This was our first time dropping him off and so were a little stunned that they just took him and told use to pick him up at the end of the day. (No really it was the best after the initial shock that we wouldn't help him with boots etc. - Great school). Anyway husband needed a new pair of gloves so we stopped in the Patagonia store - and in the course of conversation with David it came out that he had some experience with the ski school and proceeded to allow us to pepper him with questions for a good 10-15 minutes and really put our minds at ease - but also encouraged us to keep our son going with the snowboarding practice. In the middle of all of the questions he also helped my husband with gloves, socks and a belt. Overall the experience was made by David and his friendliness and taking the time out for us!

I also had the luck of finding a pair of ON cloud tec, multi colored running shoes in my size at half price. The bonus on these was a rubberized, outer finish for rainy weather. Be sure to peruse the entire men's and women's clothing selection. You will find creative, designer sportswear that you don't see everywhere. I had a hungry man at my heels so I missed a lot.

Getting fitting out for rentals is tedious in any case (with 6 year old in tow).. but it's the bright faces of the crew and their efficient work that truly make all the difference. In and out.. as quickly as we could possibly be! Super happy with the equipment, guidance and help. When we were nearly late to our ski lesson, they helped out tremendously. When I wasn't sure about fit of the boot, they had all the info. When we wanted a harness for our 6 year old (he was FLYING at a speed we weren't comfortable), Toby and Erika were there to help. He was transparent about all the prices and accommodated our desired budget. He explained the fitting process in full detail making sure the boots were a comfortable fit and would work amazing on the slopes. He also answered all of our questions patiently. When one of us was deciding between two ski options he gave us an accurate side by side comparison so we could make an informed decision. He also gave us marked down prices to reflect the summer season. He sold our friend to come here next season to buy skis. He knew we were leaving town the same day so he got the ski bindings done in 15 minutes! The policy with the skis also includes a two year fitting warranty. Thank you Harley for being fire!!

When I returned my ski equipment, the employee briefly asked how it was, then immediately turned to another customer mid-conversation. I had to interrupt just to get my own shoes back. To make matters worse, they ran out of ski poles, and an employee actually suggested I "take one from someone else." I ended up having to go to another location to find what I needed. For premium prices, this was by far the worst service I've experienced. I've skied at many mountains, and the lack of professionalism and basic customer service here was shocking.

But I purchased my lift ticket and bike rentals days in advance, so they had my contact information and email address... Wouldn't it be incredibly easy - and really appropriate - to send a quick email informing that operations were closed today? It would take them no time at all to have done this. (It can and should be as simple as an automated email!) Instead, I drove an hour and a half each way, only to find out when I arrived that they had long ago made the decision to close, and just never bothered to inform everyone they took advance payments from. It's 2021. This would've been so easy to implement. This was really, really bad and left a bad taste in my mouth. Again, it's not the closing that's such a bummer - it's the total neglecting to do the right thing and let all the prepaid customers know not to bother driving up. If either the rental office or the lift ticket office had done this, this all could've been solved in advance, but neither business bothered. skipping out on the basics like this and forgetting about the customers has really turned me sour on Northstar altogether.
