I dropped my board to repair a couple weeks ago and the owner I guess had told me a final price for the service, today when I stop by to pick up my board he add extra 10 $ for know reason before grab my credit card was 80 then 90$ after slide my credit card 90 plus taxes. The good is that I asked 4 or 5 times about the price and it was always 80$, surf garage you own me 10$. And I will never stop at this place again. If you have no choice ask him to write in a paper the price and sign it down. Be serious. read more

It has taken me 5 years to write this great review! My younger brother passed away with a heart condition 5 years ago and they just took me under their wing! We had to ship back 7 custom boards to the Mainland and they took care of every detail.....helped us bring in the boards from out of the rain and treated every board as if it was their now. I dropped off my timberek firewire for repairs. I had a couple dings and a little gouge on my board. The estimated time was 2 weeks and the quoted cost was over $100, but they got it done in under 2 weeks and the price was much lower than $100 and.... My board looks amazing now!!! I also picked up a new FCS center fin for about $20.00 - awesome pricing!!! All around they are knowledgeable, helpful, fun, easy to work with and their repairs are amazing and great pricing!! I will DEFINITELY be back for ANY surfing repairs and gear!!! Can't say enough how AMAZING this surf shop is!!! Thank you all at the Surf Garage for all your help!! From beginning to end, the staff was very helpful and at tentative. The owner helped me a lot and gave me helpful advice to improve my surfing. They have a ton of new and used boards. I would give them a 5th star, but I was told by a few other shops that I could of gotten the same board for hundreds less. I didn't shop around so I guess that's not a good thing when it comes to getting the best price. If you have the cash and want to help fellow local surf organizations then go to surf garage. Expect great customer service with an excellent amount of board selections. I just really wish this particular new board was a few hundred less, but in the end, I don't mind paying to have great quality customer service. You don't see that too much around here in town at least from my experience. read more

cool surf shop...if you like vintage/retro boards and have some bucks to spend you should check this shop out. Lots of parking in the back and they have some of the coolest old school boards in there along with Takayamas and Christenson fishes. The staff is really nice and it has a very homey feel. I sell my used boards in there...sometimes you can get more by taking it there than selling on craigslist or surfboardshack.com...the Japanese will pay more for your board depending on the condition and brand. read more

I like this store. A little pricey but the designs are nice, the boards are nice and the staff is cool. I was looking for some Futures side byte longboard fins for the longest time. Nowhere in town had them but these guys did. I'd give them 5 stars but the parking here is pretty blah. If you can't find a street stall next door good luck. And like I said they're kinda expensive but you can't blame them for that. You gotta think you're getting what you pay for and this place is no exception for quality materials. read more

Great location in town with parking on the street right in front of the store. It does not look like much from the outside, but once you walk in, you enter into a surfers dream !! They have a large selection of fins, surf videos, stickers, and apparel. You can rent the used boards, with the option to buy, and having your rental price deducted from the purchase price. Went here looking for a 2+1 setup for my longboard. I went to another surfshop right down the road from Surf Garage and was totally treated like I was an idiot. Surf Garage took the time to listen to what I needed and help me choose the right fins for my longboard. My longboard feels like a totally different board now. I will also be back to Surf Garage to order a custom wetsuit. This is the only place that I know that will take your measurements and have a guy in Japan make me a wetsuit. If you're looking for some cheap, great quality rental boards, forget the exorbitant rental prices at Waikiki, head on over to Surf Garage (that is, if you can make the trip). Went in there today to look around and price out some boards. I'm still pretty new to surfing, so going into a surf shop can be daunting. I often don't know what questions to ask, etc. and get overwhelmed. The staff was great - they really made me feel comfortable and asked me questions to help fit me with a board. I would DEFINITELY return here to purchase a board. Toru was awesome! He set me up with a sweet used board and all the things to get me going on my own. Having only surfed once before, Toru took my abilities into consideration and recommended a board that would be tough at first but would also be a good board to grow into. I left the shop and went straight out to try out the board. It was a little rough at first but by the end of the set I was riding some waves! Overall he and his staff were awesome. After 40 years of surfing, I buy surfboards and surfing-related merchandise in Honolulu from only 2 surf shops, and this is one of them. Toru and his crew know their stuff, are friendly and helpful, and not pushy. Went in looking for a Firewire, and left with a Brice for much less money, and which turned out to be the most fun and versatile shortboard I ever rode. They sell the highest quality surfing-related merchandise that will last a surfing lifetime. They even sell wood and cushioned, multiple-surfboard, wall-mount racks, which I've not found at any other surf shop in Hawaii! read more

We were looking for some new single fins. When I checked out their website there was a photo of their wall of fins, and that's pretty much what brought us to Surf Garage. I also have a friend who always gets her boards made with someone at Surf Garage, and she rides a single fin. I was happy to know they have one of the widest selections of fins. By far the best surf shop on Island for the people who enjoy riding waves on any type of board. Best classic longboard selection, best selection of Fish and alterna-boards, great shortboard collection including a HUGE Firewire display. This is all topped off by the most knowledgeable surf shop staff I have ever encountered (they actually surf!) Very nice and extremely generous! They are the definition of Aloha and friendliness. I asked if they had any wax combs for the rental board I had at the time and they hooked it up with free wax and free comb. I would recommend this place to everyone. read more
