Food was okay but overpriced. The view of the ocean was nice but the area around the restaurant was a bit rundown. The website made it seem like it was an upscale restaurant but it had chain restaurant vibes. So many better options in nearby Newburyport!

I ordered the steak and fries with chimichurri and the steak was good but there was no chimichurri to be seen. If you want steak and slightly sautéed onions on top of fries this is the dish for you. Definitely disappointed. My first drink the glass had someone else's lipstick on it, the waitress was apologetic and replaced it quickly with a new martini. We had a large group and the waitress was awesome! Unfortunately the food has gone downhill especially for the price.

I came here for my anniversary dinner and it was amazing. We were sat next to the windows and watched the sunset with a bottle of wine. It was beautiful. Heather was our server and was lovely. She had very kind eyes. We started the night with the crab cake and bang bang shrimp. The crab cake was outrageous and the bang bang shrimp was veryyyy spicy. For entrees, we split the haddock and the scallops - instead of the potatoes both dishes come with, we subbed with mashed and lemon risotto. It was a perfect combination. We ended the night with espresso martinis and crème brûlée, both perfection. Will definitely be back again!

    Best cocktails, Ube ??

Food is delish, and Service is Top notch! The Cocktails, Yummy! Above all ... is the very Best view of the ocean, with a window seat, feels like Im on a cruise ship!

Seafood casserole looks a lot better than it was. It was gross And Lobster risotto with sea scallops

Beautiful ocean views, friendly service. But when it came to the food, what an absolute disappointment. I got the baked seafood casserole and it was full of disgusting tiny bay scallops and for $40. I want real scallops not bay scallops. It was so gross. I couldn't even eat it.

Food is to die for.....service is impeccable and the ambiance of the Seaglass Restaurant is so inviting with friendly faces in professional attire while watching the ocean waves splash against the windows. Honestly quite an experience! *Highly recommend this place. You won't regret it! My favorite is the poached eggs benedict for brunch.

Seaglass has spectacular views. If you snag a window side table (and the windows have been cleaned), then you will be in for a treat. We've been a few times and have found service to be pleasant, but food is a bit slow coming from the kitchen. On our last visit, we were there to dine with friends and see a comedy show next door. We advised our waitress, and she assured us not to worry. Nonetheless, with a 2.5 hour dinner window, we had to rush at the end and no time for dessert. She admitted that most everybody is waiting to go to the show so the kitchen backs up. Cocktails were good, and I had the french onion soup as a starter. Classic, old school style and it was delicious. Exactly as I wanted. I went with the halibut special dinner entree and was surprised at how large a piece of fish I was given. It was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. The risotto side however had an unusual texture and was a bit overwhelmed with pesto. As previously mentioned there was no time for a dessert and we had to hustle for the check in order to make our show in time. This is a nice venue overall, and has a big parking lot where diners can park at no charge.

Overrated place. The view is about the only thing this place has going for it. The food is not good.

Ask the Community - Seaglass Restaurant & Lounge

Hi. Is the Seaglass a good place to take active 7 year old twins for lunch?

Not the most ideal. Many people consider the Seaglass a treat and, as such, may find energetic children to detract from their experience.

Outdoor seating was ideal especially enjoying the summer air with my dog. The views are overlooking the marsh and wide open skies. After ordering, received a buzzer to alert when my order was ready. I ordered the seafood platter which was about $45 and a cup of chowder at $6.50. There are fountain options as well as alcoholic canned beverages. The seafood platter was piled high with perfectly fried haddock, clams, scallops, and shrimp. All the seafood was sweet, juicy, and tender. I substituted fries for onion rings for $3 extra. My chowder was also full of clam pieces and potatoes. The consistency was perfect too. I definitely recommend trying or coming here if you have a fried seafood platter hankering after a day in Newburyport or Portsmouth!

On a recent visit, we stopped by hoping to relive that experience. While the lobster roll didn't quite live up to the standard we remembered, the crew was friendly and accommodating, and the brioche roll was absolutely divine. Afterward, we learned the restaurant is now under new ownership, which may explain the difference. I hope the new team can recapture the quality and charm that made this place so memorable in the first place. P.S.: Just a suggestion: tartar sauce shouldn't be stored on the counter at room temperature like ketchup. It needs to be refrigerated to avoid any food poisoning.

The fish tacos are fantastic, and somehow they're offering a $9.99 lobster roll, which is hard to beat. Everything I've tried has been delicious. That visual is the high point. Sadly, it appears what was once a local favorite has become a tourist trap. My wife and I ordered lobster bisque, the haddock-and-shrimp plate, a fried clam plate, and two drinks. I was a little surprised when the total came back just over $80, but figured good food and an authentic lobster-shack experience would make it worthwhile. The moment they called our number and I picked up the tray, it was immediately clear that average would be a stretch goal for this meal. The onion rings were poorly breaded and undercooked. The fried clams were overbreaded and barely adequate. The lobster bisque tasted more like boiled shells than lobster, which may explain the complete absence of actual meat in the bisque. The coleslaw tasted straight out of a Sysco bag--ironically the least disappointing part of the meal. If you're a tourist just trying to check "roadside lobster shack" off the list, Brown's might scrape by. If you want real New England seafood, keep driving.
