Surf Taxi has got to be the worst taxi service I've ever had to deal with. This is literally the 4th week in a row where I call them and they're either 40 minutes to an hour+ late, don't show up at all, or have no taxis available. Maybe if your workers weren't too busy picking random people up while we're in the car or doing other stuff that has nothing to do with their job than they'd get their job done. Called this place a couple times for local rides in wall township and today even needed a quick pick up ... They are never available and the woman on the phone is not pleasant. HORRIBLE- Called for a quote and to schedule a taxi to arrive in a half hour for an elderly woman who cannot simply stand outside and wait in 35 degree weather and lunatic woman dispatcher told me call when you are ready and hung up - Phoned back and she told me - You were told what you needed to know and there is nothing to discuss and HUNG UP AGAIN! Horrible service. Called for a cab, quoted time is three minutes. Wait about ten, van pulls up without enough seats and we share one seat between the two of us being there are other riders already in the car. Speaking with the other passengers we realize they live over twenty minutes further than we live and the driver refuses to drop us off first even though we would be passing our house to get to theirs. After arguing with the driver and asking to get out, he refuses and pretends to be unable to hear us over the inappropriate music he's blaring. We ended up opening the door forcing him to pull over and getting out on the side of the parkway. We called an Uber from there. This is why people use uber. Never suggesting this horrible service to anyone, our Uber driver however was great even though we didn't have a real Address for him to get us from. Use Uber. read more

I'm was out of town visiting family and needed a ride to Newark airport at 2:30am. After learning that no airport shuttles would come as far as Asbury, and fearing there wouldnt be an Uber or Lyft drive available in my area at that time in the morning I called Surf Taxi. The call was picked up immediately and the dispatcher answered all my questions. I ordred the taxi the night before. The cab driver, who was not the dispatcher, had my phone number and called me when he arrived which was 15 min before my scheduled pick up time. He was very courteous, helped my husband and I into the car, drove very safely, played easy going music and at a low decibel. This is a 5 star, professional cab service from every aspect. I'm very impressed and just want to say thank you to Surf taxi for getting my husband and I to the airport safely and on time at an early hour. read more

This my favorite taxi company. You get good, dependable drivers, but there a few slackers in the bunch. They have availability 95% of the time. The dispatcher Dorothy is awesome, and the drivers are all very knowledgeable of the area. The major majority of the cars are are clean & comfortable. Kumar in car #3 is the best! I chose Surf Taxi to shuttle 16 girls from Asbury Park to Manasquan for a bachelorette party based on their positive, albeit few, Yelp reviews. However, it is now my pleasure to drastically bring down their overall rating after the horrific behavior of their nighttime dispatcher on the night of June 16, 2012. The first trip with Surf Taxi went well, except for the fact that we were charged $8 per person, as opposed to the price quoted to me weeks earlier of $16 for the first person and $1 for each additional person. Annoying, but whatever. They really earned this review when I called at the end of the night to inquire about having cars pick us up. The dispatcher unhelpfully replied "we don't have any cars in that area." Ok. I then very politely asked "can you tell me how long the wait would be until there are cars in this area?" to which the dispatcher yelled "I am not sending any more cars to Manasquan because the police are ticketing us!!!" When I suggested that maybe she could have told me that information off the bat, she proceeded to repeat my words back to me in a mocking tone! I couldn't believe her nerve after the business our party had just given them! So if you want a taxi service that goes back on their word, is unaccommodating, and is staffed by astonishingly ignorant and rude people, go right ahead and call Surf Taxi. If not, just walk out onto Asbury Ave. and choose any one of the other many taxis available. read more

Went to Asbury park with friends for a concert at the stone pony. Decided to splurge and cab it there and back from Red Bank. Getting to Asbury early via cab is never a problem...however, getting back seems problematic. We called shore cab and got a constant busy signal. Called Tops Taxi and they said they didn't have anyone available to take us. Finally we tried Surf taxi and had success. Dispatch was friendly and helpful, and a cab arrived within minutes. Nice clean taxi with good AC. Our driver was Roy Johnson...and he was so nice! We will use Surf taxi again on future occasions. Very professional. read more

Cab drivers winder WHY people take Uber??? Uber comes WHEN THEY SAY. These drivers are sloppy and unprofessional. They always make you late for work if you are not the type to call half hour before your shift, even if you live 5 mins. away. They have ZERO consideration for anyone's time or money. And when you complain, you get nowhere. Asbury has the rudest cab companies EVER! I prefer to deal with A1 taxi in Eatontown. Much more professional. On Sunday, May 5th, 2019, I was crossing the intersection of 3rd Ave & Pine St at between 9:50 PM & 10:05 PM. As I approached the intersection, a gold van {Surf Taxi} driving on Pine Street stopped at the crosswalk, as a vehicle was passing on 3rd Avenue. At that moment, I walked into the crosswalk, since I thought it was safe, because the cab driver was stopped as the car driving on 3rd Ave. was passing by. Suddenly the cab driver moved forward almost hitting me. I turned to him as my immediate reaction was to hit the windshield of his vehicle with my umbrella & shouted out "What's wrong with you"! He yells at me saying, Why are you in my way?! I yelled back, "Because I have the right of way"! "I'm in the crosswalk, I have the right of way! He lowered the window as i got closer to his driver side, he reached for something underneath near the steering column area. The cab driver had a metal or silver object, holding it as if it were a gun pointing it at me while a female passenger was in the back of his vehicle. I do not know what the object the cab driver was holding, but it looked like a nickel plated 22 caliber handgun. So I said what are you going to do with that huh? Then he acted as if he were going to get out of his vehicle, but then sped off. Afterwards, I went to the cab station to find out who the driver was & what cab car # was he in. The Surf Taxi stand door was closed, but when I looked at my clock it was 10:06 PM & Surf Taxi has a sign on their door that they close at 11 PM. So then I called Surf Taxi as I walked outside to go home. Ann, the dispatcher answered & I asked if she could give me the name of the cab driver & the # of the cab he was driving in? She said that she had know clue of what I was speaking of. I repeated myself asking for the name & # of the cab driver. She refused to give me any information. I told her what had happen & her reply was to call back in the morning & report it to management & abruptly hung up on me. I called back & it went to voicemail. That's when I called Super Cab to bring me to the police station to file a report. Officer J. Diorio took my statement & went to investigate who the cab driver that almost hit me & pulled out a makeshift weapon out on me was. So I wrote this same letter to Mayor John Moor of Asbury Park, NJ, Cindy Dye, Michael Capabianco, & David Kelso who are all on the council of Asbury Park, NJ. The mayor sent over 2 detectives, but neither detective brought in pictures of the drivers who happen to be driving the night of Sunday May 5th, where the Surf Taxi Cab driver tried to hit me with his vehicle, then pull out a makeshift weapon on me. I all know is that a thorough background check NEEDS to be done to insure that no harm comes to the pedestrians in Asbury Park. And these taxi cab drivers NEED to learn the NJ Driver's Manual front to back & KNOW who has the right-of-way when entering a crosswalk. read more

We were waiting in front of the house and he never showed up. 30 minutes later I call back and the driver says he arrived and called me, which was a complete lie. Very bad experience. The car was filthy full of chip bags and empty Coke cans.Also the car it self was making a very loud noise and when the taxi driver asked me something I could not hear. So I responded with wait what. Then with attitude he said "Do you freaking speak English " I look Latino so he thought I couldn't speak English . Then he asked if I was Mexican which I am not. I am Puerto Rican. After that he gave me a dirty look on his mirror and raised his voice. I was unpleased with my experience with Surf Taxi. I will never order a taxi from there ever again.
