First time coming since they've done the new ayce buffet style self serve option. We did the $30 standard option. Drinks separate. Standard options has some apps out on the hot buffets along with self serve meats and veggies. The Meat marinades were excellent as well as the riblets at the hot bar. Also like that they offer white and purple rice. I was disappointed by the buffet style options as there weren't enough offerings to me. The veggies looked sad and not fresh. We came on a Monday for dinner btw. I feel it was a mash up of just random things compared to other kbbq spots. There's also no designated make your own sauce station. The place is clean and the staff are friendly, efficient but the buffet options need a revamp. They do have an extensive drink menu if you're a drinker. read more

This visit was to check out the new setup. It used to be order through your server and the food would be brought out to you. The setup now has the majority of meats, veggies and sides in the back area where it's self serve - grab as much or as little as you want, this is def the more preferred option for me. We opted for just KBBQ and no hotpot as the hotpot burners aren't built into the tables so there would have to be burner setup placed on the table which would just crowd the space in my opinion. They also have several appy type options to order as well to accompany the meal. The apps can be ordered by scanning the QR code on the table that will directly connect to your check. My fave app was the fried dumpling and for meat options, I absolutely love the pork cheek - I like to really cook it down as it's pretty fatty but it's deliciousness in my belly. The pork belly, calamari and bulgogi chicken were pretty good as well. We really enjoyed our visit and our waitress was great, super attention and friendly. The only downside is that with having to cook your own food, anything that is seasoned will cook and smell to high heavens on your clothes - but so worth it. Can't wait to come back. read more

Yes, the restaurant itself is brighter and gives more of a typical KBBQ vibe - with screens of kpop playing all over the walls, but it doesn't make up for the lack of quality of food. Ordering is pretty convenient now - scan QR code for drinks and premium items to be served to you. There is a self serve option where you can grab your own amounts of meats, side dishes, & hot foods. The hot foods section was lukewarm. I also feel like the meat quality has gone down. I always enjoy a spicy tofu so I mainly ate that, beef bulgogi & LA beef short ribs. CAUTION: check your receipt to make sure you aren't giving 40-50% tip. Kimchi banchan (side plates) were so limited. Scallion pancakes were meh. Not crispy as before felt like crepe except the too tasted a little undercooked Fried rice at the buffet area, used like salt and pepper to cover the bland taste, even my toddler did not like it. French fry and onion ring was so hard, it hurt my teeth. As for everything else it was great. Service was slow. We had the taller American or European girl with curly black hair. She turned it off and walked away... we waited for 20mins and nothing so we just asked another person without complaining that we asked before because it was busy. She walked by 2x and made funny faces for my toddler to laugh but never changed the grill. She didnt service us anything other than give us utensils and that's all she did... I have over a decade of restaurant industry experience therefore I rarely complain about services because half the time it's really not the waitress/waiter's fault. The reason why i gave it 2 stars is because the curly black hair waitress got us our bill on the contactless pay terminal. She showed me the bill which I glanced over and assumed it will be around $150-160 as its $30/pp for weekend dinner. Plus we ordered extra egg. My brother wants to tip cash since we know they get to keep more of cash tips. But when i looked at the bill. It was 152 (pre-tax) then suddenly when we got to the total page to add tip, it said it was over $190. So when i questions it with the waitress, she panicked a little and went back or looked ofer something and then proceeded to tell me its "suggested" you can add "different amounts." But when i clicked different amounts it was that 20-30% of $190+ amount. (20-30% of the total with auto tip) i obviously selected no tip as i was going to give a cash tip. Ive worked in the industry for a decade, large parties are usually 6 or more. As you can see we are a party of 5. We did have 2 toddler that barely ate and mostly played and watched tv. Therefore I am not mad the auto tip was added. We originally set aside $50 dollars for cash tip. But after seeing this. I took that back $50 cash and my brother said let's leave $20 cash for extra. I said no, based on my principle, nothing extra. I would've been happy to leave an extra if the auto tip was disclosed and she didn't lie to me that it was "suggested". Total amount for the tip, i selected. If this was truly not shady. I selected "no tip" it should've not had any tip added. This was not a mistake if she went back to look into why the total went from 150+to 190+ It's the cheapest thing you can do to customer....its basically stealing. Be a wait staff with dignity and standards. Time right now sucks and you work so hard for your money. But don't do this crap. Not OK Sura...train your employee better or hire better people. read more

It has definitely been a long time since I've dined at Sura Korean bbq. My friends and i celebrated a special 40th surprise birthday. I must say the renovations of this restaurant looks beautiful and very modern compared to before. I love that is now a self serve all you can eat rather than servers bringing every order to the table. What a find! I went on google search and came across this gem as one of the listings. Drove 40 mins each way, 2 days in a row because it was so good. Coming from Southern CA where Korean BBQ is very popular I found it difficult to find a decent place that is reasonably priced in MA and RI. Alex, the waitress is awesome. She provided us with fantastic service and is very quick with drinks and kitchen appetizer runs. Very good with cleanliness. She also recommended a good Korean beer "Cass Fresh", which has a light and smooth taste. From the outside, it doesn't look like a very busy place, but it definitely should be. Highly recommended. Good and wholesome selections of meats, vegetables, sides, salad bar, corn cheese. The steamed eggs costs $1 but it is SO worth it. They have 2 amazing sauces table side (teriyaki and spicy garlic), and if you're a spicy sauce fan, ask for the really spicy sauce from the kitchen to mix with the spicy garlic dipping sauce. They also have additional sauces at the bar. All for just $30 per person. For the vegetarians, it is only $25. My favorites were: Spicy marinaded pork belly, sirloin steak, thin sliced beef and pork belly, super spicy secret sauce with the spicy garlic dipping sauce, kimchi, fish tofu, fish ball with stuffing, fresh white rice. Checked in if we needed any help or menu orders. Great selections and options to choose from. Authentic flavors. Well I haven't been here in awhile due to a not so good experience. But I decided to try again- and I am so glad that I did. The changes are for the better- for the most part. Everything is now on a buffet table. The meat and seafood in fridges. This allows you to get as much as you want without overdoing it. This also helps the flow of service - things are faster- instead of waiting for service to get it. However the scallion pancakes definitely lose their magic and there is not really a sauce bar. The hot pot is still good but because the meat is frozen you do have to order this - so make sure you only order small amounts. Oh you now order online and the exact size you can eat. Don't forget to order your steam egg if you do order hot pot - for the full soup experience. The overall ambiance is happier because the wait staff is not stressed out. And being able to play chef - getting the ingredients you want to cook with- and setting the mood at the table is all able to happen due to this new set up. I will be back. Sure, the all-you-can-eat barbecue concept deserves 5 stars but I am considering my overall experience here. Food is ample. Service was so-so. Servers seemed distracted except maybe for the manager or owner (not sure; both?). They have authentic Korean drinks if one is inclined. It was busy enough when we went (weekend) but not too crazy. If you cannot get enough (figuratively and literally!) of Korean barbecue or all their popular meat dishes, this one deserves a visit. read more

I am so excited to finally have tried Sura Korean BBQ. A lot of people told me that they enjoy it and this is the only Korean BBQ spot in Rhode Island. I came on a Sunday afternoon and there were some big groups there. The grill is already on the table with metal tongs to place raw meat and scissor to cut cooked meat. There is a QR code for you to look at the menu, guidelines, and cooking tips. You do the BBQ by yourself, but the servers were walking around so I am sure they could help if you needed it. They first brought over some banchan (sides) such as, Kimchi, Sweet and Sour Radish Salad, and Marinated Bean sprouts. These were great. I really enjoyed the marinated bean sprouts. It had really good flavor. There were also two types of sauces-Black Sauce: Sweet Garlic Soy Sauce and Orange Sauce: Korean Bean Paste Sauce. There is a piece of paper where you can check off the items you would like. Each meat order is approximately 8oz. It's all you can eat so pace yourselves. We ordered from the regular menu. We started with the Marinated Thin Beef, Prime Brisket, Chicken Bulgogi, Thin Sliced Pork Belly, Vegetables (Potato, Squash, Sweet Potato, Green Pepper, Eggplant, Onion, Carrot), Soft Tofu Stew, and Scallion Pancake. Everything came out quickly. We started to cook the meat and vegetables. Because the meat was thinly sliced, it cooked quickly. It tasted good. The tofu stew came out really hot and tofu pieces was flavorful. The scallion pancake was very crunchy and pairing it with sweet garlic soy sauce was delicious. We were really full, but lastly ordered Spicy Pork. This was really well marinated. We had no room for dessert and would have to pay extra anyways, so we skipped it. Service was great. Our server came frequently to ask if we needed anything. On the menu, it did say that the grill will be changed each round but our grill did start turning black and it was not changed. It was $37.95 per person prior to tax. Compared to NY, this Korean BBQ spot is not a bad option. Unfortunately, I do not think I got the $37.95 worth of food since we did not order too much. The table next to us was struggling to finish all the food they ordered. I heard the server tell them to not waste food next time. There are signs around that they can charge an extra $15 for each 8 oz of leftover meat and an extra $5 for each plate of a leftover side dish. read more

Sura recently changed their menu/prices, assuming due to the other Kbbq competition in RI. For the current price of $29, it's now a self service type of all you can eat buffet. They have their meats refrigerated for you to get yourself, and have few items that you can order on your phone through a QR code, and hot foods/salad for you to grab yourself. I like that you're able to help yourself so that way you can grab however much you want or how little you want. It does get a little crowded at times cause everyone congregates to one area to get everything, but it's not a bad concept they have going. We had stopped going to Sura when they jumped up in prices but with this new price drop and concept change, we would come back again! read more

Pains me to write this review. Ive been enjoying Sura for 10+ years but this was the last time. They have been all you can eat for as long as I can remember, but now they are buffet style. They have also added a bunch of cold and hot items. "Whats wrong with all that Joe?" QUALITY. The hot food was luke warm, dry, and crunchy. Gone are the days of getting a fresh scallion pancake and having 3rd degree burns on the roof of your mouth after the first bite. Its nice to have more choices of veggies to grill, just gotta get over the people using the same tongs to grab jalapenos, tofu, onions, ginger, and then put them back in with the kimchi. Hope you dont have any allergy issues! THEN grabbing the tongs for the raw meats and the tongs being sticky with chicken and beef juice because people just throw the tongs in the pans. To top it all off, the remaing items, like drinks, some appetizers, and other items you have to order on an app on your phone. So while you are trying to cook, and having to go up to the buffet, and order stuff on the app - somewhere in there you are supposed to have an enjoyable meal. Ditch the buffet Sura! read more

It's been a few years since I've been in this restaurant and I was excited to give it another try. The place was busy on a Fridaynight and I saw this as a good sign considering the location. When my family was seated I was informed that the restaurant had a buffet for $30 per person and I was shown all of the items we could get and cook right on our table. It seemed like a good idea but now I think that this wasn't the place for me. Loud pop music, cluttered tables so people could cook their food, dish carts pushed through the dining room so tables could be cleaned all began to irritate me. While the food was good and cooking it meant hot to plate, overall I don't think the cost was justified. I didn't find anything especially great and the atmosphere wasn't cozy. We don't have AYCE KBBQ in Michigan, so when I was in RI visiting family and sightseeing this week, I wanted to see if RI had any. Sura seems to be the only one, and they have this location and also a Providence one. We arrived around 830pm on a Monday night. You can choose their regular meats or their premium. I thought I had read it's $32/pp for dinner but it's now $37.95, just FYI... Not sure if they do a separate lunch price. That's for the regular/standard meats menu. You're allowed to order up to 5 meats at a time but you're also charged $15 for any uneaten food (8-oz. portions) so you'll want to be careful about how much you order. I think we had 5-6 meats total: -Spicy pork x 2, for my boyfriend -Bulgogi - my favorite of the meats -Brisket - okay but thin, per usual -Pork chop type meat -Pork chop type meat but thinner (came with 3 of them) Bulgogi was definitely my favorite of the 5 I tried. There are also two sauces for dipping, and I really enjoyed the sweet soy sauce; the other was a bean sauce. I've never seen the BBQ pan setup like this before either - in MI and also Vegas, where I like to do AYCE KBBQ, it's usually built into the table. Overall I'd come back here again since everything was pretty tasty, just be aware of the dinner pricing. They have unlimited hot pot as well but I'm not sure how much that costs. read more

I've been a few times for group dinners and love it. It's a low key, casual spot with great food! Last weekend i organized a group dinner there for 12 people . I tried calling a couple weeks ahead to reserve a room but they told me to call back couple days before since they don't take reservations far ahead. I was a little worried all the rooms would be booked but was relieved when i called 3 days before that they would reserve one. When we got restaurant we were told for the rooms we had to spend a minimum of $500, which was ok since there was 12 of us and wee were all doing the all you can it, but i think they should tell people over the phone so they are prepared. I remembered there has been a issue with using more than 1 credit card at a previous dinner so i let my friends know to bring cash. Service was great, our waitress very friendly and accommodating; other waiters helped her deliver the food. We loved everything, from food to sake and desert. Note, they do not like if you order too many dishes and don't ear them (for all you can eat), menu says they will charge you if it's over certain weight. I also heard from a friend that they get very mad and tell you they are disappointed if you waste food, so be warned. Overall was a fun night and would def go again. Ps the rooms are for karaoke but we couldn't figure out how to get it to work. read more

For RI, this is the best Korean experience for ME. Love their Korean BBQ meats where you grill them yourself to your liking. Plenty of sides are given before to munch on before your order arrives. Absolutely delicious. These are the four things I ordered this last time: - Pork Short Ribs 10/10 Deliciously marinated, thinly sliced, so it's easy to grill all the way through. A must. - Spicy Pork 9/10 Thin slices of pork very well seasoned with a spice level that is not too hot, but it definitely tingles. - Bulgogi Chicken 7/10 I was not too impressed with it. The chunks were kind of thick, so it was hard to get it grilled to perfection. Yes, you have a pair of scissors to cut them up, but still it was just ok. - Spicy chicken thighs 7/10 Again, nothing to write home about. Good but not as good as the pork dishes. Next time, I will try the Prime brisket and the Marinated thin beef, along with more of the Pork short ribs... The staff is attentive. M-Th they have a lunch price that is not available Friday-Sunday. I paid $29.95 for the lunch on Friday. read more

Been going here for a few years, but they recently changed the restaurant to a buffet style. All the sides & meats are now available in the corner or in the fridge where you can go up and grab whatever you want at any time. We ate there on a Saturday later in the night (around 9 pm) and we weren't sure if they had either reduced their meat options or ran out by then, but I was disappointed to see that there was no thinly sliced beef brisket or thinly sliced pork belly like there used to be, the only options available where the thicker cuts & steaks that you had to cut yourself. Not a deal breaker, but I was pretty disappointed since our group would always devour round after round of the thin beef alone lol In theory, I don't hate a buffet style for KBBQ because you can pace your meal, but my biggest gripe is that the raw meats are sitting out in large open trays inside of the fridges. They're not portioned or anything, it's just one or two big open containers that anybody can grab from with tongs. Several of the meats are sitting in pools of marinade and could easily drip or splash if you weren't careful. Just seems like a foodborne illness waiting to happen since it wouldn't be hard for someone to grab meat from one tray and accidentally drop it in another or something. Could be easily solved if they were pre-portioned in the fridge or covered, literally anything but big wet open trays of seafood, pork, beef, and chicken all sitting next to each other. I don't absolutely hate the buffet style change, but I am disappointed by an overall reduced quality in the meats and sides (and the questionable food safety of the meat fridge) read more
