This used to be such a good Doc's now has been overran by unsanitary workers who don't care about how they put your food and send it out this is the second time that I had an awful order within a month of purchasing food from here they never make your order right either and you can ask for everything on there and they say okay and they do it another way as if they can comprehend what they're reading and this is my last time going to this Docs I don't even want my food remade they gave me dirty bread I don't even know how they got dirt on stale bread old fish and every time I ask for extra tartar sauce there's never none and I was charged for cheese and it was not on the sandwich ridiculous now check your food before you leave out of this place I ordered over the phone and when you order over the phone it's never ready when you get there and it's never prepared how you want it read more

I went to the Docks Fish on 119th off Ashland and waited 25 minutes for cold stale fish. Then when I got it home and bit into it the fish sandwich had 3 staples in it. Needless to say I'll never be going back again . I paid $26 for that crap ! read more

Full disclosure I only ordered fries. This place is next to a 24 hour spot where the spouse likes to get their hair done. So, while waiting in the car on a cool drizzly Chicago night I got in a snacking mood. I am a bit of a French fry snob and decided to get some from this place. I admit I was tempted to try the fish sandwich that they are known for but held off. Despite being known for their fish sandwiches the menu is varied. Upon placing my order and it being about 30 minutes from closing the food was kept at a minimum. This was in my favor as all was being cooked as ordered and nothing just sitting under some heat lamps or refried. I was only parked around the corner and when I got back to the car, they were piping hot. You know one of those when you take a bite you got your mouth open because you are afraid to bite. The food is excellent. Chicken and Fish well seasoned. The staff not the friendliest but they aren't rude. I think it's because the have so many people ordering and it creates a delay in food coming out and people get angry. That also counts for the freshness of the food. I haven't had anything that taste like its been sitting in a warmer. I have been going to Docks for years since they were on 87th and Dorchester. I had a Fishwich jr sandwich that was a big dissapointment. The fish was so thin that I could barely taste it. So apparently you have to give them your phone number at the counter when you place an order because the guy told me that sometimes people walk out (maybe wait in their car or go somewhere else) and when their order is called they aren't there to get. That's fine and dandy. I wasn't going anywhere. I planned on waiting there for my order. Apparently the system they use(i was told by the guy taking the order) requires them to put in a phone number. I wasn't comfortable giving out my info for a random sandwich, especially when I knew I was waiting there for my order. I said to the guy that's weird and gave him a fake number just so I could place an order. Then asked for a name for the order even though the receipt has a number on it which is what they called when my order was ready. "45, 45, 45" Damn I heard you, I'm coming. Dock's just ain't what it used to be. Me and my boy Richard F. used to slam Fishwiches from the location on 87th. Over time we went less and less. That location has the worst customer service and it takes FOREVER to fulfil orders. I was pleasantly surprised to see this new location. For +20 years I believe there was only one Dock's. I ordered delivery. They started off all wrong by forgetting my Dockberry shake. If you're a true Southsider, (not one of these Johnny come latelies that think it's a hip new trend to live South of Bridgeport) you'll understand this is unforgivable. I'll cast that egregious mistake aside because it could've been the drivers fault. Overall still 3 star worthy. Not delicious. Not bad. This place was not it other than the great art work. This place was not anything I would go back to. The food was just blah. I ordered the fish sandwich they said they were famous for. It was just okay. No seasoning really. The fries were not hot and had no salt at all. Nothing special about it. I got extra tartar sauce only to learn it was packages. We were a group of 7 who wanted to eat in the restaurant. There were not enough seats at all. The tables were all wobbly. There's not restroom for customers. I repeat, you cannot even wash your hands because there's not a restroom at all. I had to go next door to the hair salon and they so graciously allowed me to use their facilities. A friend got the banana pudding. Well, it tasted like lemon Oreo cookies. Nothing like banana pudding. The tea was good. I think that may be the only reason people still go to this place. I arrived 15 minutes after they opened and the line was already out the door. I ordered a fishwich and a shrimp tease. Pros: Food tasted great, was hot and fresh, and I received my order within 10 minutes (way faster than 87th street). Cons: Shrimp tease only comes with three shrimp and a fry as opposed to five, and the price for some items are higher ( I expected this due to location). I subtracted a star because the shrimp tease only comes with three shrimp, which is disappointing for what we expect from Docks. read more

First visit at this location. My usual Docks is of course 87th Dan Ryan. OK, so this location is very nice. Great design, nice seating, Great Wall pictures. The food comes out fast compared to 87th BUT the taste is not there yet. My food was just ok. It wasn't hot. It's as if they've cooked the food ahead of time; which is why I'm guessing they have a quicker turnaround. I ordered 3 fishwich and the lettuce was "dead" totally brown. REALLY!!! The service was great , the cashiers were friendly the food was fresh. However, the catfish steaks were not seasoned well, and the portion were small(3pcs)steaks. Deep sea nuggets were ok. When I go to Docks it's has more sentimental meaning then anything, especially on 35th street. My grandmother use to take me to Docks every Friday for the famous fishwish meal with the amazing docknerry shake. Never been disappointed..till last evening. I was so happy about the fact that not only black owned but that it was brought back to the now in Bronzeville. This my first time coming but last night was totally different. This isn't the Dock's of the pass. I was driving down 35th street when I spied the DOCK's sign. I drove around that long block to get back to the restaurant. If I could've seen the future, I would've keep on going. The sandwich was a great disappointment. It had no redeeming quality about it. The bun was falling apart, a sign of staleness, the fish was not flesh and the lettuce and tomatoes were limp. And the cold slaw was "OMG" (bad). I read same reviews that stated the meal was delicious, so Dock's management, if we are reading these bad reviews, make sure all the meals are good. There is no love or pride in the food preparation and it shows. If I lived closer to the store, I would've taken it back for some kind of satisfaction. The employees are destroying a timeless Name. I live in Bronzeville here in Chicago. When the pandemic arrived we had to stop going outside and could not use the store in the beginning. But as time went on Dock's started using DoorDash and we were able to get our favorite fish from them and what a blessing that was. Dock's never fails to give you fresh fish all the time and I remember the taste of the fish and the Dockberry shakes....nothing has changed except the locations. I remember the Dock's on 87th and the Dan Ryan and would always go there and then everybody in the neighborhood lined up outside their door when they opened here in Bronzeville. It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday We stopped by the CCH location recently to grab some take out since many of my favorite haunts in the area have now folded. Ordered 2 Fishwich and 2 Dockberry milkshakes, $36.45. Everything costs more, so no point in tripping on that. We were 2 miles away and thirsty when I realized our drinks weren't with us. Pulled over, Google'd the phone number, went back to get what was missing - no drama. I guess I was looking for a 30 year old memory that could not be regained. Spongy bread, extra charge for cheese, even the shake didn't seem as thick as it once was. And no matter what you order, the combo is designed to set you back at least $30 minimum for two people. It's 2:00 pm Friday afternoon. I order catfish; order #131. I wait. It's 2:19; multiple customers have come behind me, all have left with their respective orders. I inquire about my order. The young lady says catfish is dropped when ordered and takes 8 minutes. It's been more than 8 minutes. She then inquired of cook staff, I can hear the bickering.....the order was completely overlooked! The same young lady asks if I want refund. No apology! No regard for my time! Nothing! YES, I want a refund. I leave with my $9.14, no lunch and 20 minutes wasted watching other customers. I tried to call to speak with management, they didn't answer phone. The food is great! However, they still haven't gotten their ordering system down pat yet. Orders are made in no specific order, first customer in, last out and vice versa and you could end up waiting 20 minutes, as I did, for a shrimp tastee (3 shrimp and a handful of fries). Come to find out, my order was sitting on the counter all along...no apology rendered. Also, the music is so loud that the customers can't hear their order being called. When you make suggestions on how to satisfy customers, they just ignore you. They also need either headphones or an on ordering system in the back so that they can stop shouting out orders to the cook(s)who spends a lot of time playing around. This place needs help. I just ordered my family and I some food, and I must say I should have went to Sharks. I ordered a catfish nugget combo and my daughter a 4 wing combo and I literally had to argue with about a can pop a can pop!!!
