The food is actually really good--I ordered it for delivery. However, I can't believe it cost $25. The main dish is the soup, which came in a very small cup that was only half full. I'm not sure what the portions are like if you dine in, but based on my delivery experience, I wouldn't recommend ordering delivery.

I had a nice dinner at Sott with my daughter. Since we were in a hurry we asked if the Pepper Japchae and Chicken Gangjeong would come out within twenty minutes. I enjoyed most but was surprised that they both were more subtlety flavored than I expected. I would like to return to try more of the menu. My daughter really loved the chicken - she thought it was just right. Our server was very considerate and the decor reminded me of being in Korea.

    Korean Crudo

On my recent trip to Rhode Island, I stopped by Sott and their food was closely on par with what I had in Korea. They even have a Life4Cuts style photo booth INSIDE the restaurant. We couldn't resist jumping in for pics right after our feast. Shoutout to the servers. They were super friendly and attentive! *Korean Crudo $20 This crudo was absolutely perfect for a warm day. It came generously loaded with salmon, hamachi, ikura, and masago, drizzled with a bright, tangy sauce. I loved wrapping the raw fish in the seaweed they provided. Undoubtedly my favorite dish of the meal. *LA Galbi $29 The korean grilled meat came with rice, lettuce wraps, and assorted banchan, just like a proper kbbq experience. The galbi was smoky, slightly sweet, and juicy. It was delicious with white rice or wrapped in lettuce (we even asked for extra lettuce). *Salmon Sotbap $26 One of their signature dishes is sotbap (솥밥)--a traditional Korean pot rice dish where rice is cooked in a hot metal pot and topped with your choice of toppings like short ribs, bulgogi, salmon, oysters, or veggies. They even provided a helpful instruction sheet outlining two ways to enjoy it: (1) Transfer the rice to a separate bowl and mix it with sauces and banchan. (2) Pour barley tea into the pot with the crispy rice at the bottom, cover it with the lid, and let it soak. I personally preferred the first method. It was such a fun experience to enjoy sotbap outside of Korea. *White Mountain $15 *Green Grape Makgeoli $14 *Yuzu Refresher $7 If you enjoy cocktails with a mild alcoholic taste like I do, their drinks are a great choice. The green grape korean rice wine was sweet and creamy, while the White Mountain had a very subtle sake flavor and was garnished with lychee.

Great Korean food and experience in downtown Providence! LOCATION: Street parking only. The space itself is huge with a bar in the middle and plenty of tables surrounding. FOOD: They are known for their sotbap so that's definitely a must try! I ordered from their lunch menu which is a great deal - rice, side dishes, a soup and choice of protein for less than $20. I chose the galbi which came with three pieces which I thought wasn't enough. The galbi was grilled perfectly and the bean paste stew was delicious though! SERVICE: friendly and fast service!

    Braised Shortrib Sotbap

First stop into SOTT, always wanted to try Wok & Pot so was upset to find they closed but it turns out they reopened with this rebrand, so here we are. I wanted to try an authentic Korean dish, so I landed on the Braised Short rib Sotbap. It was very intriguing, you scoop the rice out to eat it with your protein, then the crisp rice that is stuck to the bowl is soaked in a barley tea to then later be scrapped off and eaten once it softens. It was cool to try a traditional dish like this, the flavors were all good, I enjoyed it, I did feel as if it was a little overpriced though and I think the execution fell a bit short. I was underwhelmed with the "crispy rice", it didn't really form much of a crust at all so when I steeped in the barley tea, I just got mushy rice. The amount of meat was OK, but the sides it came with were a little weak portion wise. You got a couple bites of each thing. This meal was $28, so not very cheap for cubed short rib and rice. Nice experience but I didn't find anything stand out about it. Would I go back? Sure, am I in a rush to? No. I also thought it was a bit odd that reservations were filling up but when we got there the place was empty. Service was good, and everyone was nice, but the whole experience was just- good.

Service was the highlight of this restaurant! The workers are so friendly and really quick. I ordered the: -fried chicken: I would reorder this!! So delicious. So crispy and the sauce was super flavorful. It was a generous portion -pork gamja soup: I wish there was more broth in this. Not a must try but wouldn't be against eating it.

    Bulgogi SotBap

The bulgogi sotbap was delicious. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable on how to enjoy the dish. Would recommend this place.

Overall: 3/5 Food: 3/5 - We got the gamja tang and the spicy rice cakes to share and the taste was just alright. The gamja tang soup was tasty but the soup barely came with anything really in the soup - not even that many potatoes. Just a bunch of onions and pork bones that were difficult to eat and not too much meat. The spicy rice cakes tasted so odd - it was very sweet and the rice cakes did not taste like other rice cakes I have tried ( in a not so good way). Service: 4/5 - The service was alright. The restaurant was not too crowded but we didn't get water refill until almost the end of our meal which was a bit lacking as that is the only kind of "service" we really would want. The employees were kind but I would say the actual service was a bit lacking. Value: 3/5 - The total ended up being close to $70 with tip. My friend had suggested another korean place down the street but we wanted to try out this place and he said the other place was better in terms of value and taste. I don't think I would get the gamjatang or spicy rice cakes again because they were both underwhelming and not worth the price. Overall, I don't think I would come back or really recommend. The interior of the restaurant is nice and clean but the actual food items fell short - especially the rice cakes which actually tasted bad ( and I love korean spicy rice cakes).

Stopped by for lunch on a weekday. I noticed their lunch menu is different from the dinner one--didn't see some of the dishes like the cumin lamb or the Korean crudo I'd heard about. I ordered the yulingi, which was delicious and ended up being my favorite dish. Also tried the bulgogi sotbap, which was $18 on the lunch menu. It seems like they serve fewer banchan at lunch. The sotbap was decent, and the kimchi stew that came with it was quite good. Overall, a good experience.

If you're looking for delicious Korean food with wonderful music and ambience this is the place to go! The staff is VERY helpful and friendly making sure that you learn the true way to enjoy these amazing dishes well. The bulgogi was seasoned soooo well and the side dishes were yum!! The Galbi was also BANGER. I'm definitely going to head back here another time to try something new!!

On this cold winter night, I headed down to Providence, RI, to SottPVD to try some authentic Korean cuisine. At first glance, the restaurant was beautiful--real hip with nice decor. Service was good as well. Now, let's get into what I ordered. First up was the Chicken Gangjeong--boneless Korean fried chicken coated in a savory soy sauce. This was absolutely delicious--10/10! Then came the main attraction: the Grilled Chicken SOTBAP with all the fixings. Omg, this was incredible--9/10! If you're ever in RI, this place is a must-visit.

    Kimchi hot pot
    Francisco P.

Sott Korean restaurant in downtown Providence is one of those restaurants every foodie should check out. The place is spacious, trendy, and spotless--perfect for a cozy lunch or dinner. The lunch menu is simple but packed with tempting options. I went with a party of four, and we *completely* underestimated how much food we ordered, ending up with a table full of deliciousness. We started with three shareable dishes: the kimchi hot pot, the Jjajangmyeon wok dish, and an off-menu special that our friends requested with rice cakes, fish cakes, and quail eggs. Then, we each ordered our own sotbap. I had the bulgogi sotbap, which came with rice, a rich kimchi stew, spicy cucumbers, sesame-oil broccoli, fried tofu, and tender bulgogi. For around $25, the sotbap was the most delicious assortment of Korean food I've had and an incredible value. Honestly, one dish to share with the sotbap would've been plenty, but who's complaining when you've got incredible leftovers? The shareables were phenomenal too. The Jjajangmyeon dish had a salty, savory sauce paired with slurp-worthy noodles-- I can't think of a single word to describe them except addicting. The rice cake dish was decadent and satisfying, with a perfect balance of textures. The kimchi hot pot was different than I've had before: instead of being served raw ingredients and broth to mix at the table, it came mostly prepared, though the meat was still raw, and we cooked it at the table. While it was tasty, I think we could've skipped it with everything else on the table. The service was attentive, and the atmosphere was lively and fun. I noticed disco balls hanging from the ceiling and couldn't help but wonder if the place transforms into a different vibe for dinner service--I'll have to come back to find out. If you're in Providence and love Korean food, Sott is a must-visit. Just be mindful of how much you order--it's all so good, but the portions are very generous and your stomach can only handle so much greatness at once!

This was an interesting experience, my first at this type of restaurant. (The tables have a hot plate in them for some of the food) We really enjoyed the two chicken plates that we got for appetizers, the sauce was amazing. The beef entree we ordered was good, it wasn't a huge portion. The bar had a very limited menu, they didn't have Captain Morgan rum. The hostess was very friendly and helped with getting the check and filling our water. They give you chopsticks and a spoon to use for the meal, so brush up on those fine motor skills! I loved the water glasses used. The restaurant is quiet and is conveniently located in downtown Providence, a short walk from PPAC.

I walked into a space that is small and moody, the kind of room that feels lived in rather than designed for a particular aesthetic, and it suited the casual neighborhood feel of the surrounding area. The hot stone bibimbap is the dish that comes up most consistently and with the most enthusiasm. I ordered it and the stone bowl arrived sizzling. The rice along the bottom edges got crispy against the heat in a way that changed the texture and flavor of the whole dish as I ate through it. The beef and mushroom tofu versions are both well executed, and the egg on top finished the bowl correctly. The katsu is a solid option for anyone coming in looking for something more straightforward. I tried it and the breading was crispy while the cutlet inside stayed tender, and the sauce ratio was handled well rather than drowning what was underneath. The gyoza, japchae, seafood pancakes, and yaki soba fill out a menu that covers enough ground to satisfy a table with different preferences. Side dishes are served in modest portions, which was the main point of friction for me since I am used to more generous banchan. Food came out at a good pace and arrived hot. For Korean and Japanese comfort food in Providence, Den Den is a reliable and genuinely satisfying stop.

First of all, Sun & Moon feels like a home-y Korean restaurant. The owners are Korean and I'd come here when I crave Korean food. I will caveat that it's not necessarily the best Korean food I've ever had, but it's probably the most authentic you'd be able to get in Providence. The vegetable pancake was surprisingly really good - crispy around the edges, right amount of veggie to it. This one I would recommend - it's legit. I've also had the knife cut noodles which is pretty good, but different than the kind I normally get at other Korean restaurants -this one is more seafood forward which is usually not the case at other Korean restaurants. The spicy rice cakes were a bit mid - I would skip out on them next time. The rice cakes didn't have a good chewy texture and they were quite pricy too. The tonkatsu was actually pretty good, so when I got the tonkatsu udon, I was expecting that too be good as well, but the udon was way too salty and had too much MSG flavor, so I couldn't finish it. Overall, cute little place to come when craving Korean food. Menu is huge and not everything is a hit on the menu, but if you know what to order, you'll hit your craving. Parking is street only!

We came across this Korean fried chicken joint on the ever-popular Thayer Street, and at around 10:30pm on a Friday night, we were one of the only ones in the restaurant, so we were immediately seated. You can order up at the front from their extensive menu ranging from various types of Korean fried chicken to more classic Korean fare (such as bibimbap and soft tofu stew) to Korean street food like Ddeok-Bokki and corndogs. The owner was a Korean halmeoni and she was absolutely hilarious - she conversed with us in both Korean and English, and was more than happy to put up with our rambunctious group. We opted for 24 pieces each ($46 for a 24pc) of their Golden Original Wings as well as their Hot Spicy Wings. We also got an order of Ddeok-Bokki ($16.95) and Veggie Soft Tofu Stew ($14) for the table, as well as soju and beers all around (there's a large variety of Korean sojus in the fridge!). The wings were great on a cold night, especially when paired with the soju and beer (ever heard of chimaek? It's a combination of chicken and maekju, which is Korean for beer). The Golden Original flavor wings are simple dry wings with a perfect ratio of crispy breading to juicy chicken, with a good amount of meat on the bone. Their Hot Spicy Wings (3/3 hot chili peppers on the menu!) live up to their name, but aren't unbearably hot - they're the same chicken but tossed in a delightfully hot yet tangy and sweet sauce. They're fairly expensive for wings, but since they're both meaty and expertly fried, I won't complain. The ddeok-bokki wasn't bad, with chewy rice cakes in a sweet and spicy chili reduction sauce, although it was a small portion for the price. We enjoyed that it came with fish cakes and a boiled egg, which is an unexpected bonus of protein in a usually carb-heavy dish. The veggie soft tofu stew was pretty disappointing - it just seemed like they dumped chili powder, random vegetables, and some soft tofu in a pot and then called it a day. This was a great stop for some good Korean junk food on a late night, with friendly service and reliably good chicken. The owner was incredibly kind and let us stay until midnight, even though the restaurant's hours say that it closes at 11pm. I'm sure this is a popular spot for college students, and it's easy to see why!
