What a great find. We rolled into this place at the end of long morning of driving. It's a basic sandwich shack at the side of the road with picnic tables ( or takeout). The sandwiches are amazing. It might be the bread that makes them taste so good. Or maybe the fresh stuff inside (avocado, cheese, tomatoes all tasted so fresh). Top tip: the grilled cheese is the best I've ever tasted. OK OK, I went back because of all the high ratings. Yes the cheese steaks are good. I give them 4 stars on those along. Service is very friendly too. The different sandwiches are conveniently priced the same - $6.91 plus tax. They are large. In terms of quantity and quality, you are getting much more for your money than at subway where you will pay $7 to $8 for a similar sandwich. Yes, I would go back. read more

Truly fabulous sandwiches at some of the best prices on the peninsula. Sure the old surfer shack with outdoor tables leaves a bit to be desired in the way of ambiance, but the food makes up for it. Have tried the Turn Turtle and the Hawaiian cheesesteak and both rocked! read more

We really do love this place. The cheesesteak is as close to a Philly suburb cheesesteak as you'll find. I say that b/c Philly proper it's a different deal with Pat and Gino's and the wonder of cheez whiz. However you hit a suburb deli and it's a great thinly sliced chip steak, gooey melted white cheese, minced onion and soft fresh baked hoagie roll. These guys do a great job as well as making the bread themselves. They are really nice and seem to have their system down. We've had a number of other sandwiches as well as the fruit smoothies. All tasty. Warning: they don't always open on time and they close when they're done. I've come right at open, had to wait and didn't get a really fresh roll. I suggest waiting until they are in the swing of it and popping around. read more

OK, I'm a local. Not that that means anything special, but I do have a chance to eat around the area more than if I were a tourist. I also own a motel here, so I get feedback from my guests that eat at various places. Anyway, this place is the best sandwich shop on the Long Beach peninsula. I give it 5 stars based on being the best in the area, not comparing them to say the best Philly cheesestake in Philadelphia say. I eat there fairly regularly. All the fair is great. Never Home is right! Their sandwiches and smoothies are fabulous, and if you're hankering after a salad, you can order all the sandwich fixings on a nice bed of greens. The pizza place next door IS owned by the same (very nice) fellow, who makes his own sauce and dough. I'm usually not much of a pizza fan, but I just drove 50+ miles to get one of their take-and-bake pizzas. At a mere $15, their "large" combination will barely fit in the oven and is FABULOUS! They also have a pepperoni and probably some others for just $10. If you're a coffee fan, they just started roasting their own beans this past year. I've not had it yet, but it's probably just as great as everything else. Kudos to this great little bistro! read more

Best sandwich I've ever had, bar none! I got one of the veggie sandwiches because of the good variety of veggies on it, and added bacon! The bacon was fresh tasting and thick, and there were lots of black olives, avocado, tomato, onion, lettuce (the good, leafy kind, not those horrible shreds!) and it was perfectly dressed. Incredibly fresh tasting! There were three (yes 3) luscious slices of Swiss cheese, not just one slice! And the bread? Geez a-mighty, what fantastic home-made bread. It's soft in the middle but chewy and sort of like a good French bread on the outside. Never had bread like it and I make my own bread. The slices are thick, an inch at least, but never dry, all soft and fluffy and chewy all at once. And Jason was kind enough to join us at our table, where we had the best chat about local places and the new regs for signage. I hope everyone on the Peninsula gets a chance to visit this place and tell all your friends! I heard it was the best sandwich ever, and it is true. read more

I just moved into town and love this place because it makes a great sandwich and I am close enough to ride my bike! It's not the best sandwich I ever had but I still have a lot of choices from their diverse menu to try! I am sure that perfect sandwich is in there somewhere. They also have great specialty sandwiches too! The two sanwiches I had were tasty and all the ingredients including the bread tasted fresh. Both were cold sandwiches but I think their specialty is hot, grilled ones so I will have to try one of those next. Bottom line is they keep me coming back for more! read more

Was driving thru long beach and wanted some place easy to stop at seeing i needed a place I didn't have to back up in. it was a Saturday and nice day too. Stopped here and happy we did , we got sandwiches and bread they used is killer , fresh ingredients , was very happy with the sandwiches we got .
