I genuinely try to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume everyone is doing their best. Unfortunately, after today's experience, I feel like I need to say something. This is not our first visit. Our dog Goose has been here several times, and today was our puppy Maple's first visit. When I walked in this morning, there was no warm greeting or even a simple hello. The first things said to me by the groomers were, "Do you not get our texts?" and "We need you to be on time. We run a tight schedule." I walked in at 11:05. We are coming from Port Orchard, and when I received the text asking me to bring the dogs in earlier at 10:20, I was already on the road heading there. I understand that being on time is important, but the attitude I was met with immediately was completely unnecessary and set the tone for the entire visit. During the consultation, I explained what I wanted for both dogs. Because I was apparently considered late, I told Danielle that if she didn't have time to give Goose a full haircut, I at least wanted his face, eyes, and chin trimmed and for her to do whatever she could with the time available. Maple's groomer (will call her the lady with purple hair) asked if this was her first visit and I explained that it was and that she is about 6-7 months old. She then told me that I should have gotten her in much sooner for haircuts and to get her used to grooming. I explained that we had actually been cancelled on multiple times by them and that I booked her as soon as she had all of her vaccinations. I wasn't going to argue with her, but I found the comment unnecessary and condescending. I completely understand that a puppy's first grooming experience may need to be shorter depending on how they handle it. What I don't understand is the attitude surrounding it. Our puppy desperately needed a haircut, and I was never upset about them taking things slowly with her. I was upset by the way the entire situation was communicated. When I came back to pick them up, the attitude from both groomers continued. I was told the dogs were "a handful" and reminded again that I needed to be on time. What makes this even more frustrating is that I dropped them off around 11:00 and both dogs were ready to be picked up around 11:45. I was expecting full haircuts and baths, yet neither dog had much of a haircut at all. I'm not upset about Maple not receiving a full haircut because I understand she is a puppy and it was her first visit. However, Goose has been here multiple times, and he didn't even have the areas trimmed that I specifically asked for, including underneath his chin and around his eyes and head. I was also basically told by Danielle that Goose had "one last chance." Maple's groomer also spoke to me as though I didn't know my own dog, telling me that Maple has dew claws and that I need to play with her face and paws more. We do this regularly at home, so again, the way the information was communicated felt unnecessary and condescending. Then there were the charges. PART 2 & 3 in attached photos.

Julie Forbes, the Sensitive Dog trainer saved us! Our 11 month old adopted puppy, Haggis was…read moreadorable, but soon became known in the neighborhood as Haggis the Horrible. He devolved into a frenzy of barking when any person, dog, bike, car, or even a garbage can was in his field of view. My vet recommended Ahimsa, which was absolutely no help. Haggis failed their Growley Class and thus was barred from any further classes. I did one on one training with them that was a complete waste of time and left poor little Haggis catatonic with fear. I never returned. The wonderful people at Portland Dachshund Rescue, where we adopted Haggis from, encouraged me to find a trainer who had worked with Dachshunds before, and or really understood how to help sensitive dogs. My hunt for a new trainer took over a year! But it was well worth the time and energy. When I contacted Julie I was hopeless and a bit frantic myself. We had to cancel vacations because poor Haggis couldn't tolerate anyone in the house except me and my husband. Julie was terrific! She talked me down off the imaginary cliff I was on and we signed up for the initial lessons. I warned her Haggis would bark at her the entire time, which he pretty much did. But Julie ignored him and kept talking to us over his barking. Haggis finally wore himself out and curled up at my feet throwing a stink-eye at Julie occasionally to reminder her he was watching her. Then a remarkable thing happened. Julie taught us a calming game for Haggis. She had us lead him through the basics while she continued to ignore his chuffs. After a few trials of learning the game, Haggis completely forgot about Julie. He was absorbed in the sniff game, which utilized all dachshunds's super skill: their nose! Haggis ran through the game eager to do it again and again. He approached Julie without barking and looked up at her wanting to play *with* her, instead. At the end of the lesson he jumped up on her couch and sat next to her, content with his new friend. Each class with Julie provided a similar breakthrough for Haggis. At the second class Haggis, bound out of the car, ran up to Julies classroom and barked to be let in. Haggis's affection never wavered for Julie, an neither did ours. WE learned valuable tools and correct training techniques to help Haggis overcome his fear aggression. Within months, Haggis stopped barking at people and let them approach to say hi. Dogs were still something he preferred to keep across the street from him, but soon he stopped barking like a frenzied Doberman ready to attack (I had two Dobermans and they were the sweetest boys!). I am grateful and astonished to say that with Julie's training and guidance, Haggis has no problem letting dogs pass him on the sidewalk and has made a few walking buddies in our neighborhood. Haggis, once the Horrible, has turned into Haggis the Adorable! And Julie Forbes deserves 100% of the credit. We are indebted to her forever!!!!

You name it I tried it. I knew in my heart Pirate was trainable. My husband said "no more, we will just keep him away from people", :0 I decided maybe we needed a dog Psychologist or behaviorist. So I started looking online. Most of the reviews were about putting dogs on drugs. Well I had done that before and Pirate bit our neighbor. As it turns out he was more aggressive on them. Then I saw an ad for "Sensitive Dog". One particular review was so heartfelt and it sounded like all my issues with Pirate, plus all the reviews were great. My husband was willing to do one last try. Julie at Sensitive dog was everything Pirate and I needed.!!!! The first appointment was so positive. It was 2 1/2 hours observing Pirate, talking to me at length about all our issues with him. She was a nice mix of reward based training as well as consequential training. It's such a great mix and you can tell that she really cares about you and your dog. It may seem like a lot of money, but it's really not, because you will get so many valuable lessons and solutions. The one that stands out most in my mind, is that dogs need mental stimulation. Julie gave me lots of ways to help him get his mind working. When I got home, for a week, I tried some of her suggestions for mental games. It was amazing, he got calmer and less reactive. That's just one example of our success. The most important one was that he became much better with our grand kids! We have lots of ways now to get him to be safe with them. We like this approach, as it gives you the ability to plan maybe what you need more help with or are able to take less classes that week. The playgroups are very well ran, with a lot of attention given to the puppies to make sure they are getting along. These playgroups have been great for our puppy's socialization and having more positive interactions with other puppies. They have a nice waiting area with coffee/water/snacks for people who may be there to observe. They have many different types of treats and toys that you can purchase if needed. Make sure that you bring a lot of treats for the training, you will definitely use them! He would sleep for hours after we brought him back from class, and it was a really nice break for us to regain our sanity. Once we got home and tried to book online, it was unclear what the different packages were for, and we ended up booking the wrong one. Fortunately, I called in and Walker helped set us up with the correct package. -Our primary goal was to socialize our new puppy in a safe and controlled setting. For this purpose, the 12 credit group classes were more than enough. It felt like a struggle to use up our remaining credits based on the schedule/type of classes. -The website isn't user friendly, but they revamped it so it has improved. -You can't interchange credits for group classes vs playgroups, etc.

Over a couple months and several trips, he started to love going and now he will jump out of the car and run to the door for someone to open it for him. I've read a lot of reviews that talked about dogs having issues when they came home. Firstly, you just put your dog under stress by boarding them somewhere completely new to them. Of course they will have bowel issues because they probably didn't eat much while they were there, and then they got home and gorged. Stress will do that to dogs, and as a dog owner you should know that even the slightest change in some dog's routines will set off their GI tract. Secondly, your dog is around other dogs - you should expect that it is the same if you were to go to a dog park. They will play, and sometimes it's rough. Thirdly,not all vaccinations cover all the bases, especially when your dog may have the live virus or another dog has it from getting their shots. Sorry, but like at a dog park it isn't controlled. Finally, in the paperwork you sign, it says to not bring personal items for the dogs other than food - it helps keep areas cleaner and the dogs probably shouldn't have toys/beds of their own to get protective over. The dogs are treated well and have lots of interaction with the care team there. The other day I walked in and looked for one of them and up pops one of the younger gentleman from the floor in the middle of a pack of dogs. He'd been on the floor playing with them. If you are worried about your dog coming here, you don't own a dog - you have a "special pet" who would do better with an in home sitter.

I have taken my pup here on and off consistently over the last 2 years. I have often have had to take breaks from this place due to various incidents. Bites missing patches of hair, and my dog often being extremely hungry and thirsty when returning from there as if he hasn't eaten or had anything to drink at all. Most recently I came to pick up my pup, not knowing they have changed the hours again ( as they often due to lack of employees) to find that my dog was in alone in "isolation" after being attacked and bitten by another dog. A piece of my dogs ear had been bitten off, by what is obliviously a bigger dog, which whom he should have never been left alone with unattended. My pup is a loving, fun and playful 2year old Pug, without an a aggressive bone in his body. They did not notify me of the attack and injury! Although this was an EMERGENCY, in which they allow pick-up, they tried to hide the injury! When I requested to know the details of the injury, they could NOT tell me ANYTHING! They did not have any answer because they were not present when the injury occurred! They could not tell me what happened, or who the attacking dog was. (that would be necessary to know for future stays) but they are completely clueless because they don't watch over the dogs. You drop your pup off and they go in a cage, while the staff goes to stay in a separate area behind the building of where they store the dogs, or they leave! (which I have witnessed They DO NOT watch over the dogs to ensure that there are no incidents! They DO NOT have cameras monitoring your dog while in there care! They take zero preventative measures to ensure your animals safety, despite knowing the various kinds of dogs they keep in there facility. If injury occurs to your animal here; including death, they will tell you" well you signed a liability waiver and this is a open range facility". You will not be granted access to see the inhumane conditions in which they are not caring for your pet or it's well being! Because they are traitorous and beneath most loving pet owners standards. They did not offer any assistance with my $360 vet bill despite my dog permanently having a fraction of his ear missing! They had no care or concern, and turned a blind eye to a loyal customers. Never returned my phone care or showed any concern. The owner ROBERT GRAHAM refused to speak to me to avoid accountability and forced me to talk only to his employee who has no authority or can provide zero resolve. I take partial responsibility knowing the conditions of this place and taking him back despite the previous incidents which occurred in their care that they had no care or concern about! Just pay more and go to a reputable, dog sitter or day care! There are plenty of places!
