Another concerning issue was that our exterior unit had been broken into, apparently it happens on a regular basis, despite it being a "secure" climate controlled building. Then there is this extrnsive process to file claims for stolen or damaged items. They want proof of purchase on all items lost. Then they had a sprinkler leak in our unit that destroyed much of our documents, keepsakes and photos. They cut the lock off without notifying us in advance. Again a claim was impossible to complete and the list goes on and on, and was brought to the management's attention, multiple times but they seemed to not care, and even seemed annoyed that it was even brought up. Oh, during a four year period they raised our rent from $175 to $579 for a 10x30, knowing that we had moved out of state. When we moved out the unit ) which we put off too long like most storage renters) it was full of rats which had destroyed half of the contents! I can't access it, don't know where my items are, and because it's after hours, I cannot get hold of the store manager. I called the 1-800 number, and they also cannot assist me. No one has any answers. I did not receive a call or a text, and not even an email stating my items were being moved, damaged, or that there was a concern about my unit. Cubesmart, you're completely unprofessional, disrespectful, and disorganized. My experience with Cubesmart is the antithesis of award-winning as their marketing states, and far from good customer service. It's 8:50 pm as I am writing this, and I guess I have to wait until tomorrow morning to see if my items have been lost, stolen, or otherwise. This is not how you treat new paying customers. I will be reporting this experience to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) because this is unacceptable to have no answers and no access to your items when you've paid for your storage unit. The units are actually smaller in my experience. I actually ended up measuring a few units after already being charged for the unit and signing the contract. Once I measured about 4 of them after already being charged and signing a contract for the unit it became apparent that the units are actually 9 x 14 size units not as they advertised for a 10 x 15. The only reason we got the unit was for the advertised size and well unfortunately it is falsely advertised. It's unfortunate that we had already signed the contract and paid for the unit because we really needed all the square footage that was advertised on their website for the unit. Any ways just thought that everyone should know about this discrepancy before committing to a contract so you can actually get the size you truly need. Make sure to have your measuring tapes ready to measure before hand unlike us.
