(Kari's Rating 8/10)…read more Came for an early dinner as we were seated by 5:30. I actually love coming to eat early because the servers are a little more attentive since they just started their shift and the service is a little faster as there are less tables. Let me tell you, though, whatever we came it was quite busy with graduations and family dinners-which I didn't mind at all! What ate a relatively large meal as I had eaten a smaller lunch. We started off with the wedge salad and a yellowtail sushi roll. The wedge salad was pretty average, but the dressing was really delicious. The yellowtail was also pretty good and the jalapeño topping gave an extra kick last minute. For the entrées, we ordered the scallops as well as the pan seared Chilean Seabass. The scallops are buttery, rich, and had a perfect crispy crust. The Seabass was flaky and light-overall a very good combination of flavors. We got a side of the broccolini and then the crème brûlée and a piece of Keylime pie to go. Overall a very filling and delicious meal-I was pleasantly surprised with the scallops and how light the sea bass was.

Every single dish was exceptional. We started with the clam chowder and lobster bisque, and both were unbelievably rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the crab cake was loaded with crab and perfectly crisp, and the sushi was beautifully prepared and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The lobster roll was overflowing with sweet, tender lobster on a buttery toasted roll, and every bite was perfection. There wasn't a single item that missed the mark. The service made the experience even better. Terry was absolutely phenomenal--friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had an amazing meal. He offered fantastic recommendations, checked on us at just the right times, and made our last day in Chicago feel truly special. Outstanding service like his is hard to find. The beautiful riverfront view was the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable meal. If you're looking for seafood in Chicago, stop searching and go to Legal Sea Foods. We left talking about how this was the best meal of our entire trip, and we'll absolutely make it our first stop the next time we're in town. Thank you, Terry, and the entire team, for giving us the perfect ending to an incredible Chicago vacation!

When we arrived, I was surprised to learn that bar seating for Happy Hour is first come, first served, despite being able to request high-top bar seating when making the reservation. I completely understand the policy, but it left me wondering why that seating option is offered if it doesn't reserve or guarantee a table in the bar area. We waited a bit until something opened up and were eventually able to find a spot. Once seated, we received water quickly, but it took a while before our server stopped by. She noticed we didn't have a HH menu and said she'd bring us one. Unfortunately, that took quite a while as well. Rather than continue waiting, I pulled up a recent HH menu on Yelp, so by the time she returned, we already knew what we wanted. I was just trying to cut down the additional wait time. We ordered a beer, several Happy Hour items, and clam chowder. The HH food items arrived first, but the beer never did. After we asked about it, the server brought it over. We enjoyed our appetizers while waiting for the soup, but it never arrived. We eventually finished all of our food and drinks, and only after asking again did the clam chowder finally come out--at the very end of the meal. That said, the food was outstanding, and the HH deals are hard to beat. The $1 oysters were definitely on the smaller side, but for a dollar each, can't complain. Overall, I really enjoyed the food. Everything was beautifully presented, made with high-quality ingredients, served at the proper temperature, and absolutely delicious. I visited the Boston location some years ago, and I'm happy to say the Chicago location lived up to that memory (food quality and taste wise). Our server was friendly and pleasant throughout the evening, but the overall service was very slow. We found ourselves having to flag someone down multiple times to check on missing items and the status of our order. This wasn't the level of service I expected from a restaurant with Legal Sea Foods' reputation. While everyone was courteous, the timing and coordination of our order could have been much smoother. If the service matched the quality of the food, this would have been an exceptional dining experience. I probably would return for the food and Happy Hour and hope this visit was simply an off night for the service.

The stir fried garlic string beans were good, but nothing special. My favorite was the duck dish - the plum sauce gave it a nice sweet flavor profile. The wait staff were a bit impatient overall - but that's how you know the food will be authentic at a Cantonese restaurant lol. Wait time for us on a Friday evening was about 25 minutes.

They played a birthday song over the speakers and let us bring a cake to the restaurant. Service wise, would give this place a 10/10. The food was really unique and special, you don't see a lot of these dishes at Chinese restaurants. The menu had many many different options to choose from. We shared the twin lobster sticky rice (came with 2 lobsters for $88), the salted yolk pumpkin, and the pork belly chicken soup. The soup was good but the white pepper taste was a bit too strong. The other dishes were on the heavier, oily side but they were really delicious. There were generous portions of lobster. They served a really nice, fragrant jasmine tea with dinner which they kept refilled and pipping hot. Bathroom was clean and the restaurant has a beautiful design inside that's nice for parties of 4 or larger groups for family style dining. There's plenty of paid street parking options, around $5 for 2 hours. I would recommend giving it a try!
