistent texture. Understand work defined in the contract and monitor what has been accomplished. We had $3,600 worth of work that required credit on the next payment we had to bring to their attention. With our project they didn't keep accurate records of color selections and asked us at least two times what we had chosen. If you don't want your yard to become an ashtray with cigarette butts all over tell them from the beginning. During the final hookups the autofill line was leaking because a 90 degree PVC connector was not connected properly or glued. Had to come back after 2 attempts of cleaning up plaster splatters and repaint most of the pool deck. I had to ask when salt generator was going to be connected and chemicals checked and adjusted. Also still waiting on final invoice of total cost which the Homeowner Insurance Company wants along with final inspection and survey. These are the guys... in order... My wife and I purchased our house in Dana Pointe in 2012. The house had been vacant for over a…read moreyear and the swimming pool was green and badly stained in a dark green color. We have wanted these stains removed since we moved in but were reluctant to have a company plaster the walls which is how we thought the stain removal would be done. Based upon recommendations from friends we called Curtis Nelson, the owner of Bright Blue Pools in Niceville, Florida. When Curtis arrived to give us a quote we were shocked to learn all that was possibly all that was needed was an acid wash of the walls and bottom. We were skeptical at first of Curtis's recommendation but with his 35 years in the pool business we agreed to have the pool acid washed. Curtis reassured us that the acid wash treatment would clear the stains and he was 100% right!!! Rarely does a business owner save you money with his recommendation. But this is what Curtis is about and how he operates, in every job opportunity. In our case, Curtis saved us over $10,000 by his honest assessment of the damage and by his desire to be truthful in our situation. He could have recommended a plaster redo of our walls but he didn't because he operates from a position of honesty. As knowledgeable of the pool business as Curtis is, his crew complements his work ethic by doing the required work to be done with professionalism and an extreme work ethic. The acid wash of our pool, about an 8000 gallon pool, was completed in ONE day! That's right ONE day and at an extremely reasonable cost! Although, he said he would be on site everyday, we never saw him while the 2 workers were there. One of his guys started draining the pool and then left the property only to return the next day for a short time before having to depart for a school/divorce meeting. Curtis's son Brandon arrived next and immediately shared with our other fencing subs on the property that he wanted to get in and out so he could have a three day weekend. Brandon proceeded to go and start working on the pool where he immediately started breaking our stair tiles with the tool he was using to chip away the plaster. Appeared to me to be related to him rushing thru the work. When I came out, I saw red tape on a couple tiles. When I asked him about it, he did not say he broke the tile, but instead said it fell off and he glued it back on. The next day my husband saw that the tile along with several others were damaged by the tool he was using. He then owned up to the fact he broke it and tried to cover up what had happened. We then spent days trying to find a 20 year old stair tile or even something that matched. Nothing! We are now at 2+ weeks of a drained pool and no progress when it was sold as a 2 day turn around. Now Curtis was getting aggressive with us and playing the victim card. Not sure what we did here. We agreed to just bull nose the steps and leave them without tile and get finished. Another day of promises to get back to us when we reached out to him again. He now said he would only finish if we paid him in full prior. The deal he gave us was no payment until work is finished because everyone loves his work. Our experience with Curtis was so stressful and the follow-up work cost us more just because of the mess his crew left us.

Avoid VIP Pool and Spa LLC and Jacob Shankland for pool service…read more I do not recommend doing business with Jacob Shankland or VIP Pool and Spa LLC. My experience was incredibly unprofessional. Weekly service was sporadic. He or his designated employee failed to show up for weekly service for 12 weeks over 10 months of service. Despite what is clearly stated in the service agreement, I never received a refund for the services that were never performed but paid for! Worse, he became non-responsive, to my inquiries. This is not just poor customer service--this is completely unethical business practice. Save yourself the frustration and choose a company that values professionalism, integrity, and honoring written agreements. Update: Jacob Shankland did reimburse me for missed service after I posted this review.
