Other than the food, what usually sticks out is the next level service. Shi was our server and wow, she is amazing. I came here on a weeknight and it was super busy, but I luckily got seated right away. I ordered the half/half korean fried chicken, the half/half cheesy boneless chicken, and the tteokbokki. I had heard great things about Korean fried chicken and wanted to try it for myself! All I ordered was a 15-piece platter of the soy/garlic (regular) Korean fried chicken wings, boneless. The "boneless" was my friend's suggestion, but I think I would've liked the bone-in wings more. I really liked the texture of the Korean fried chicken, it was soft with a light crinkly crunch. I feel like the sauce was lacking something, however, like maybe it was made with low sodium soy sauce instead of the real deal. Service-wise, there's no tipping! I was so surprised! What I did not like was that my seat was downwind from the door! Every time someone came in or out I was blasted with freezing-cold nighttime February air. We weren't even the table closest to the door-we were in the raised area in the back- but this is not surprising given that it's a smaller restaurant. You're also really close to the tables next to you. It was a Thursday night when we went and very busy, not any empty tables around. But I could very clearly hear the guy a foot away from me tell his date "you can just Venmo me." Eek! So, definitely give this place a try for the Korean take on an American classic. I have been going to Den Den, both KFC and Asiana throughout many years and the quality stays consistent every time. I love how I can order an entree and the portions are always huge, or I can share KFC and entrees with friends and everyone is satisfied with their meal. Notable favorites: Korean rice cakes (ttekobokki w/ ramen and cheese, upcharge of $2 each additional topping), the Curry Pork Katsu (DELICIOUS) and the Beef Kimbap. SO much flavor in each dish. For the KFC, you can split between the two sauces in your order (Dark Soy Garlic & Spicy), but I actually prefer the soy garlic. It's been a while since coming back to Den Den and after the meal, I was kicking myself for taking so long to come back. Let me start by saying this spot is just as busy as I remember it being several years ago, which is a good sign- just be prepared to wait for a bit if you have a larger party. With us looking for a table for 2, we got right in to the casual, laid back space. The Tuna kimbap (Gimbap) ($14). We were thinking sushi, and Den Den chicken also sounded like a good idea so we went with the best of both worlds and ordered this. Now let me tell you, it's much simpler than sushi which is intended- it's a different dish, different ingredients but similar execution except for one big difference.. These slices were MASSIVE. Seriously, be careful taking these head on. One problem I had with these is they were quite dry. Again, in the traditional sense, these were your typical Kimbap but man, they would have benefited from a little sauce. Some kind of ssamjang or a Korean vinegar soy dipping sauce would have taken these to the next level. I'd give the Kimbap a 3/5 for flavor, but 5/5 for portion. The Scallion Chicken: holy crap, the portion on this was unexpected. If you're going to go with the 8pc Fried Chicken order and want boneless, do this instead. It is $1 more ($18) and you get literally ~20 pieces of boneless chicken (majority requiring 2 bites). Most of the chicken in this dish was fantastic, however there were a handful of pieces that were quite tough and difficult to chew. But man, the flavor was fantastic and the value here was off the charts. Overall I'd give this dish a 4-4.5/5 on flavor. 5/5 on a value. This was split between 2 of us, if we hadn't gotten some small bites at a different place beforehand, I'm confident 2 orders of Kimbap and 1 order of the scallion chicken would have been more than enough food and that's for 2 people with large appetites. When considering your options, also keep in mind this is a no-tipping restaurant. What you see on the menu for a price is what you pay. Will be back again, and again. read more

There are two flavors for the Den Den Korean Fried Chicken and Yaki Ramen Noodles: Dark (Soy Garlic) / Red (Spicy). For the Den Den Korean Fried Chicken, there are different sizes: Small (8pc), Medium (15pc), Large (23pc), and Extra Large (30pc). The fried rice cake was delicious with the sauce. I must give a shout out to my Yelpie friend Robert for suggesting this delicious restaurant! The dining area is on two levels. We sat by the window wall in a bright, open space. The tables are set with small plates and disposable chop sticks. I am a fool with those and requested a fork. I know my limitations. We ordered the kimchi scallion pancakes which are very nice. I expected a bit more spice (based on my prior Korean kimchi experience), but if you prefer mild, this is a nice plate to share. The Korean BBQ comes with your choice of protien (five options I think). I chose the mixed mushrooms. This meal is so tasty. I got the 'mild' spice level which still had a nice kick to it and was also a bit sweet. The sauce is a nice consistency and full of flavors. My SO ordered spicy, cheesy, boneless fried chicken. Every part of that dish is right up his food alley and he had all good things to say about it. Spicy hot enough to 'satisfy' his atomic level heat preference (not that hot, but enough) and very crispy. He loved it. Yay! Parking is on street with a 2hr limit. Use the Passport parking app or bring quarters to feed the meter. If you don't mind a little walk you may find free on street parking on a side street away from the busy Thayer St. area. Truthfully, I've only ordered their fried chicken wings because of how delicious they are and I have no intention of ordering anything else on the menu.
