    Pad Thai with Shrimp
    Jenna H.

Mmmmmmm this place was delicious! Everyone in our group was very happy with their meals. The shrimp pad thai was phenomenal, super tasty. The bomeen was also very yummy, it was our first time having anything like that. It came with a broth too, which added to that flavor. Good portions. We got the Rangoons as an app. Very tasty but not worth the price, the portion is awful! Only 4 small skinny sticks for nearly $9. They also have a full bar. It was very busy on the Friday night, but we still got our food in a timely manner. Was about $100 for 3 meals, 1 app, and 3 alcoholic drinks.

The quality is above average, something I've had a hard time finding recently with AYCE establishments. Service is great. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we got all our rounds in, even though we were dining close to closing. I didn't feel rushed out whatsoever and appreciated how the portions are reasonably sized. They don't overcrowd the table and make you more mindful of how much you'll order next. The individual pots are a huge plus for me. Everyone gets their own broth to cook whatever they want within close reach. The DIY sauce bar is only icing on the cake! Shabu will fill you up, especially on a cozy winter night. If you're looking for the best season to try, though I'd argue shabu always hits year round, take this cold RI winter to give this place a go.

The thing I've always liked about LaMei is that they always have fresh options. For AYCE the portions are pretty good. I wasn't expecting to get as much as I did for an order, so something to think about when placing orders. Sometimes you might get a couple of lonely mushrooms or 3 green leaves for a serving of Bok Choy. That was not the case here. The fish and meats were fresh and if you opt for the VIP option, there are appetizers included to nibble on while you cook your other stuff. You also get some more premium options and the hand pulled noodles had a nice chew to them. The service was good. They were efficient with cleaning plates as we used them and the food came out quickly. The sauce station has all the staples you'd expect to assemble your sauce. The AYCE option makes things a bit more affordable, but even if you don't use it, the fresh food will make it worthwhile.

I wanted something different for dinner and this place has been on my list to visit for a while…read more There were plenty of parking spaces to choose from. When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.

We asked for waters as well and let the waiter, who was always available, know when we needed a refill. Everything we ordered was tasty, fresh, well prepared and nicely presented. I had expected a bit more spice on some of the dishes, but they were all very mild, so if you are worried about Sichuan spiciness or heat, you can put that worry to rest. Chopsticks only are at the table and although we didn't ask for forks, I suspect they could rustle some up for you if needed. The hot & sour soup is good according to my SO who gets it everywhere (and will let me know if it's a thumbs up or down). The décor is lovely and everything is clean, including the gender neutral restroom. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant and service was excellent. I walked into a space that is small and moody, the kind of room that feels lived in rather than designed for a particular aesthetic, and it suited the casual neighborhood feel of the surrounding area. The hot stone bibimbap is the dish that comes up most consistently and with the most enthusiasm. I ordered it and the stone bowl arrived sizzling. The rice along the bottom edges got crispy against the heat in a way that changed the texture and flavor of the whole dish as I ate through it. The beef and mushroom tofu versions are both well executed, and the egg on top finished the bowl correctly. The katsu is a solid option for anyone coming in looking for something more straightforward. I tried it and the breading was crispy while the cutlet inside stayed tender, and the sauce ratio was handled well rather than drowning what was underneath. The gyoza, japchae, seafood pancakes, and yaki soba fill out a menu that covers enough ground to satisfy a table with different preferences. Side dishes are served in modest portions, which was the main point of friction for me since I am used to more generous banchan. Food came out at a good pace and arrived hot. For Korean and Japanese comfort food in Providence, Den Den is a reliable and genuinely satisfying stop.

Their menu selection is extensive and well priced! They also give rather large portion sizes, and have an " all you can eat" option starting at just $35 per person! They have a variety of options, including those for meat lovers and vegetarians alike! The addition of sesame balls and shrimp dumplings on the side is also a must, as they offer ( as the name says) various selections of delicious dumplings! They also have a large selection of condiments and add-ons to the hot pot on the side of the restaurant. Lastly the servers were very kind and apologetic even after they gave us a non-fully vegetarian broth ( the mushroom name was misleading) and even offered to give us an entirely new pot. I thought this was very sweet and considerate of them. Overall, the experience at this restaurant was wonderful and we will definitely be back for more.

We went with half Japanese Style Pork Bone Broth and half Mala Beef Tallow Broth. We ordered all the seafood/ball options - Cuttlefish Ball, Shrimp Ball, Fish Ball, Fish Tofu, and Quail Egg. From the meat options, we ordered Chef Selected Beef, Australian Lamb, and Pork Belly. From the vegetables options, we ordered Napa Cabbage and Baby Bok Choy, From mushroom options, we ordered both the Enoki Mushroom and Black Fungus. From the tofu options, we ordered Fresh Tofu and Fried Tofu. From the noodles options, we ordered Glass Noodle and Ramen. All the items were very fresh and the staff were very attentive.
