When we went into the restaurant there was only a couple there and the rest of the time it was just us. The service was pretty bad considering we were the only ones there. Their grill is plugged into a loose outlet so every 5 minutes or so, we would have to steady the plug. The meats are not great for what you pay. The pork belly is a thin piece of bacon. I agree with other reviewers when they say the meats are not fresh. The place isn't that clean either. Do yourself a favor and drive another 30 minutes to k-pot in NE or over to cheltenham for kbbq. read more

This restaurant is not recommended by myself and my friends and family. They don't have much businesses traffic going on during the busy hours, so must be their foods are not that good and the food pictures from the menu are looked different from the actual food items on the plates and when we cooked on the hot table stoves and there's no hood ventilation exhaust to direct the smoke outdide from our eating area on the hot stove table. I feel the food is not fresh or not very well prepared as authentic Korean BBQ restaurant so I found ihe food have no tastes after it was cooked and they charge so much money per person and the food wasn't that good so definitely we will not be going back again. Our family loves this place. This week we visited Wednesday and then again this Saturday. This place feels like home. When I call for a reservation and mention my Last name- they Greet me like family. They know who I am. When we arrive the table is set. The waitress and waitress look at us and say do you want the "regular". They just know what we want. This is a very busy place when the place is full. But we are asked often - if any add'l food is needed. The tofu soup comes out bubbling hot. We always get selection "B". All you can eat is the BEST for our family. When the owner Kim is in the restaurant, he always finds the time say hello. Kim also sends us on the house surprises. The waitress/ waiter will bring 2 bottles of soju and we look at them and say we didn't order that. And they say it's on the house from Kim. He just made our table celebrate even more. And then 2 bowls of cold noodle soup was delivered to our table- Again from Kim on the house. Kim has treated our family and friends well. When family arrives from out of town, this is where we take them. We will continue to eat at Surah! We love eating here as a family. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

It was 6pm and it took them 20 mins to give us the second order of raw meat for our all you can eat Korean BBQ. We chose A, that was $31.95 per person. There was only one other table that was eating all you can eat as well. I was about to ask if I could have their raw meat to cook and eat since our second order took so long. Eventually, our second order came out. We got the 3rd order quicker. The 1st, 2nd. and 3rd was the same meats. It was the galbi and bulgogi. For the 4th order, we asked for pineapple and shrimp. We waited for that and our 2 hours was up. We never got the pineapple, but it appeared on our check. We won't be coming back because of this slow service. This is a typical restaurant claiming to be a Japanese/Korean place operated by Koreans. The food wasn't bad, but I've had better Korean and Japanese. The bonchon wings were ginormous, but it didn't have that "twice-fried" texture. The sushi was decent, but the wasabi didn't have it's kick. The sindobu (hot tofu soup) didn't come with many options and I found it a little on the bland side. I enjoyed the pah jeon (seafood pancake) - it was crispy, had large pieces of seafood, and the sauce was a nice touch. The service was decent. They were attentive, but didn't go the full mile. We had a private room. And when I asked for water, the waiter would return and drop a couple cups off and a pitcher. He did not pour the water or even notify me that he dropped the cups off at the other end of the room. Overall, I don't think it's a bad place. But the prices are a little steep. I can dine elsewhere for a little cheaper and better food. By coming here, you're paying for the upscale decor and BYOB option, which in itself could be worth it (Date night?). I was so excited to have found this place. Finally a Korean BBQ place in the area, however I was disappointed with the overall experience. Walked in and we were greated right away but after that everything was subpar. Food: just okay. Some options were better than others. Favs we're the Hawaiian steak and chicken bulgogi. Not so great and lacking flavor was the beef bulgogi which was very surprising. Service: needs definite improvement! Refills for water were very far and few in between and just trying to get a hold of wait staff was like searching for a unicorn. There were only 3 other tables when we dined so I couldn't figure out why the service was slow. Overall the place is a solid three, want to come back but honestly not sure if I would. I had heard pretty poor reviews about the Korean restaurant it was before but heard good things since the conversion to AYCE BBQ. I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor and quality of the meat as we all got the level A ($30). We got four sets of the chef's special that included ribeye, kalbi, marinated kalbi, and pork butt, and man, we barely survived eating it all (but we finished it!). I also got the naengmyun (cold noodle soup), and it was delicious! The owner's mom apparently owns a naengmyun restaurant in Korea, and it showed. This place is just so-so. Too many inconsistencies for anything but an one star review. This place is in the Spring House shopping center towards the end of the block. At first I didn't even notice it because the sign wasn't even lit up! There's a small OPEN sign by the front door. We had a private room for 8 and all opted for option A. About $32 a person for all you can eat which also includes kalbi. We ordered two items off the menu and they gave us four orders. Two of which we obv. did not order! We did eventually end up sending it back. The service was so slow. I mean they took forever to get our orders, water refills were seldom, and it was too smokey in there. They also used infrared heat instead of using gas flame or charcoal. Meat wise some were decent but inconsistent. A. The chadol (beef brisket) was good. A little too thick cut for my taste but good. B. The dae pae samgyupsal didn't really have much flavor and it was just ok. I preferred the regular thick cut pork belly. C. Galbi - pretty good but the more we ordered the saltier it became. We mostly stuck to the chadol and galbi. Meat wise it wasn't terrible. It was pretty decent actually. Quite unfortunate that the grill (only cooked the meat right in the middle) wasn't great, too smokey, terrible service, and some of the sides were just whatever. Especially the cold rice. Great food, great service. I literally just left the restaurant and I can that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We called ahead for a party of 5. We were put in a private room with 2 burners. The staff was very attentive as we waited for our entire party to get there. We sat, looked over the menu and ultimately went with choice "A" which is the more expensive of the options ($31.95/person) but it had much more than option"B". We ordered our first platter of meats and from there it just kept coming. The food was brought to us promptly and for the first few go arounds, we ordered the next set of food as we cooked the first. The guy proceeded to say that they closed at 9:30, and if I was sure if wanted to eat there. I repeatedly said we would not take that long, and he kept repeating the same thing and not seating us. This is so unprofessional and made me highly uncomfortable. If we only had an hour and 20 minutes, then we shouldn't been seated right away. There was only one other table. I went to Surah for All You Can Eat buffet and I read on yelp review (from 2014) that there is $25 all you can eat... since the review is from 2014 I called to make sure. The person who picked up said the deal still exist. When I arrived there the deal was not on the menu and the server told us the deal doesnt exist.... I was definitely ticked off about that. Came with 11 team mates from my dragon boat club after a tough two-day race and we were RAVENOUS. We went for option A which cost $30.95 each but included significantly more options. When we first arrived, I would have given 3 stars for the experience... we were told that our mini $4 bottles of soju would warrant a corkage fee of $8 each and that a 6 pack of beer would be $8. There was absolutely no mention of this fee on any of their websites, which I think is very misleading! Fortunately, the management made an exception and we were able to fully enjoy our soju AND the all you can eat food (including various bulgogi (favorite), pork belly, galbi (another favorite), steaks (hawaiian steak!!), and other meats; soups like soondubu and noodle dishes; pineapple, mushrooms, and onions). Overall, we really enjoyed the marinated meats (bulgogi, galbi, hawaiian steak) and we kept the plates coming! When we were winding down on each plate, we would quickly order more (the restaurant has a 2 hour policy). They come around and change out the grills pretty frequently, but if you don't want to wait for the grill to heat up, you can definitely politely refuse a grill change (it'll slow you down---just do 1 or 2!) read more

Shok (spelling? sorry dude!) who works the front desk and takes orders is the man to see. He has a great read on people and can point you in the right direction of what to order. I selected option B. Mainly because I had no idea what I was doing and the last KBBQ place I went to kind of let me roam on my own. At Surah, they help you in any way that they can. I ordered the Chadol, spicy pork belly and spicy pork bulgogi. Not a bad 1st plate or selection! Chadol cooks the fastest as it is tin beef. the pork Bulgogi cooked the 2nd fastest and was packed with flavor! the spicy pork belly is my absolute favorite. need to get that bad boy cooked up with a little char on the edges to give it that crunch that I crave. moving onto the sides, I am a big fan of the fish cakes, macaroni, lettuce wraps, and the jalapeno/garlic. all work great when you combine them in a lettuce wrap. I have had the pleasure of ordering the spicy tofu soup! It does have a slight kick and the spice lingers a little bit but It is most definitely worth it! The only complaint that I would have is the size of the water cups that they provide you. They are very small and with the amount of water that most people seem to consume it definitely makes the waiters run around quite a bit for refills. I hope to bring more of my friends and family here as this is the most fun that I have had while going out to eat. Will be returning most likely every week as an end of the week treat! We had an Amazing time at Surah. There is nothing that compares to Genuine Korean BBQ. we pulled up, there is ample parking. We walk in and are greeted right away by the friendly hostess and seated within minutes. The atmosphere was clean and modern. The staff was courteous and helpful. They even changed our grill out when it was getting too hot. The food was absolutely incredible. The all you can eat is definitely the way to go. It was a little overwhelming at first with all of the ingredients they give you. Once you are settled in and get cooking it is such a fun experience. We had Shrimp, Beef, Chicken and pork along with a ton of other things including vegetables. Once we started cooking it was just so much fun. The ingredients were just so Fresh. It was really hard to mess things up. We were checked in on quite often. If you are a meat lover, don't miss this one! Go for the full BBQ buffet and enjoy the thin cut steaks that taste excellent with the lettuce wrap. You can also order some Korean dishes too. One of the very delicious Korean BBQ places in the suburban area. I love the fact that they have the $23.95 all you can eat option, which has great meat selection! Not much of beef, but works for my group and I. We almost always come here a lot because I love the food and service! Their service was so S-L-O-W that it took 40 minutes before we got first tray of meat, and an hour before before we got glasses of water we had asked for. The noodles? We never got them.... We ate without any helps from the waiter which was fine since we were experienced Korean bbq. After we finished the meats and would like to ordered more no one was available so we had to wait again. Finally someone came by so we did. The second order came after we ordered more than 20 mins. We grilled them right the way but the waiter started cleaning our table, took away our cups of water even we were not done obviously. One of them came to us and politely asked us to finish the meal because they had limit 1.30 hrs only on Saturday. WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US when we just arrived??? We were okay to wait for a million years to be served but you ask us to leave!!! We arrived 6:30 pm and they asked us to leave at 8:20 pm. A man called himself Kim apologized us and promised us to give 10% for next visit but would you come back with this experience? The food was just mediocre. They have a wide variety of choices for meats and the marinade is great. The only downside I would say about this place is the service and the speed that they come back to ask you for your next plate of food is long. A great find in suburbia! I arrived to be warmly greeted and quickly seated at a table which was ready - I made a reservation using OpenTable. I ordered the house special steamed dumplings and we each ordered a main dish. Before the dumplings arrived the manager came over with a hot scallion pancake that was delicious! The dumplings came after that, followed by a full table of Korean bbq style side dishes and condiments. They have the best seaweed salad EVER! The dishes were amazing! Maybe my expectations were too large, but I was not impressed with the food at Surah. The owner is someone that has had Korean restaurants in North Philly and the suburbs, and I had enjoyed his food. Sadly, this one was not up to par. The restaurant's interior is classy, with a dining room, sushi bar, and individual rooms for groups. This is something I'm not used to- I'm accustomed to the run-down, bare-bone establishments in North Philly. We tried the Galbi (marinated short rib), Dwen Jang Jji Gae (fermented bean paste soup), and the Chilk Mool Naeng Myun (cold buckwheat noodles in broth). The Galbi was ok, nothing special; there are electric heat BBQ grills at the table. The meat was of good quality, though. The Dwen Jang Jji Gae is where the most points were lost: the broth lacked depth and there was only tofu and squash in the soup, unlike it competitors that put a shellfish or two (maybe even beef) in it. The best dish was the cold noodles- the noodles were stringy and light, and the pickled radishes complemented the great broth. The menu is extensive. They have your standard Korean dishes and a few Japanese dishes. I saw Tonkatsu and Okonomiyaki as well as many creative rolls. They also have a "Ceviche" section, with many varieties of carpaccios. Daily specials, including Korean Fried Chicken, is also available. Overall, a restaurant with lots of potential. It's a little geared towards Americanized taste, which is fine, but a few dishes can use some tweaking. This place would be good for those not familiar with Korean cuisine. I got the "sushi fan," which includes a random selection of sushi, as well as an 8-piece california or crunchy tuna roll. Let me tell you about how I crunchy tuna'ed it up in there, and I loved every spicy, crispy second of it. My fish was so fresh it was practically from the future. My man got udon tempura, which came with thick noodles and a hearty broth, and a bunch of tempura vegetables, which I was not too full to sneak a bite of, and it was superb. We enjoyed all this while surrounded by modern, aesthetically pleasing decor and a polite, prompt staff.
