I enjoyed the All Very Strawberry Ice Cream Cake Jar but due to the machine for the strawberry ice cream being down, I had to replace the ice cream with a different flavor. I opted for vanilla ice cream. I ordered the mini which was sufficient for an afternoon sweet treat. The jar is layered with the strawberry cupcake on the bottom, icing, strawberry crunch, and topped with ice cream. It's a wonderful combination but the plastic spoons available made it difficult to access the cupcake with the other layers. I would order the cake jar again but will use my own spoon so I don't spend time trying to pull up the cupcake smashed at the bottom to enjoy with the other layers. They have a high top table ledge to sit and enjoy your treat inside if you choose. It sits across from the workspace where you can watch them make your treat.
I was with a group that wanted a sweet treat after dinner, and we landed on Surreal Creamery. Upon entering, I thought the layout was a bit strange. There's not much space inside but there's small counters you can place items and stand and eat/drink. I noticed some outside seating as we were leaving. I ordered a Thai iced bubble tea. It was very tasty. Our group ordered a variety of things. The ice cream portions looked huge with lots of mix-ins. I believe all of the ice cream options are soft serve. Everyone seemed to enjoy what they had. Service encounter was very brief so I don't have much to comment on that. I'd recommend giving Surreal Creamer a try if you are in the area.
I enjoyed my taro milk tea with boba from Surreal Creamery. We didn't have a long wait and staff moved through the line quickly. There isn't a lot of seating inside, and it is a little cramped, so our group took our orders to go. I would return if we are ever back in the area. I would like to try one of their ice creams as others in my group really enjoyed theirs.
We were inkling for some dessert after a unfulfilling dinner. This place had a very interesting idea of combining ice cream + boba. The size is very generous and price was reasonable, it'd probably best to share with someone unless you're trying to make a meal out of it. The place was a bit narrow + cramped.
FOOD We had their taro bubble tea & matcha/taro swirled ice cream. It's enormous and even when we came with empty stomachs, it was still difficult to split between two. The soft serve itself was the star of the show, so I definitely recommend to try it, but the milk tea itself was a little overshadowed by the powderiness of the milk tea. The tapioca pearls were also hard and tough to chew. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly. AMBIANCE There's some bar seating available inside the shop. We went at a good time since there were only two other people there but during busier hours, it can be difficult to find a spot to eat. PARKING Parking garages at a fee are available nearby. Paid street parking is also available at a limited capacity.

The bubbles seems to be sit for a long time so it's not very chewy, the ice cream itself is already way too sweet, drinking bubble tea with it I couldn't handle the sweetness. I don't recommend for those that can't have too much sweet! It is not worth almost $12 for it.

We took the drive over to the Chinatown location and found easy street parking right outside. Inside, it's a pretty sizeable operation, with ordering available pretty much as you walk in and then an area to the side to enjoy the ice cream in case you're sticking around. We chose to do two flavors - earl grey and taro with the gingerbread toppings - so good! I think the toppings really worked with these flavors and we both enjoyed the combination. They have options for cones but given the size of the portion, glad we went with a cup! The workers were really nice and patient while we asked about what we have as options and ways to mix and match. Overall - solid creamy soft serve and great service to boot! Also glad it's open later than other area ice cream shops! Looking forward to more visits!

Small spot tucked inside one of those mini dining hall style spaces in Chinatown. It feels a little hidden but in a fun way. The seating area is pretty intimate, good for a casual date or just sitting and chatting for a bit. I came specifically for the tokidoki collab and ngl it was very cute. I got one of the tokidoki cupcakes and a matcha boba tea. I was starving so I ate the cupcake immediately. It was good, but definitely on the sweeter side. If you like lighter, less sweet desserts, it might feel like a lot. For me it was right on that edge. The matcha boba tea was solid. They were training someone when I went, so the drink took a bit longer, but honestly understandable. What I did appreciate was that I forgot to ask for 30 percent sugar at first, and they actually stopped mid-make to adjust it for me. After seeing how much sugar they usually add... yeah, definitely specify your sugar level here. The boba itself was good. It's the brown sugar kind, so it has more flavor than the plain ones. My only small complaint is I wish there was more of it. I was being a little picky and counted, and I only got about 12 pearls, not even a full layer at the bottom. Overall, really cute spot with solid drinks and fun themed desserts. Just keep an eye on sweetness levels and maybe ask for extra boba if that's your thing. read more
I always had come to this spot whenever I have a taste for taro soft serve. But ever since the Surreal Creamery and Tokidoki Collab, I came more often. The event is announced thru IG. The event includes a free Tokidoki hand fan just for participation. With $45 dollars purchased of Tokidoki blind boxes and the Surreal Creamery Collab, you will receive a cute tote bag. Also each SC&Tokidoki treat comes with a little charm where the event coordinator will make it into cute keychains. Reason for the three star, this location is so darn UNPREPARED! I came to Chinatown SC twice for the two events they held so far, both of the times, employees have ZERO clue of what's going on smdh. To make matters worst, most of the time, the advertised collab items were unavailable. And this spot is tiny, too tiny for events. The mascots are too cute, I saw Donutella and Mozzarella so far! read more
This place is always a treat! My husband and I have only tried this place twice and got the same item... but we love how they layer an insane amount of ice cream on top of a cupcake! Frozen yogurt quality is so good here! Can't wait to go back and try other flavors! read more

Bed place in the city for fancy Ice cream so good! You can even get your ice cream in a mason jar they make it so pretty! My favorite is the mint chocolate chip! Service is pretty fast and they are always busy! read more

Picked the matcha and taro swirl that seemed to be pretty popular from reviews. The soft serve texture is very nice but the matcha flavor was too mild. The toppings also were a bit on the stale side, possibly from sitting awhile read more

AMAZING! Someone had the brilliant idea to combine two of the best desserts in the world--bubble tea and ice cream! I got the brown sugar bubble tea with earl grey ice cream on top, and it was HEAVEN in a cup. I split it with a friend because it's so dang large. Unfortunately, the floteas only come in one size, which is a LOT. The other thing on the menu that I really wanted to try is the cake in a jar. This place is really just so unique and instagrammable. There is very little bar seating, so it's best to swing by on a nice night to do take out. read more

I had previously gone to the Surreal Creamery in Bryn Mawr. I had an ok experience when I went but wanted to give them another try. This Chinatown location made it a lot more convenient to get to. I made my own cup and chose the Taro & Matcha Swirl. I also added Biscoff Cookies and Teddy Grahams as the toppings, which they swirl into the ice cream and garnish on top as well. They give you A LOT of ice cream so try to share with someone if you can. I chose to get the ice cream because that was one of the redeeming parts of the Flotea when I ordered from the location in Bryn Mawr. Unfortunately, the ice cream just wasn't it. You could not taste any taro or matcha flavor and instead it just tasted like vanilla soft serve. The toppings made it unique and tastier but I ended up throwing away most of it because I didn't want mediocre vanilla soft serve. Would I go back? : Unfortunately not. Surprisingly, my second time trying Surreal Creamery was worse than the first time I tried it. At least the staff were very friendly. read more
What a gem! Surreal has a huge array of toppings, soft serve choices, curated choices, etc. The staff works so hard to crank orders out. One thing I will say is the menu is overwhelming and nearly impossible to read. They have signs *everywhere* which makes for a very confusing experience. Surreal is a small shop. You walk right down the stairs and up to the counter. When it's busy, it's hard to step to the side without getting in the way of people waiting for their orders. When I went, it was loud, crowded, and hard to read the signs (both LED and paper) that were posted on different walls in different areas. They could definitely improve signage, but execution of dessert is 10/10! read more
Got the Chocolate blackout mason jar and oh my gosh is it delicious!! The chocolate flavor of the soft serve is amazing - not too sweet, not too bitter and the choco puffs go so well with it. You can take the mason jar home, so that's a plus. The Vietnamese coffee soft serve was a tad bitter but it paired well with the Thai tea. Service was quick, only issue today was they didn't have the air conditioning working but that happens. I am already a regular at two dessert places in chinatown and this will soon be on that list. Adorable presentation that made me want to taste test everything on the menu. Portions are huge and would be good to share with one other person! I ordered the matcha ice cream with taro bubble tea. My friends ordered the same thing and we all agreed the matcha ice cream was good but the taro was very milky and no one enjoyed the bubble tea. My other friend ordered the vanilla earl grey ice cream and thought it was delicious. Fast service and beautiful presentation! read more
I'm very excited when I heard Surreal is open at Chinatown. I've been waiting for a long time to try their goodie. I always want to try the Vietnam coffee ice cream, heard it from friends that it was really good. They have so many different types of ice creams, drinks and toppings. People come here for their popular signature mason jars, they're so creative and very cute, but I got the cup instead. I ordered the Thai milk bubble tea with Vietnamese iced coffee ice cream. The Vietnamese coffee ice cream was so smooth and yummy, which I can tasted the flavor of the coffee. When you mixed them up with the Thai milk tea together, it tasted even better. It was a good balance. I feel so satisfied afterward. Anyway the cup that I got was huge. It can easily share between 3-4 people lol. It's fairly reasonable for the price. I will definitely coming back to try more of their stuff. read more

Huge portions! My husband got the Floatea which has ice cream and bubble tea. The earl gray ice cream was subtle and really smooth. I got the Brown Sugar classic milk tea which equates to Kung Fu Tea's Milk Tea, it was exactly how I like it. I asked for 25% sugar. The prices are way too high. If a family of five were to come in, they'd have to easily drop $55-$70. I don't think it's worth the prices, definitely one of those "looks good for Instagram" spots. We spent $20 on two things and my item was the cheapest on the menu. read more

I'm excited to try Surreal Creamery. I follow them on Instagram and everything looks enticing. I created my own jar: Vietnamese coffees with biscoff, chocolate straw, waffle cookie aka stroopwaffle, and lady finger. I didn't have to wait too long to get my order. It looked very photogenic. The jar comes with the lid so you can take the rest home. They mixed the ice cream with the crushed toppings that I picked in the jar. The ice cream itself didn't have strong coffee flavor. They also have bubble tea topped with ice cream. This place is occupying the former ice cream roll ups adjacent to halal guys . read more

This place was amazing!! Both of our desserts were very tasty. They were out of small mason jars, so we had to have a small one in a plastic cup. I think the Cookie Monster one was our favorite. Be aware this place is small and narrow and easily becomes crowded. But the ice cream was worth it. read more
Aesthetically pleasing but also good. I did my own mason jar with taro and matcha swirl with biscoff, caramel cookie and waffle cookie. They put the full cookies on top and crushed up some in between the ice cream layers. The whole combination was like eating cereal milk ice cream -- which I love. The ice cream favor was good but personally, I would like it to be stronger. Both taro and matcha was on the milder side. It's nice that the jar came with a lid because it was a lot of ice cream and I'm not complaining. For the price of the jar option, I thought it was worth it. It came with a jar and lid, 4 topping and way more than enough ice cream (2 days worth for me). Service was quick and everyone was friendly. It's not that easy to find flavored soft serve ice cream spot so I was very pleased that this opened up. read more
My first thought when my mason jar ice cream came out was that it was MASSIVE...which is definitely a good thing when ordering dessert. The desserts are definitely portioned for sharing, and there are a few different options. The most popular option seems to be the floatea, which is a combination of ice cream and boba tea, which is what our friends ordered. Our ice cream flavor was taro + pumpkin, which was delicious, though I may go for straight taro next time. The service was quick and efficient. There is a small seating area at the side of the store to enjoy the desserts, especially useful now that the weather's getting colder. Can't wait to return and try other flavors! read more

Not much to look at from the outside, but once you step inside, you'll be even more less impressed with the rather short menu, but don't let that fool you. Order anything from that menu and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the creamy goodness which is crafted by the loving hands from the staff that work there. A SOLID FIVE out of FIVE Stars for this place. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had and that is saying a lot. If you are nearby, please stop by and look for their small sign out front. You will not be disappointed. read more
