I went to see Dr. Bakus as a walk in the next day and was diagnosed and treated within hours despite it being a holiday weekend. She has stayed on top of the situation. I appreciate the whole spectrum of medicine practiced from modern, to Eastern and in between. Dr. Bakus is thorough, caring and empathetic. Her staff is equally wonderful. The person providing the MRI said he was at the end of his 7 hour shift. He was not dressed neatly in "uniform" of any kind, and smelled of BO. I first thought he was a maintenance person. He did not provide assistance in terms of how to negotiate the MRI bed, what to hold on to, etc. Very casual and not engaged in the process. Very unusual from positive experienced I have had with SMH downtown.

I must…read moreadmit I'm used to state of the art surgery centers ( retired RN) and found the aesthetics quite outdated. Putting that aside the care I received was outstanding!Nurse Kelly my prep op nurse was so kind, explained everything , made me comfortable, I felt a real connection to her! Top notch professional!! The CRNA I believe his name was Edwardo was so kind and gentle, answered questions put in my IV, reassured me he would do his best to keep my post op pain under control and he did! I then met the Anesthesiologist Dr. Lawson, Wow what a gifted man. Answered all my annoying questions so thoroughly including telling me the history of the drug used to control bleeding! So kind and caring! Silvi my postop nurse was amazing too!! Then Dr. Silverstein, what can I say? He is a gifted talented surgeon with a hint of sass who explained to me step by step what he did! I had my last hip replacement on the left side by one of the surgeons who was on the team that invented the anterior approach in Michigan at a fancy state of the art surgery center. Although I was happy with the care there it didn't match the care I got at Premier! So happy I got the surgery here in Sarasota! I hope this snowbirds recovery goes well. I went for my first appointment, to get started, and the doctor was not empathetic, and refused to prescribe anything for me. They could not review my chart because their internet was down. I was treated like an addict. The staff were all lovely, but I am very disappointed with the doctor. He ordered an MRI, which I'm waiting to have scheduled. I've never had withdrawals, but I'm terrified. He walked out whole I was talking to him. I am hoping this gets addressed quickly. I have used them for myself and my husband for therapy. The therapists are dedicated and excellent at their jobs but since the takeover things are going downhill. The new company has forced new systems that are less expensive and less effective. It is affecting patient care making it difficult, discouraging and inconsistent. I am considering changing companies but I don't know if I can find any better. This week I will be asking my doctor for advice as to how to proceed.

My grandmother had heart issues and had a previous stroke. The nurse we were assigned was such a wonderful person. At one point she even saved my grandmothers life. The therapist were amazing. Everyone was always on time, friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

I feel compelled to share my family's distressing experience with Brookdale Phillippi Creek, where…read moremy sister was briefly placed after her move from Utah in May 2024. Unfortunately, this transition was marred by significant issues that compelled my nieces to seek alternative care for their mother within just a few days of her arrival.       Despite my niece's meticulous planning, and dedication over the past three years in managing their Mother's care, the initial experience at Brookdale Phillippi Creek was disheartening. The facility failed to meet the expectations set by its reputation, leading my nieces to move their mother back to her previous home, where she was welcomed with open arms. This decision was not made lightly, as they had worked diligently to ensure a smooth transition for their Mother to Brookdale Phillippi Creek.    The financial aspect of this ordeal has been equally troubling. The family paid an exorbitant $5,621.50 for a stay that lasted a few days, and I (their Aunt) have struggled for three months to retrieve the funds owed to them. As of now, Brookdale has only offered to refund $1,125.74, while the significant $2,500 community fee remains unreturned. It is bewildering that a billion-dollar company cannot facilitate a straightforward reimbursement process, particularly when the circumstances leading to my sister's departure was a direct result of the facility's shortcomings.   Despite numerous attempts to resolve this matter--42 emails and countless calls and texts to the executive director--the response has been frustrating. A promise of a follow-up call this past Friday from the Business Office Manager has gone unfulfilled, leaving me once again feeling ignored and disheartened.   Brookdale Phillippi Creek must take responsibility for its service failures and address the financial discrepancies promptly. My family is eager to resolve this matter by getting the credit resolved, and receiving a clear report showing a zero balance, free of any late fees.   In conclusion, my family will not consider returning to any Brookdale facility in the future. It is my hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for others considering their services. Accountability and communication are crucial in elder care, and Brookdale Phillippi Creek has unfortunately fallen short on both fronts.     One side note: I personally want to acknowledge the efforts of Leslie A. who has been incredibly helpful throughout this process. I know that her hands are tied, but if she was able to help close things out she would have.  Thank you, Leslie!
