Saturday evening around 6:30pm , a lot of people were there surprisingly I kind of expected more craziness but then in reality (?) it was smaller (?) i got Taro and matcha swirled bubble tea and my friend got chocolate black out Bubble comes in one big size but chocolate black out was in various size It was rainy day outside so it would have been better if there was indoor sitting area but there was just two standing tables inside and Some outdoor sittings We ate some inside but it got crowded and too noisy with group of kids so we ended up coming out to car to eat. This store is a vibe. For $9-$12 you get a large serving of ice cream (and or boba teas) which can easily be shared. They have a plethora of soft serve ice cream flavors ranging from Cookie Monster to Vietnamese Coffee. Also several boba drink flavors. You can choose to either get a float tea which is essentially boba tea paired with soft serve on the top. Or just an ice cream which you can essentially build your own by choosing your soft server flavors and toppings. For the float tea I would highly recommend the brown sugar boba with the earl gray and Vietnamese coffee swirl. For the ice cream you can't really go wrong with Cookie Monster, and stuff it with various cookie and chocolate toppings. The mason jar size is worth since you get to keep the jar, get extra ice cream and also get an aesthetically looking picture. Surreal is the place to be for boba or soft serve lovers! read more

We were so excited to finally try ice cream at the surreal creamery after seeing photos of it everywhere. I loved the idea and was quite surprised that you can take the mason jar home. If you take a jar back you can get a discount on your next order. The ice cream was a little expensive as far as ice creams go (I believe both of ours together were $23), but worth it because of the amount of ice cream that comes. Needless to say, neither my husband nor I were able to finish our orders. I also think we didn't think through and select the best flavor combinations lol, but it was still quite enjoyable. I usually love vanilla ice cream (yes, that basic), but this one was not the best. I want to go back and try their matcha ice cream. I stumbled upon this adorable creamery by accident a couple months ago. I've been here a couple times to this location & the one located in Chinatown. The staff is nice & service is quick. They also have good recommendations. I really like that they have different flavors than your average ice cream shop. My go to is usually the Earl gray Everyday in a mason jar. Also, recommend the Nom Nom cookie, and the matcha made in heaven. The desserts here are a little pricey , but well deserving of it. The portions are very large. Especially the ones in the mason jars. Although you can purchase them in a kiddy which in my opinion, is also very large Or a regular size cup or even as a topping in a boba tea! I personally get the mason jars and have a little, then grab lid to save it for later. Easily three portions honestly for me anyways. The desserts are art themselves. There was only one employee working (it's mid-winter, early February), and she was happy to accommodate our requests and was very careful when making our order. While waiting, I also noticed that they only had chairs outside. Rather than eat in 30 degree weather, we used what we could. My husband and I ate over a small standing table while my little boys used a window ledge to put their food down. We purchased two desserts: 1) Float-Tea: Thai Milk Bubble Tea & Earl Grey Ice Cream This was excellent. There was more than enough to share between me and my husband. The Earl Grey flavor was mild and not too sweet. As we got further down the cup, the ice cream melted and mixed with the Thai Tea, so we got to enjoy a sort of Thai Tea Bubble Tea Slush -- delicious and I definitely think more bubble tea places should add this to their menu! 2) Kids Ice Cream Cup: Strawberry & Chocolate Ice Cream with Oreos, Marshmallows, Reese's Puffs, Rainbow Sprinkles A massive serving! My two boys were able to pick two flavors and four toppings. It was good quality soft serve with fresh toppings. The toppings were cute and thoughtfully placed. Overall, this place is fun. I went to the Dresher location, have been wanting to try it for a while. I arrived at 3:15 and the door was locked. There was a sign in the window that said, Closed - will return at 3:00. The hours listed in the window said they were open from 3:00 to 10:00 I'm not sure if I will ever go back, hard to plan on trying it if you don't know if they will be open or closed when you arrive. Novel idea but way over priced. Not very good soft serve quality. If you take it to go you probably lose 1/3 of the ice cream and toppings that you would have otherwise gotten if you are there because they need to cap the jar (however the price is exactly the same). If you're trying Surreal Creamery for the first time, please be rest assured that the rest of the locations aren't as bad as this one! I am a huge fan of Surreal and am so happy they're beginning to crop up more and more in this area, but this one is so bad. We ordered a Taro FloatTea and a brown sugar milk tea. The brown sugar milk tea was very tasty, but I ended up having to drink it without a lid since they didn't have lids to stick your straw through. They gave me more of a Starbucks lid. This was honestly okay in my opinion, I just had to finish it before I got into the car to drive. The Taro FloatTea though? Absolutely awful. For one, it tasted nothing like taro, it tasted like vanilla with some food coloring in it. The most egregious thing though, and why I'm writing this review, was how melty the icecream was. Yeah, okay, hot day, icecream melts, right? The FloatTea was liquid within 3 minutes of being outside and in the shade. It was all over the floor and a sticky mess. We asked for a refund (which we got, yay!), we asked why it was so melty. The manager said that someone left the door open for 25 minutes and all the icecream melted. So why on God's gracious earth did you sell it to us and not tell us? We weren't provided with a top nor many napkins. We did out best to clean up the mess on their table outside, but I wouldn't come here again. It's best to go to the two in Center City or the one in Bryn Mawr, those locations have their business running much better. read more

The overall experience was under satisfying. My family and I decided to go out for a birthday and we found this place online. Due to their extravagant overflowing ice cream we assumed this would be a sit down & eat ice cream place. We got there about 6:30-7pm and there were only 2 standing tables and a table outside in the 30s degree cold. When they asked "for here or to go" I thought it was silly because there wasn't anywhere for us to eat inside unless we stood against the wall. The options were far less than I expected and they were out of quite a few options. It was around $31 for one of their mason jar ice creams and 2 kids ice creams; which is very pricy in my opinion. (A little over $14 for two kids ice cream). The ice cream did taste good, no complaints there. But when indulging in these places, you tend to go "for the experience" just as much as the dessert itself, and I just don't see how you could get an ice cream as they have advertised, to go, unless you eat half of it before getting in to your car. read more
