Did I mention the old laundry detergent container holding open the entryway door? If this is how they care about their first impression, then I can't imagine how little they care about the animals. The employee looked up my dog's record and was most concerned with her being spayed... which tells me they don't watch the animals carefully and there has been a pregnancy in the past. Ah!!!! Seeing this place was a nice surprise. I remember when Petco first closed and I was so…read moredisappointed. Then a few months later, I saw that the building had been split in two, and Dollar Tree took over one side. I didn't expect a pet shop to take over the other half later on, given the much smaller size... but here we are! On my way back from some nearby business, I decided to drop in before they closed. The place is bright like most pet stores are, and it is split into 4 aisles -- mainly for dogs and cats. But, they have aquarium supplies and other miscellaneous things. I saw a small section of fish and an adorable sleeping ferret in the back! They didn't have the brand of cat food that I currently get, but what they do have is neatly organized and I could see myself becoming a regular for fish-related things or backups. It could be because they're new, but their aquarium section is so CLEAN! I have no concerns about the health of those fish. I also had a great time chatting with the staff, asking questions, talking about my experiences, listening to his answers... it was all very pleasant. During a visit they told me our cat would need a dental cleaning and I priced that out online - so…read moreinstead of stressing about that I signed up for the wellness plan for cats. It is expensive but I did the math and the cost of the wellness plan for one year for the cat was about the same as the cost would be for the dental cleaning. He had the dental cleaning in January of this year. He came through just fine. Fast forward to this week - I suspected that the cat had a UTI, so I called and got a same day appointment for him. Because of COVID they are taking your pet back and telling you to either go shop or go sit in your car. Fine. So I shop for about 30 minutes and then go sit in my car. The vet calls she tells him that they think it is a UTI and we will go ahead and treat that. Fine with me... When I get the paper work it says they think he needs another dental cleaning! WHAT?! I just did that and dental cleanings for cats are pretty stressful for the cat because they have to be put under for it. There is no way a cat's recently cleaned teeth got that bad in 3 months. While I like Banfield for the convenience and I generally like Dr. Anthony I am seriously annoyed about the dental comment. Either (a) they did a bad job the first time (b) they didn't update their system to show it was done already or (c) they are trying to make me put my cat through unnecessary procedures for profits.... None of these is acceptable to me. (Edit 2: They reached back to me and explained that the system note is overly broad - that while our cat has tartar build up, he doesn't need a cleaning at this point. I appreciate the call back and the information.) Edit: Their customer service commented on this post to have me contact them. I did as they requested weeks later, I still haven't heard back from them. It was lovely gesture to seem caring but they didn't actually reply.

Was looking for a new vet so I tried Banfield at PetSmart because they had a free wellness checkup…read morefor new customers. My 7 year old cat was also due for a rabies shot. I had an appointment for 10:30 am, arrived at 10:20 am and didn't see the vet for almost an hour. The "checkup" was so cursory, all they did was weigh my cat and take his temp. And this was not performed in the exam room, but the tech took the cat out of the room and I have no idea where they went. No exam of his skin, ears, eyes, nose, etc. The vet tried to upsell me on everything the store carries. Needless to say I will not go back.

Patricia Dee Pet Grooming did a great job with my domestic longhair cat. His fur recently got…read morebadly matted, and we desperately needed help. With the pandemic, however, almost no one was offering cat grooming. Pat and Tom were able to get us in right away. Due to the amount of matting he had, they had to clip most of his fur. That part didn't surprise us. What did surprise us was how good they made him look. Our cat looks years younger, and is even acting much happier. I expect we'll be taking him back periodically from now on. Pat and Tom were friendly people, and were great with our boy. Tom gave us some good advice for helping avoid matting in the future. They do run the business out of the basement of their house. It's well equipped and has it's own entrance, but don't expect it to look like PetSmart. It's a genuine mom and pop small business, and one I would definitely recommend.

The only reason e stopped service was because we relocated to New York City. I was a new dog owner, and initially wasn't giving my chi a potty break midday. With DC traffic this became increasingly stressful because I couldn't predict when I'd be home and didn't want her holding her bladder all day! After talking to a lot of walkers, I met Jennifer and the rest is history. Jennifer came over, met P, and talked to me generally about dog ownership & her services. Jennifer is super knowledgeable and a compassionate person for people and animals - this was so helpful because it put me at ease with giving someone access to my house & my new puppy!! Jennifer assigned us Jimmy as a walker - and that was P's BFF from that day forward. Jimmy is such a good human, would txt me updates, if needed, and treated Princess ...like a literal Princess! He was always on time, always communicative, and if the rate case he couldn't cover a walk, Jennifer took her out! They even convinced my little chi to potty in the rain & snow (something I struggle with to this day). Eventually some route changes kicked in and Isa was our walker. Isa was so sweet as well, and helped me fit P in a proper harness (which is tough for the little ones) in addition to being prompt & communicative! Additionally Jennifer sends consistent updates to clients through the portal, it's flexible with scheduling, and send a super cute newsletter with helpful information - esp for first time dog owners. Overall, Run and Play is the best pet care service in southern Maryland area! We were so sad to leave such good people and I highly believe trusting Jennifer with your fur babies is a great choice. 10/10 would recommend!

The owner, Shannon, was very responsive at first. When I told her where I lived, she started backtracking and listing reasons why her employees wouldn't be able to reach my apartment. She then told me she couldn't even refer another sitting service. I've had cat sitters before. Interacting with Shannon was the strangest, most frustrating conversation I've ever had. She clearly did not want to take me or my cats on as a client for reasons unbeknownst to me. I was able to find a cat sitter through another service, thankfully. I cannot recommend C-Pup.

The gentleman on the phone was so helpful and informative and made it easy. When it came time to drop my dog off the staff were so friendly and kind, and they were extremely attentive and took detailed notes of all the items I brought with my dog and any of her quirks (e.g., severe allergies, doesn't play well with others, etc.). The space was so clean and large. I felt very reassured dropping her off as I went on vacation. When I came back to get her, the staff was helpful and, again, extremely kind and talked about her time there with details that were definitely unique to my dog. She was happy, healthy, clean, and well groomed. All of her toys and leash items were accounted for and they even ran a toy out to my car that they had forgotten in her kennel. Bottom line: 5/5 do recommend!
