I first contacted 3 different locksmiths to get a replacement key made for my Volkswagen Passat and no one was willing/able to make a key for a VW. I then submitted an online quote request through Yelp from Sure Lock & Key and heard back in less than 10 min, a tech showed up at my house the same day and he had a key laser cut for me in less than 30 minutes that worked perfectly. WOW! First of all the young lady that answered the phone was courteous, polite and helpful to a degree. I told her I was located in Danbury she said that wasn't a problem and that someone will call me back and let me know if they could help me out. It was 10 o'clock at night and I got locked out of my house so I thought I called a 24 hour locksmith. She called me back within 10 minutes telling me that she cannot help me and have a good night! Now I looked them up on Google and it said that they were 24 hours that maybe true but it's definitely not for this area. Terrible! Scheduled an appointment to have several doors replaced and some repairs. Cost me $200 a door for $30 doors, some $350, but ok. I paid over a thousand dollars upfront as asked, and they gave a start date. I had to pay an additional $690 at completion. They cancelled 6 times! With the lady answering the phone telling me reasons and when I spoke to Tim, the technician he gave a completely different reasons. Hard to remember lies! Some things were forgotten, and some things broke. He came back to do the things he forgot, and left didn't go upstairs to see what was broken. He just left didn't call or say a word. Never again! I got locked out of my condo and had to call an emergency locksmith. Daniel, the locksmith from Sure Lock and Key, came in about 15 minutes and had the door open in two. The price was very reasonable. While he was here I realized how long it had been since the door locks had been changed and how shabby they looked. I had one of their technicians out to the house I had just purchased. I had just bought it and explained that I was having an internet system installed the next day. He then went forward with changing my four doorknobs and deadbolt locks. The security company came the next day and the deadbolts weren't compatible with their system so I had to buy new ones from them. Then I found out the doorknob locks wouldn't be able to be rekeyed to the same keys since their were Schlage and the deadbolts were QuikSet. So I called Sure Lock who sent someone else out. He looked at what was done and told me I'd overpaid by about $900 but that he didn't have the right parts to fix it that night. The next day someone else was sent who changed out the doorknobs with QuikSet for a little more than $300. That means that of the $1400+ I paid the original locksmith, only one deadbolt and the front door handle ended up being used so less than $500 of what I bought. Both of the follow up technicians told me that when I told the first one I was having a system installed the next day, I should have been told to wait and see what they needed. They picked up the phone right away and made themselves available to meet me within half an hour! They answered all of my questions quickly and accurately. Although we didn't realize until after the key was made that with my car I wasn't able to get a copy of my key that could be more than a valet key, (it only allows 2 keys to be coded at once for my 2014 VW), they still took the time to make a valet key and try all they could to make it work. They were professional, kind, and really tried to make it work! They also cut me a huge deal! I'd definitely HIGHLY recommend them! read more

I stupidly locked myself out of my house. Waited for over an hour for the technician to show up (when was promised multiple times that he would be here soon) and then was blind sided with extra charges at the end. He wasn't able to unlock either door to my house- said one lock was too old and the other was too new. He told me he needed to drill my door lock and would be $64 to make the new lock match my current key. Ended up charging me over $200 for it (over $400 total bill when including the lockout fee). When I told the technician that he informed me that it would be $64, he said that it was included in my $200 charge. I can't help but think that the technician who was sent to my house was inexperienced and unqualified and in the end took advantage of someone in a bad situation by overcharging them. Wow .... just wow ..... I have never been more disappointed in myself for hiring sure lock and key. When I initially called them everything seemed to be ok. They sent me out a technician and he seemed like a gentleman, spent hours rekeying 2 tumblers. I had to leave due to work obligations so he calls me says that he can't get the tumbler back in, i drive there and find that he has stripped the threads on both the the lock and tumbler And he has damaged the tumbler that he rekeyed so I had to replace it. I contacted the company for a refund due to the work being unusable and extra damage caused by their technician. I got an email saying that all sales are final and that I should contact the technician... Well the technician had called me that morning called me a liar and my boss "not a smart man" for not replacing a part he damaged ... mind you I had replaced these locks 5 weeks earlier due to somebody who did not work for us anymore having a key. Honestly I would call anyone else , this was a 360 dollar lesson I had to learn the hard way read more

What a wonderful experience! Had an emergency, as we had dropped our keys to our car somewhere while we were out, and needed a replacement key ASAP. They came out same day and made the key right there on the spot. The man who came out was so nice and helpful, and the price was same as quoted, which was VERY reasonable! I has a horrible experience with this company ,when their tech name Larry arrived he immediately told me he fixes only locks he will send the right guy next day guy name Tim called and agreed to fix my door air leak ,he told me the door is not aligned and he will have to take it out abd re install it ,I had two doors the front and back that had issues we agreed on $1150 labour cost including installing a storm door ,this guy destroyed my doors i can't even lock the door without slamming it ,there is more air leaking than before, I just wanted my baby not to be cold while playing in the living room buy I got conned, whats worse is this company didn't do anything about it ,they immediately got to damage control by ignoring me ,they work with peoples locks but they have serious lack of trustworthy employees. I have posted this experience on social media and had a gentleman reach out to me with similar experience, that telks me the company is aware of their employees are not trustworthy, yet they continue to send them to work with ur locks .we have decided to find more people who got effected by these guys and take to consumer bureau,and even local news channel, their employee charged me a epic amount of money week before Christmas through fraud. read more

Do not use them! I waited 2 HOURS for the locksmith to show up. His excuse was that the previous customer "loved my lock so much that wanted me to change the entire house's locks at the last minute". He quoted me $2,000 for 7 locks, when I decided on just one front lock for the first job. He went ahead changed the lock within 10 mins, then charged me $537! Just one set of lock-and-handle combo! He said it counted as two locks and 1hr labor ($147) was the minimum charge. I was so stupid not to inquire his price before he started the job. I emailed and called their customer service and no response. Also be aware of all the electronic transaction via some sendajob App, the process happened so fast that I could not do much other than put my signature on the screen. I was coming from far to change the lock in a neighborhood I was not familiar with. All this stress added to the vulnerability of being taken advantage of. For sure, no more Sure Lock! read more

I sent in a request for service at 10:30pm and Daniel called me back within 10 minutes. I was shocked to hear back so quickly and late at night Daniel said he could meet me at my new home the next day to rekey the entire house I just purchased. The next day it was snowing pretty hard but Daniel called me at 8:00am to schedule the service. Again I was blown away by such great service. He even offered to come pick me up from my hotel since I was only here for a couple of days from CA. We agreed on a time in the afternoon after the snow stopped somewhat and I got to the house 30 minutes early and Daniel was waiting for me. He went over he job and being a little picky about color and he actually went and got the exact door knobs and dead bolts as requested. He did the work in record time. I have done a lot of remodeling on my house in CA and I wish the contractors in CA had the same customer service and professionalism Daniel and his company represent.
