She assigned my friend a seat all the way across the crowded venue. My friend asked if she could pull a chair up and sit down, and the manager told her no. In fact, one of the first things she said to my friend was, "If you're handicapped, how did you get in here?" My friend, who's in her 70s, walks with a cane and was afraid to traverse the venue in the dark, because of trip hazards. She stood on a ramp for 2 HOURS, holding onto a railing. This staff member stood 10 feet behind her. When my friend asked her for her name, she said, "I'm not going to tell you." And when my friend was leaving, this woman called after her, "Goodnight! Thanks for coming!" Little fact for you: my friend was in the music business for 30 years, and handled the biggest clients and their money when women were generally relegated to sex objects. She founded famous music venues! She put up with a lot and deserves your respect. This woman by her web image seems to be general manager. She's definitely someone who can fire people, because another staff member was afraid (!) to help my friend for fear of losing their job. Blue Ocean Music Hall, you need a new general manager. She's an ADA lawsuit waiting to happen and has no empathy, graciousness, professionalism or sense of hospitality. She behaved like a straight up bigot and has no business working with the public. Obviously, she knows this, or she would have offered her name like a professional. Do better.

We arrived just after our friends who advised they had already ordered their drinks. Our waitress arrived promptly and took our drink order and then vanished. No drinks for quite some time. A manager came over to ask if anybody had visited us, apologized for the delay, and returned with our drinks. I'm estimating it was a bit over 30 minutes or so before drinks arrived. Our waitress did return, apologized and took our food order. I wasn't so sure about ordering sushi, but glad we did. The maki we tried were very good, fresh and beautifully presented. A great start. We switched gears for our entree and went with a parpadelle bolognese. A nice generous portion that was as good as some of the Italian spots in the area. Our friends also enjoyed their dishes. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. I would easily have given 4 stars, but the service needs improvement. You would need to plan to spend at least a couple of hours for a lunch. In our case it was not a big deal as we were enjoying time with friends, but I can understand the other negative reviews now. We do plan to return to work our way deeper into the menu, and hope they will have more staff to help with the front of the house.

And honestly I was really impressed with the back deck area, a pretty good amount of seating and a straight view of the ocean. The food actually was pretty good. But the service, like the other reviews I am now reading agree with, is this place's downfall. You seat yourself, then it takes 30 minutes for someone to comes over. The table wasn't wiped down between groups so we had a visually dirty table. Need menus? Okay 20 minutes after you sit down and then they will disappear for another 20 getting those for you. Then hand them too you and disappear for another 20 and at this point you have decided not only your drink but your entire meal because you have been sitting with the meal for so long. A cocktail, lemonade and water? You guessed it, another 20 minutes. It was like this the entire time. After we got our drinks, it genuinely took 40 minutes for the waitress to come back over to get our food order. It was insane?!! She was nice when she was there but as soon as we finished talking she ran off again before we could ask for refills or where the bathroom was. We were f u l l y ignored and ended up having to spend over two hours for what was supposed to be a quick beach day early dinner. We were starving by the time we got our food and were all pretty hangry. Tiny drinks, my friend's $14 drink was mostly ice and a massive orange slice, like two sips of drink in there. Got elote dip, which was actually pretty good but it came in a cup??? Like a drink cup? (Pictured here) so you couldn't dip your chip in??!? Like just a badly set up business. And had a small handful of chips, not enough for even our small party (3). They need a full overhaul of their system. I saw plenty of servers and the restaurant was a little less than 3/4 full, can't imagine how they operate when at capacity. In summary, not going to go back because nothing was there was worth my money. As a local, just eat at home or bring a picnic if you are visiting. (The only thing on the boardwalk worth the money is trying the "beach pizza") Upset about my $120 down the drain.

We had great service from our waitress, and even met the very pleasant owner/hostess who told us a bit more about the restaurant, menu and live music options. We did not get a chance to see the upstairs dining room, but the main floor was very nice, warm and cozy. The menu leans Thai, but I would say the is really Pan Asian. Food was served promptly, hot and delicious. I really enjoyed the Thai lettuce wraps, fresh, clean and delicious. The plate was served with just the right amount of chicken to lettuce ratio. It seems some restaurants struggle getting the ratio right, forcing you to ask for more lettuce, crackers, etc... Not here. We also enjoyed the Golden Bags small plate, which were crispy and delicious. Red Curry main entree was quite good. Heavy on vegetables with a thick red coconut curry. We saved room for dessert, and chose the Chocolate Roti. Perhaps a little bit of a misnomer, as it was two tasty roti filled with Nutella, and served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Sort of like an ice cream sundae. While the menu is quite clear about it, I envisioned something more chocolatey. All good! Cocktails were also creative and delicious. We will definitely return and work our way deeper into the menu.
