Rude staff and definitely rude hipster kook that "overlooks" the board section. My 4 year-old daughter wanted to touch the boards, and I am standing right there with her proud that she thinks they are so "pretty". He comes over with his ego and skinny jeans and says "hey bro make sure she doesn't knock any of these over" and shooting dirty looks at her. Um, you mean the 25 pound plus longboards behind your protective rope?! Yeah, ok. If she was trying to pull one off the wall, I could understand, but touching while I am right there saying "daddy these are so pretty"? We are definitely not those parents who lets their kid run wild in any store. She is highly supervised, almost too much. I'll NEVER buy a board from you idiots and I will NEVER step foot in here to purchase a bar of wax, let alone anything of significance. Horrible customer service staff not friendly. I stop by the Surf Ride Shop in Oceanside on Coast Hwy to purchase board shorts for my daughters boyfriend. Having never been in their shop before I was looking around trying to find the board shorts. The staff members were standing around talking did not offer to help me or ask me if there was anything that they could help with. They were not that busy. I figured being that it is the Christmas season they would like to make sale apparently not. I will never shop at a Surf Ride shop again. read more

We shop in here a lot but got particularly good service today buying a wetsuit. Ben was super friendly and knowledgeable about the different brands' wetsuit fits for twiggy teenaged boys. I bought two boards in one visit from this shop and they didn't even offer me a free leash or pad for either board. Ohhh wait they gave me 4 bars of wax. The guys selling the boards are not helpful at all. They had a large selection of boards yet bad service and not friendly. I will make sure I never buy a board form them ever again. They should at least of pretended to have been excited for us that we were buying some boards in their store. DON'T shop here. Spend your money at another shop instead. read more

Surf Ride is by far the best surf shop in Oceanside. They have a great selection of all things surf (& a skate shop too!): wetsuits, boards, bikinis, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc. The store is big & clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful - you can't ask for nicer people. I love shopping in the women's section. They carry all kinds of cute clothing & accessories. They also have great sales periodically & a sales room in the back that always has great stuff. Additionally, the owners of Surf Ride are so supportive of the local Oceanside community and the local surf industry. They are wonderful people and we always enjoy just stopping by the shop. read more

I've been going to this store for thirteen years now and they never disappoint. This store has everything you need. They have in style clothing, shoes, flip flops, and an enormous supply of beach, body board, and surfing gear on the second floor ( this includes an endless supply of new and used surfboards). And the icing on the cake is the store's employees superb customer service. Every time I go there I am greeted by the staff and asked if I need help. Just yesterday when my wife and I were trying on wet suits, one of the employees who was clearly on a break on his way to the break area asked if we needed help. I did ask him a question and instead of directing me to someone else, providing an effortless answer, or scoffing at my question, he was very helpful. I personally think customer service is what makes or breaks a business and they've always been great. That's why I've been a devoted customer for so long. I have received some of the best customer service here, than I have experienced anywhere else in the past 5+ yrs. These guys truly bend over backwards to help you find a good board and take care of you throughout the entire process pre/post sale. I had an issue with some fins that I purchased and these guys spoke on my behalf to the fin manufacturer and made the situation right....needless to say they put customers first and I am really impressed with the dudes that run the boardroom! Just got my girlfriends board from here, the guy upstairs in the board area was very helpful and extremely knowledgable on the vast number of shapers and their models that they stock. I finally settled on the mosterbox and my girlfriend loves it. It preforms exactly like the store person suggested it would.
