Beautiful store! Looks really small from the outside but such an amazing selection of clothing. Beautiful dresses with embroidery, amazing detail, easily the best find I've seen since moving to North Carolina. It's like a Nordstrom surf shop. The staff are so friendly. Upon walking in I was greeted by the nicest employee Who chatted me up and showed me Some of her favorite incredible finds. There is a lot to look at and you could spend hours in here because every single square inch of this store is use. There is some thing for the entire family that can be purchased. I do wish they had more selection for little girls and little boys. The majority of kids clothing from what I could find was baby and toddler ware. Some of it is pretty spendy but you were buying quality clothing here that was picked out very intentionally. I was sad to see the dress I wanted was $285. But that being said there is a variety of options for every budget. The items in here are artfully selected. So much treasure in earth at this darling. read more

This place is great. We decided to rent bikes when we arrived and headed over to Surf Unlimited. The staff there was very patient and helpful as my family (including 7 and 9 year old very picky bike riders!) tried all the bikes to find the best fit. The rental process was as smooth as could be and the prices were very reasonable for a full week rental. The bikes themselves were in great condition, rode like new. We thoroughly enjoyed riding them all week. We will definitely be back next year to rent and were told if we ordered ahead of time, the prices would be lower and they would be waiting at our rental when we arrived. We have rented Bikes here the last two years and this year tried our hand at Paddle Boarding. They consistently have the good quality newer bikes and we've never had an issue with the equipment or delivery. This year they set us up with a couple of paddle boards for the day and we launched under the bridge as instructed... playing the current with the incoming tide. Scooter recommended starting out in the canals to get our legs under us... which was not a problem with the big boards he set us up on. We then explored the backwaters behind the west end of the island before returning with the tide to the boat ramp. We decided to keep the boards the remainder of the week and now that we are back home we have decided to purchase some boards for our next adventure. Be sure to get them to give you a 5 minute garage lesson and explain the tides and areas to paddle. read more

I wholeheartedly recommend Surf Unlimited. They have an amazing number of surfboards, kayaks, SUPs, etc for rent and for sale. More importantly, I love when I find a local business like Surf Unlimited that has owners/employees who go the extra mile to make everyone who comes into their store feel like they are getting taken care of on a very personal level. Awful people. They made a mistake and didnt provide me with a pad that came with the kyack. I didnt know any better and my butt hurt for 3 days. When I brought it back, they claimed that they provided it and I was lying. I suggested they do an inventory and I would wait. Unfortunatly, they dont track inventory. The woman running the place claimed that they dont make mistakes and threaten to call police over the 50 buck part. I would never steal or lie about such a trivial thing...especially when spending a boat load of money on a beach vacation. They treated me like a criminal and it was insulting. Never rent from these people as they are not customer oriented and they run their place poorly. Btw, they didnt call the cops because my brother in law was with me, he is an officer and told them that I didnt recieve the part...as he was with me when we picked it up. Kind of comical that people like this can stay in business. If you want to get better service rent your kyacks, biked, umbrellas from saltys. They are about 100 yards away and a million times better. read more

We came in several times to try to rent a paddle board. They would not take a deposit or in any way help except to say you just have to be here to get one when someone else brings one back in. Wasted lots of time coming in again and again. Would be much better customer service if they would keep a list and call you or allow you to make a deposit that you would lose if you did not come back in. Obviously were too busy to make things right for customers. We found a board at a different place that called us when one came in. You can never have too many customers to not listen to them. read more

I'm always able to find exactly what I'm looking for whether it's a new pair of shades or a cute new suit and on top of that the employees are always so helpful in finding what you need. Rented surf board earlier in week and all went as it should. Called and reserved six kayaks that were supposed to be delivered to our house today. Shop called and left message that I had to come to shop and sign papers although hours earlier I was told they already had all my information. When I called although shop was still open they could not deliver nor could I pick up our kayaks until the next day at 10am. We are frequent visitors to Ocean Isle and I will never rent from this shop again! Our 6am kayak trip is not happening thanks to the poor management of this surf shop! read more

went upstairs tuesday to rent a board for the next day wednesday.. They said we are closed wednesday. I said, So I can bring it back thursday morning since your closed, yah but we will charge you for 2 days. I said can I get a break since i only want it for one day. They said nope. I said, it cant be rented since your closed so your not losing money with the extra hours. Another Mom/Lady walks up and says "you can go rent somewhere else"!. Most people know that so a remark like that is purely sarcastic, So i did rent elsewhere and I hope other people do too. Guys downstairs are probably nicer than up in the poser surf shop. read more

My family & I have owned property in OIB for over 25 years and have been frequenting Surf Unlimited for nearly as long. What started as a small surf only shop has grown, just as Ocean Isle has and we enjoy visiting the amazing staff & owners every time we are in town! They are so knowledgable about everything that they sell & rent ... From surfboards to sunglasses. I trust that they will always be honest with me & my kids and are not just trying to make a buck on us, even if it's just deciding between 2 bathing suits. We started renting beach equipment from them years ago and have since purchased kayaks, paddleboards, and surfboards. Everything that was sold to us was exactly the fit that we needed and we have enjoyed all of them. My son actually damaged one of the surfboards that we own & one of the downstairs guys was kind enough to repair it for what seemed like no cost at all. The girls upstairs are amazing in their own right ... my girls absolutely love going in to shop with them! They're so excited that Surf Unlimited now has Facebook & Instagram so that they can shop from Charlotte! Though I know there are other surf shops around, we have never felt much need to go anywhere but Surf Unlimited! Thanks for all your help, advice & honesty over the years! read more

BEWARE. I rented a surf board for my son. I paid for a week-long rental. The agreement they have you sign says that if there is any damage to the equipment you rent, you will be responsible for it. Within 30 minutes of use, the leash broke. We returned to the shop within 3 hours of renting the board to get a replacement. The woman who runs the shop was rude and patronizing to me in front of my 13 year old son, and even suggested that he was lying about how he treated the board. She said I would be charged to repair the leash. With that news, I asked to have the remainder of my rental canceled and refunded. She refused. What's more, She kept the original board I rented, did not provide a replacement, said "this conversation is over", walked away and kept all my money. BEWARE. There are many other places to rent equipment at Ocean Isle Beach, so I would definitely suggest looking elsewhere. read more
