$3500. 00 to get my dog to walk on a leash is crap. The object of the board and train was to get him to stop jumping and more relaxed. you accomplished none of this. He still jumps and cuts us with his nails from jumping. Your training is garbage and as far as I am concerned anyone that takes their pet to you should just turn their pet into the pound because they don't care about the pet. Disappointing session. Garrett didn't address myself or my dog for the entire session except to collect funds. He was there and helped with 2 other clients dogs in the time that I worked with his young apprentice. It was the most expensive walk around the gravel I have ever taken with my dog. This isn't the first experience I've had with trainers so the importance of the "heel" command is not lost on me. Unfortunately that's all we did. The issue comes with the fact that they sell the "special collar" as the solution to the hardest part of controlling the dog especially during "heel". I had very specific issues I wanted to at least attempt to address, but the insistence on the slow walk and his endless rehearsed talk was the only thing the trainer did. It was a rehearsed pamphlet read instead of a training session. The session ended with Garrett taking a very quick break from his other client to hand me some pamphlets, tell me I needed a 6 session package to address the dogs issues and charge me for today and possibly the added package he offers. It was a very disappointing experience. I'm open to paying a lot of money for the best trainers, but in this case I paid a lot of money for an amateur who didn't address any of my concerns beyond a rehearsed "first session" experience on the importance of the heel command and how this will aid in addressing the majority of problems I may be having with learning to deal with multiple dogs in one home. It took me a while to write this review because I really wanted to forget the experience and the time I wasted driving there along with a fee of just under $300.00 for a dog walk. I do think people need to understand what they are paying for though in case they try and convince you that with this collar and regular walks, many of your issues will end up resolving. read more

We took our German Shepard Puppy, Sparkles, for puppy training (puppy package - 8 sessions). She is now 8 months old and we had such an amazing time with Garrett and David the trainers. They helped me probably more than the pup....meaning really the work is for us as the owner to do. So you will need to do the work and do the practicing at home. All the time and effort was so worth it. We have an amazing dog and she and I are both super calm. I can take her anywhere with me and she does amazing out in public. With my 5 yr old daughter she does awesome as well. We just got kittens and she is best friends with the kitties now also. I received services from Garrett months ago and never got around to writing a review. But he has come to mind again because my dog, Charlie, is an adolescent and recently started getting more reactive to other dogs on the leash. He is not aggressive, just really frustrated because he wants to play with them. But as a service dog in training, that is not good! I have been taking him to the dog park every day and using the calming techniques Garrett taught me to get him to relax and look to me for direction before we enter the dog park. It works amazingly! My dog is such a hyper guy, I don't know if he could be a service dog with the pumped up, exciting techniques of positive training. Garrett has a very enlightened and flexible view of dominance. None of the methods he showed me made my Charlie frustrated. The corrections my vet showed me caused him to be frustrated and even want to retaliate! I don't want him to fear me or engage in a power struggle, I just want to be a good leader. That is what Garrett helped me to accomplish. I would not describe him as either all positive or old-school dominance or even as balanced training. He is a true innovator and dog whisperer. (And he is much gentler than Cesar Millan) I am a dog walker and use the leash skills Garrett taught me everyday. I have studied some other methods to teach Charlie service dog tasks, but I am so glad I got a firm foundation in dog whispering from Garrett. Ok so I had five training sessions with Garrett to address my dogs reactivity on a leash. Here is some feedback that may help others who are considering taking their dog here - When I made my first appointment I wanted to see how it went before buying a package. During the first appointment Garrett was training an family member to be an apprentice of shorts whose name is Jessie. Super nice guy, but young and I could tell he was still learning the ropes. More than once Garrett corrected his training with my dog and had him try again. Which is fine, I know everyone has to start somewhere. But I wasn't ok with paying $100 an hour for my dog to be trained by someone who had little experience and hadn't proven successful yet. I did like their overall training style so I told Garrett I would buy the package as long as it was confirmed Garrett would be the only trainer I worked with alone in each session (not Jessie) and he agreed In between sessions you have zero support or availability for questions...there is no offer of support in between, and you can never get someone in the phone. I showed up to my second session at their kennel and who is there handling my dog? Jessie. I was so angry that I was once again paying for someone else to practice on my dog. But I didn't want to be rude and went through the session. I called later that day and talked to Garrett's wife (who is super nice and I know really busy) and expressed my frustration that the arrangement of Jessie working with my dog was not what we had discussed. She assured me it wouldn't happen again and put in a text, schedule future sessions just with Garrett. Our 3rd and 4th sessions were on location at stores and Jessie wasn't there. The 4th session however he showed up to the wrong Persmart. Which normally I don't mind, but I had told my babysitter I would only be an hour. I had to call and apologize I would be half an hour late. However, it was really nice to just work with Garrett and not have to watch my dog be incorrectly handled and then have to repeat whatever they were doing. 5th session I show up to his kennel and who is there? Jessie again. Garrett is nowhere to be found. He joined us the last ten minutes of the session but had a dog he was working from his board and train program. I had just had enough and decided again to get through the session and not say anything. Again in the last ten minutes Garrett was with us, he addressed mistakes Jessie was making in our training which was incredibly frustrating. This was our third trainer for our dog and we spent good money to go through these sessions. My dog is improving because I am putting in the work. But everything we are doing could have been taught in one session. Every time I got there there was no clear lesson plan or "this is what we are going to work on today". Especially with Jessie I had to constantly ask "ok now can we work on this?" Instead of him taking charge. I was not happy that his training was basically done on my dime and that Garrett training him was taking up time that should have been spent on Garrett working with my dog himself. If he is going to train during appointments he should lower the price or extend them so the client is actually getting what they pay for and expect. I was recommended to Garrett by a neighbor and when I told her what was going on she was shocked and so apologetic. I would not recommend going here until they make sure you are getting what you pay for. After our last session was done it was "see ya later, feel free to leave a review and get a discount on an overnight stay". Once again zero offers of follow up or support. I got a third dog approximately a year ago. She is GS/Belgian Malanois. After a few months I started to believe I was in over my head. She was leash aggressive toward both people and other dogs. I contacted Alpha and Omega Dog training in Puyallup. We just finished a series of classes at Garrett Stevens' Alpha Omega Dog Training Company in Puyallup. We couldn't be happier: the classes were one on one, our 14 months old German Sheperd Roxane has now a clear idea of what we expect from her and, we were taught what was needed for her to succeed! Garrett Stevens and company's trainers are well versed in dog's language and psychology. Not one treat was offered to Roxane as bribery! Instead, trainers emphasized proper communication with our stubborn pup, just as puppies' moms would. The results were just mind boggling! In a few minutes, a huge change in her behavior took place. Then, it was up to us to keep reinforcing her success. I highly recommend Garrett and his employees. Roxane is on her way to conquer her terror of trucks. She consistently walks and stays on the left side without pulling on her leach. Since we have learned the importance to manage the space between Roxane and us, we truly understand each other. Our dog, Mika is between 10-11 years old and for several years has had huge challenges dealing with people other than us and with other dogs. We had separated her from our older dog after several attacks over time. Years ago we worked with a trainer and tried various approaches and none of them seemed to result in a positive change. I was accustomed to keeping her away from other people and dogs, crossing the street while walking with her to avoid any interactions, and I thought that was just how it was going to have to be- giving her a home and food but with her not being a happy, calm dog. We recently took Mika for a two-week board/train at Alpha Omega Dog Training partly because we couldn't find anyone willing to board her or care for her at home because of aggression problems. I was amazed when Mika went with a staff member without incident when I dropped her off and amazed again two weeks later when I picked her up and saw her walking with another staff member and then walked with her, staff member and another dog without any problems. David of Alpha Omega showed me a way of dealing with Mika that is simple but very effective and involves me being calm and seeing myself as 'the one who deals with the stressful things in life' when Mika and I are together so she doesn't have to. I returned today for a follow up hour with Mika and David and reviewed a couple of the techniques I had been shown. Mika is much much calmer on walks (and so am I), walking by people and other dogs without me taking her across the street and without problems, and if a problem arises I believe I have been given solid, calm ways of dealing with it. My dog was injured and neglected which led to a massive infection while at this kennel. I am beyond disappointed by the "care" or rather neglect my dog received while at this kennel. I expected this to be a great place due to all of the positive reviews but when I came back to pick up my dog, I saw a horrifying sight. My dogs face and neck was swollen to 4 times its normal size and he had two tennis ball sized lumps in his neck, as soon as I saw him I knew something was seriously wrong. We immediately took him to the closest emergency vet who informed us that a foreign object was lodged through his neck/throat area and left completely untreated for days. The vet advised me with the extreme swelling to his face and neck that this injury and massive infection (obvious due to the swelling) should have been noticed at least 3 days prior to us arriving back home to pick him up. The vet also said with this kind of neglected injury and severity of his infection my dog would require aspiration, sedation, scans, as well as antibiotics and painkillers for the next 10 days. I was floored when the vet actually said this massive injury must have been neglected, there is no way a dog owner, let alone a supposed dog specialist wouldn't have been able to see this (pictures attached, would you have noticed?) I'm so thankful we came home when we did, otherwise who knows what would have happened to him. Obviously that emergency vet will not be referring anyone to Garrett Stevens' Alpha and Omega Dog Training and Kennels either.  The people at the kennel (Garrett and his wife) said they never noticed the swelling and tried to convince us that this was just normal when dogs are stressed out. They even told us to just take him home and settle him in rather than taking him to the vet, this was included in a string of texts from Garrett trying to explain away what happened to my dog there. If there is any question to the validity of this, I can post screenshots of our conversation but to sum up... They said they were at max capacity 20 dogs, I only saw 3 people there, so either the dogs never received any one on one care/attention or they really did notice the swelling and just didn't take any action, I'm not even sure which is worse. Once the vet's report came back the kennel did finally take responsibility and refunded the cost to have him there which wasn't even enough to cover the emergency vet bill let alone the medications and follow up appointment.  *Please be cautious when choosing a kennel for your dog and look elsewhere for better care than this. If this can happen to my dog then it can happen to yours. read more

We booked a whole block for a discounted price. From day one until our very last session, David was the consummate professional. He immediately picked up on the problems our dog was experiencing and was able to help us see the true underlying issues. He taught us how to correct her behavior, how to read her body language, and useful tips for success at home. We noticed significant improvement quickly. He allowed us to book more sessions at the discounted price as if we had booked them all together at the beginning. We continued to see dramatic progress to the point where we are confident in her ability to interact with other dogs again. I used Garrett two years ago when my options were limited and the dog I just received as a gift turned out to have reactive qualities and was fearful of just about everything. I turned to Garrett because I had never trained a dog before, let alone one with as many issues as Maverick does. I didn't know any better! I went through the process, bought the book (never read it) and purchased one of his slip collars. I was ready to have a changed dog!! S The exact opposite happened. Maverick was afraid of his kennel and instead of using positive reinforcement and not overwhelming him, Garrett put a slip collar on him (it's designed to choke the dog, but he'll say it's not designed to hurt the dog because it's not near his wind pipe.) and forced my dog into the kennel. He let out a yelp as the collar tightened around his neck and assured me it was fine! That didn't help him at all! It just made him hate it and fear his kennel more!! Same with the car. He flooded Maverick with forcing him into the car he was so terrified of and would drool the whole time he was in it. Garrett also has this terrible need to "dominate" the animals he trains, and says that because their WILD ANCESTORS were used in war, that we must not let our dogs take control over us. You think our Labrador retrievers and labradoodles are trying to take control over us???! All they want to do is eat, drink, play, FEEL SAFE, and not feel threatened by the person who is supposed to take care of them. "Balanced" trainers are using aversive methods like prong collars, e-collars, slip collars, and dominating because they know it's easier to train a dog who is fearful of you than if you actually having to know what you were doing and how conditioning works. Two years later, and a whole lot of research and a basic psychology class (really Garrett, learn about operant conditioning, it will really help you), I am now a huge believer in Positive reinforcement training and after training Maverick MYSELF, he will go into his kennel with high reward treats (I know you hate that Garrett), and we just traveled 2,000 miles with Maverick in the car without a single drop of drool and absolutely no problem at all. And all of that was without any of your help. It's wasn't a quick fix, but he's a happy and loving dog. PEOPLE PLEASE - Don't demonstrate aversive methods because it's easy. And don't go to Garrett because you were desperate like me. Do your research about aversive methods and positive reinforcement training. You owe it to you dog. Aren't these members part of your family? Why do you want to hurt them? I kick myself all the time for wasting hundreds of dollars for a balanced trainer. And I'm embarrassed to have gone to Alpha Omega. But I didn't know better. So I hope I change someone's mind. Where do I even begin? For a long time I knew my French bulldog Piggles needed H E L P. I was sad, frustrated, and hopeless. Her behavior was terrible and out of control. I have 2 French bulldogs, a male who is 3, and Piggles who will be 2 soon. The male who is very calm and relaxed and Piggles who needed help, was very aggressive and possessive. I thought maybe "she would grow out of this because she's a female." I was wrong and it only became worst. She has even become aggressive with the people in my household. She has snipped me several times and we all have become afraid of her only because she was very unpredictable. There are times when I am petting her she will lay down and let me pet her (like how a dog should) and than out of nowhere she will try to bite me. I had know idea why she acted the way she did but I felt really hopeless and even at times thought that "maybe we should give her away." I never took her out to the dog park because I was embarrassed of her behavior and scared of what she could do to another dog or person. When we had guests in our home I would always make sure she was put away. While walking, she was out of control and extremely excited and always pulled, barked, whined and cried because she wanted to hurry up and get outside. It really frustrated me that when I wanted to pet or hold her she only let me on "her terms." It was weird and I didn't understand why she would try to bite me when she's laying down and I am rubbing her. I was exhausted dealing with her behavior. And no one should have a pet who is unpredictable and aggressive. I knew in my heart that she needed help and I can't believe the thoughts of giving her away even crossed my mind. I did a lot of research and called a lot of trainers but it wasn't until I went onto my app called "NextDoor" where I posted about my frustrations and if anyone could recommend me to someone. Before, I would never dare go near her mouth or even tried to wipe her face off if she needed it because she would definitley bite me. But now I can touch and rub her mouth area without being afraid. When we go on walks, she's not as wild or out of control. She doesn't cry/whine anymore and I am not embarrassed to walk her when there are other dogs/people passing us by. I honestly thought it would take weeks or months before we noticed a change but within the 20-30 mins of the session my dog was completely different. I am a firm believer and I am still shocked at how differently my dog is now. I could not be any happier and I am so happy that I can love on my pet when I want to. Was having issues with our 11 month old German Shepard. He was very reactive to dogs and people. We had him enrolled in Garrett's board and train 2 week program. When picking him up we immediately saw improvement in his demeanor. He is a calmer and more approachable dog. With all these rave reviews I had high hopes but after following every detail of the plan Garrett gave us for weeks, my dog is still no more potty trained than before we paid for the dog training session. Edited to Add: Wow. I just saw the response posted by the business owner and I am shocked and disheartened. You had the opportunity to speak to my concerns in a supportive way and you could have turned this review around and won me over as a long time customer. I explained that we had moved states and had 3 kids at home. Our home and dog are both clean and attentively well cared for. We never even owned a crate until after you suggested it. To say that we caused almost irreparable damage, live in urine and feces, crated our dog for long periods, and are at fault for not buying more training from you is untrue and offensive. The first time I met Garrett was when my dog got attacked by a dog he was training on the waterfront. As the incident was happening he stood there without intervention, I had to yell at the lady to get her dog. I walked away once broken up and Garrett proceeded to tell me that my crying was going to make my dog aggressive and that the best thing I could do would be to continue on my run. Mind you my dog was dripping blood from his leg and ended up getting 3 staples to his leg, multiple small abrasions to his chest and front of his leg. Neither one of these people apologized or offered help. He has since ignored my efforts to get ahold of him. Animal control was called and given his name and number since the owner left the scene. Garrett recently made a post about how he finds it amusing people giving out free information without knowing your dog. My comment on his post was such then deleted and he has not responded to me since the incident. I have numerous friends who have used him and had to have their dogs retrained. As priding yourself as a dog whisperer and an expert maybe what you preach should be in your practice. As a dog trainer I would expect much more professionalism from such. By far.. Not a good person or trainer. To continue on topic- I have received multiple calls from Garrett telling me how I am not telling the truth and how great he is. Again, yes my dog had minor cuts to his chest and front is his paw, however the one behind his leg required three staples and I had blood all over my hands so much that it made him question if the dog got me. I do not sneak up on people while running with my dog and I always put two people between my dog and any other dog- as I was properly taught. I find it quite sad you have to continue to bash someone and tell them how much of a liar they are and change the story to make yourself look good. Excuse me for not having my phone glued to my side as I work nights and my career isn't dependent on it. As my first messages state: was to give the owner my name and number, that was never done and I continue to get multiple messages from you. I'm sorry you feel attacked but I'm just stating my side. I found Garrett through the Pet Brigade on Ft. Lewis. I have a Thai Ridgeback that was a rescue from Thailand. He was in very poor condition when I got him and because of that, I fostered many of his bad behaviors because I felt bad for him. I was at my wits end because Mako had alot of aggression (which was based on fear). Garrett came over and immediately diagnosed Mako with fear. Garrett is as amazing as all of these reviews have mentioned! For about a year my Shepherd mix Loki has had issues with being too aggressive towards other dogs and people, especially children. We could not even walk him 5 steps on the waterfront without him growling and ANYBODY that walked by and he has even latched out at dogs and one time a child. On top of that, he pulled on the leash, got over-excited any time we were about to go out, and had what seemed like separation anxiety any time we left. After that I knew I HAD to find a professional to work with him. I literally searched at least 20 different sites when I found Garrett's site. His reviews were AMAZING and so of course I was not going to go through anyone else. We did 5 sessions with Garrett. It was SO helpful. Garret first identified the issue, he let me know why Loki was behaving the way he was, and what we can do to help him to calm down. What I liked about Garrett is that he didn't just tell me what to do to fix the issue, or have me coax him with a few treats. He gives you insight why we were doing what we were to help Loki. He gives ME the knowledge and training to help my dog. He watches ME react to Loki's behavior, tells me what to do, when to do it, and makes sure that I know what to do and how to train/work with my dog every day. After 5 weeks, Loki was almost a completely different dog. I can now look forward to taking him on walks around lots of people and dogs. I don't have to worry anymore. Before, any time we took him out it was overwhelming and full of anxiety. Now there is no stress and I know Loki will behave. Not only is he much calmer, but I now have the knowledge and know what to do in case he ever does get over-excited or if he shows small signs of aggression or fear before they get out of control! I am forever grateful for Garrett and wish I had gotten with him sooner! I promise, you will not regret training your dog with Garrett. Garrett is amazing. Our Rottie pup was VERY nippy & was showing signs of strong dominance at a very young age. It got to the point where we feared having to get rid of him. We already had two older Westies when we got our Lobo, now a 114 lb German Shepherd. Garrett was recommended to us by our groomer of over 10yrs so we obviously trusted her judgement. I was worried about the transition of Lobo into our home since we decided to make him an "inside" dog. Lobo is an anxious dog, even for a big guy, he starts to retreat and shiver when he is nervous. Of course we were given all kinds of advice, including sedating him (oh no). But Garret's suggestion to calm Lobo, social encounters outside our home, visits to pet-friendly stores, to name a few, seemed to have worked. I'm an older lady with not a lot of strength and worried about walking with Lobo on leash. Garrett's training with Lobo make walks a pleasure. Our three year old pit bull mix, Oreo, was a nervous dog and didn't listen well. She wouldn't walk on a leash without pulling me, and at 80 pounds I could not control her. She would have to be drugged when she went to the groomer to have her nails clipped. After one lesson with Garrett we could already see a difference. Today she is a different dog. We can now go for walks at the park without issue (the collar that Garrett sells is a must, it works wonders). We no longer need to drug her before going to the groomers. We have a 1 year old ACD and we thought he was aggressive. We had already done obedience classes and in a group setting it wasn't possible to address the issues correctly. This training was just what we were looking for. After the first session due to the personal attention Garrett found he was nervous not aggressive and his nervousness was why he acted out. We were given the proper tools to correct the problem and we saw great results. It's not up to the trainer to fix the dog. His job is to give you the tools and knowledge to do it yourself. I brought my dog to Garrett as I needed desperate help on how to handle him. To give you a little bit of background on my dog Odin he is a Afghanistan Sage Kuchi that was rescued from a combat outpost right outside of Kabul. Odin is a very loving dog but when he feels challenged he thinks it's time to fight as in their culture that is how a dog survives. We brought Odin to Garrett and immediately I noticed how Garrett interacted with Odin was different than how I interacted with him. Garrett was able to gain Odin's trust in a very short time which for our dogs is definitely unbelievable! To them outsiders are no good as that is how they are killed very quickly in Afghanistan. Garrett's calm demeanor was very impressive to see just meeting him within 10 minutes. He started giving us his philosophy on dogs and I didn't realize how much I was doing wrong and not setting my dog up for success. What I really liked was having Garrett take us on short walks and just paying attention to me the dog owner and how I interacted with him. he gave really good suggestions along the way and as soon as I applied what he was talking about Odin changed to a different dog. His signature collar has been a godsend as I know when Odin starts to get distracted on walks I can quick easily shift his focus and change his direction in just a very small little pull. We have been seeing Garrett for about 2 years now to include training as well as boarding and training! Genuine, knowledgeable, experienced and proven results! Brought home a 8 week old puppy and thought to myself "what did I just do?" She was my first dog and I needed some desperate guidance. Garrett was a perfect choice! After a few private sessions with him, I began to understand dog behaviors and body language. He makes training relevant and fun, using your dog's natural instincts. Garrett is great at what he does: his calm and assertive style has helped us and our dog Leah a lot. When we first started working with him, Leah was pulling on the leash a lot, had started to lunge at people, didn't like people coming to our house and was hard to play with (she wouldn't give up the toy during fetch or tug-of-war). After seven sessions with Garrett, our dog has calmed down a lot, and we feel much more confident taking her out and having people over. And she's learned to give up her toy when we ask her to! I just finished a 6 session package with Garrett and couldn't be happier. I have a 2 year old male French mastiff with some aggression toward people and barking dogs. He goes nuts at the front door, pulls when walking and marks in our home. Max is lucky we love him! Each session was at our home, park or pet store. I saw noticeable changes after our first meeting.
