Our beach house was only a 5 minute walk to the sand. It was beautiful serenity to be the listening to the waves crashing into the shore and the sea gulls flying over head. The beach was clean and beautiful shells and rocks were scattered through out the sand. We walked along the beach every day to see the sun set on the ocean. My boyfriend & I did sneak a peak at night and because no one was around, the ocean waves were much louder. You can't see the ocean much at night past the waves coming in, so we kept our distance. We did hear 20 minutes in another direction, they found a beached shark.. so we didn't want any surprises at night. Highly recommended for your ocean vacation needs!

I had to remake a whole entire bed in one of the rooms because it was covered in animal hair so there was no double check or cleanliness check. I don't think in that room. It was totally obvious as soon as I started to rearrange the pillows on the bed I noticed all the dog hair all over and I had to rewash my sheets. They did bring sheets to us later, but still that's not what I wanted to do as soon as I already paid a $30 fee to get us in one hour earlier, which I've never really heard of and if you rent Airbnb from him, mom and Pop, then I don't think that they would've done that either. It's all about money to corporation so if you want to not experience a personal stay, do not stay with Meredith lodging

Our party stayed at Sandpiper Retreat in Waldport and after getting settled in we already noticed there was some leftover trash in spots of the garage and crumbs in various places of the house. Not going to ruin the trip and we didn't care, however, 4 hours later we were hearing strange noises around the house and then what did we find? A family of RATS in the garage, Eeeek!!! Reached out to Meredith and they have a very firm "no refunds" and "cleanliness is never 100% guaranteed" policy. Needless to say our trip was completely ruined, waste of money, and we high tailed it out of there and found a hotel nearby. The one funny thing is that one of the neighbors was walking their dog and asked us as we were leaving, "Still got critter issues going on?" (while chuckling). I don't know if RATS are that common along the Oregon Coast but I don't think it's appropriate to rent out a property unless there is complete assurance that the rental is pest free. We deal with enough raccoons when we go camping and this was not expected when booking a "classy" rental. Seems high quality pictures are used for the rentals, and then maintenance and upkeep take a back seat because the way this company operates is taking in bookings, no refund policy, deliver low quality service and send you on your way. If you book with Meredith, you'll never book with them again and quite frankly......they don't care! :)

Terrible experience, very bad and rude communications. When there were issues with the unit the response was basically that they only managed a couple units in the building and didn't really know much about the unit, etc. They promised someone would be right out to address the issues but nobody came. The next day contacted them again and heard back that they had "reached out" to the maintenance person and were waiting to hear back. Turns out the maintenance person was the husband of the contact to had "reached out". Apparently there communication is just about as bad as A1 Beach Rentals. My advice is to avoid units managed by A1 Beach Rentals. I have now talked to others who have rented from them and had similar, very negative experiences. I hope the owners who place their properties with this group eventually realize what is going on.

It was stated it needed to be a 2 night minimum stay she had some time at the end of July which is when we always go on vacation so I picked 4 nights. After I was not charged the entire amount to secure the rental even though I had been given a reservation confirmation I contacted Karen to ask if it was really rented since only half of what was supposed to come out of my account came out. She related to me she had not yet charged me because she didn't like the amount of nights I chose. The Four nights I chose left one night before I came in open and not being used because the people before me using the rental and when we come in wanting to use the rental would have left a day in between. She then proceeded to ask me to either shorten my once a year anniversary trip or pay her for another night stay. I told her we only had our trip scheduled for 4 nights and I was not willing to shorten my once-a-year vacation trip so that she could rent it for 2 days to somebody else and that I didn't feel I needed to pay an extra $225 for an extra night so that she could get her money for that one night. It was a two-night minimum with no rules about how many nights we were supposed to be staying other than a two-night minimum. Since I refused to pay her an extra night stay so she could recoup that one missing date in July or shorten my trip so she could have someone else stay there for 2 days she canceled my trip. Vbro has already taken half of the original amount that was due in order to secure that condo. She told me it would take vbro up to 14 days to refund me that money so now I have to wait for that money to return to my account so I can use it along with the rest of the money I had set aside in order to secure a different condo. It's completely unbelievably unprofessional to contact a renter and ask them to move their vacation around and possibly pay more money so that you don't lose out on money. It's tacky and disgusting. 4 nights is plenty for someone to be paying $225 a night it's not the renters responsibility to make sure every night in the month is accounted for. If you run a business renting out Condominiums you need to understand that there are going to be some times where you don't have a renter in that spot and it is not other renters responsibility to put money in your pocket for days that are not used. She didn't even offer to work with me offer 50% off the night if I took an extra night nothing. I don't understand how it's a renters responsibility when they are way over the 2 night minimum stay to cover any extra nights here and there that aren't being used up by other people who already reserved their vacations as well.

The woman could have just told me it wasn't allowed and then asked me to unplug it but she just berated me as if I were a child. I own an airbnb home and I would NEVER speak to a guest the way that this woman (Brook, I think) spoke to me. If you are looking for a pristine place, don't consider renting from Grey Fox. The units are far from clean and we always plan on doing a thorough cleaning when we arrive because we enjoy a place with a great view and can sacrifice having a spotless place. There is always dust and cobwebs in the corners and the window sills must never get cleaned. For my birthday this year, we opted to rent from a wonderful property management company in Netarts and we were blown away with how professional and kind their staff were and the place was spotless! It's clear from the guest book some people enjoyed their time in condo #8 but for us it did not meet the most basic level of cleanliness or general upkeep of a vacation rental. It felt like more like a Motel 6 hotel than a coastal retreat. Here's a breakdown of our experience with condo #8. Overall pretty run down. Worn down/broken hearth, peeling paint, water damaged walls and more. Vintage countertop & vanity top is cute. Spiderwebs and spiders in multiple locations inside the bedrooms and main area. Several dead bugs (and some live bugs), hair, and unknown substance on walls in bathroom. Towels hung on these same walls. Ick. Badly peeling paint over the bathroom sink. Solid blackish mold growth in bathroom. Rugs in each room are very dirty. Smoke damaged fireplace and dingy/dust covered buoy mirror. Little thing but fireplace lighter didn't work and the "big" box of matches was completely empty. Absolutely gross vent above the stove. Doors rattle all night. (Didn't bother me but might be good to know for light sleepers). Heater is super loud. Heater stopped working. Maintenance came to fix it but it stopped again about an hour later. We chose to be chilly and make due with the fireplace because front desk made it clear they were not interested in fixing issues. Water leak damage in the back bedroom with some sort of orange drip coming out of the wall. One comfortable loveseat. Other seating not great (other "loveseat" is actually two outdoor patio chairs that don't stay together). No additional bedding if it gets cold. View is good. Not the best of the condos. Can't see Proposal Rock from inside (it was winter when we stayed). Heat in bedrooms works well. Great new TV with Netflix. Customer service is lacking, unhelpful, and unfriendly. At the end of the day, for almost $600 for two nights, I expect a little more.

They really book it out (which tells you the cool little place to stay it is.) I am crazy about cabins and the title says it all - knotty pine walls and it has that vintage cabin feel. Pluses - well, the sunsets from here! The owners seemed to have appointed it well even providing plenty of nice seasoned wood for the fireplace, pretty much everything you'd need in kitchen and this seems like a great place for families to stay with the bunk beds for the kids. It's also pet friendly - how cool is that? But one of the biggest pluses, besides the sound of the ocean from your window and a lovely little deck full of sun on a shiny day :) are the BEDS! Oh my gosh - incredible memory foam mattress topper and really soft high count thread sheets. You don't always get that in a vacation rental. That one there earned them the 5 stars along with the most unique "Treehouse" with stunning views. We will be back!

Two Queen beds, a pair of full sized bunk beds, all with real nice mattress toppers. And a super comfy couch, too. The garage is stocked with all the beach paraphernalia you could need including boogie boards, beach chairs and a coupla dozen wetsuits, including YOUR size! The beach is an easy two or three block walk (walking back is uphill). It's GameNight ready. Dozens of games await (Scrabble, Risk, Cards Against Humanity, puzzles, etc). Oceanside is a quiet little town (village? burg?) The Blue Agate (for breakfast and Rosanna's for lunch and dinner are both within walking distance and both real good. Looks like it tends to be booked pretty solid, but if you can squeeze in a couple of days during the week, more power to you.

Anyway, Donna checked us in and she was so lovely and very welcoming. Our room was medium size and with plenty of room for two. Our room was decorated in an appealing retro 80's beach theme. The room was very clean and had everything one would need: towels, microwave, TV, WiFi, storage, and a large comfy king size bed with lots of pillows. Neskowin is a state beach park and the Inn conveniently has a couple of restaurants and a general store on the same property near the entrance and even a food truck (ice cream and waffle cones) and this place is only a minutes walk to the ocean and the famous proposal rock and ghost forest. If you like state beaches and like things conveniently situated, than give them a try.

This place is a bunch of independently open condos that go on a "rental program" so you never know a) how it will be decorated or b) what will be in the individual unit above and beyond the obvious features, bed, etc. Our unit was decorated in full beach decor, in fact, it appears that every time someone in the owners family bought a them a gift it was a shell or a picture of the ocean because the place was covered in them. (smile) All in all that added to the charm of this place. It was a condo so it had a full kitchen and we took advantage of that some of the time. The rest of the time we were hanging at the Hawk Creek Inn. In fact, one night while we were there, a friend that lived nearby had been out angling and gave us an entire crab to eat and a fresh (caught that day by him) salmon. There is a community barbeque grill that we were able to use in the parking lot are of the condo complex. Fresh salmon for dinner with a side of crab, well that couldn't be beat. The owners had a selection of currently released dvds to choose from so when, I unfortunately became ill with a horrible head cold and wanted to rest up a bit I could watch a dvd in the master bedroom while taking cold medication. All in all a good weekend.
