We couldn't be happier with the fine people at Liberty Falls. We adopted Roscoe from a rescue a litttle over ayear ago. We first took him to a vet in Arlington that my family had used for decades. It turned out that Roscoe was terrified of veterinarians. A neighbor suggested that they use Liberty Falls. They have an all-female staff and since Roscoe seems to get along with woman than men we gave them a try. Dr. Geldon is just amazing. Not only is she an incredible vet, she is also so kind and so willing to listen and give us advice as we navigate the worled that is a new shelter dog. Our first visit there she examined Roscoe and then we got him off the table. We had Roscoe on one side of the room and she sat down on the floor on the other side of the room and answered all of our questions as she slowly tossed treats across the room to Roscoe. She has helped us with extensive dental work that was needed and always returns our calls if we leave questions during the day with her staff. The staff also deserves a round of applause as well. We recently adopted a new puppy from a pet rescue. We looked around for a veterinary clinic near to our home and Liberty Falls was highly recommended by our friends and neighbors. We were able to get an appointment soon which was good. The staff was also efficient in sending over new client forms, etc. They are located very conveniently on Falls Road and have plenty of parking available. For the appointment, we took our pet to the clinic and were met by a tech at the entrance. She took preliminary information for us and took the pet inside - not human visitors allowed at the moment. The doctor called us a few minutes later and gave us a detailed account of the visit. She also made recommendations for future care and vaccination schedules. She patiently answered all my questions - and I had a few! Our pet looked happy after his visit and we had a good experience sending him there. Definitely a good veterinary practice to consider if this location works for you. read more

Not very pleased with this vet. They were wrong about my dogs eye and brought up putting him down on the first visit. A visit to an eye specialist who confirmed his eye was fully healed... I'm sure they must be better to their regular patients but this was our first visit and it will be our last. read more

Our dog Bisous had a wonderful experience with Dr. Laurie Fromberg. Bisous had a splenectomy to remove a tumor and the surgery and postoperative care went extremely well. Dr. Fromberg and her staff clearly care deeply about our dog just as much as we do and now our little old lady Bisous gets to come home to us so we can enjoy her for the next several years . Dr. Linda Banish misdiagnosed our cat Tikki with multiple problems she did not have, e.g., a serious heart problem and "most probably" cancer. Dr. Banish confidently claimed Tikki would likely die within 6-12 months if not treated. We spent a boat load of money at Liberty Falls as well as at another (emergency) vet hospital for diagnostics. As it turned out, changing Tikki's diet to a low sodium "y/d thyroid care" cat food did the trick almost immediately. Now, almost three (3) years later, Tikki is as healthy and happy as ever. Our dog Camden has figured out a way to stay in trouble (open the cabinet and find a chocolate bar; climb the fence and rip off a dewclaw) but the team at Liberty Falls has been fantastic in taking care of her. she tried to overcharge me. my dog had eye removed. she stayed overnight as the vet said it be best.when my son picked her up vet said she had thrown up, so she gave me 15 doses of diarrhea meds which i ask why. she agreed it was a little too much and agreed to let me return it. the same ch thing happened with pills on first visit when she told is the eye had to come out. i called her about these horse size pills which my little shihtzus could not take. she agreed to take these back. i had to bring all these problems up,which were not necessary. i believe i was being cheated as my son didn't know many better. i am 84 years old and handicapped is the reason i couldn't take my self. she have me a lot of meds , of no use at cost of almost $350 plus operation of another $1200 for operation. the vet i believed tryed to over charge me. oh yes gave me meds and forgot to give me syringes to be able to give her the meds. they sent a employee over after they closed with them. she made me wait past the time meds was supposed to be taken to have employee bring me these necessary items. i don't thing she had my pet in her mine as she did money. mary dillard read more

We were pleased with the previous vet and also pleased with the vet that took over his practice Dr. Geldon. That is for a short time at least. She started out as a sweet vet and then turned into a nasty person. Her staff was so unprofessional and I was told by two staffers that left the practice that it was a cut throat environment. I had to walk on eggshells when talking to her staff as they never wanted to be bothered with questions. Dr. Geldon also almost killed my puppy by prescribing a double dose of a certain medication I was unfamiliar with and I did give one dose. If I hadn't checked it could have done some severe damage. Now for us to switch to another vet a year before my 14 year old passed you know it was pretty bad. I would never recommend this practice to anybody that owns any kind of animal. Toxic! read more

We switched to Liberty Falls a few years ago after our previous vet retired. We switched well before COVID so I had the chance to be with my pets during multiple visits. I am extremely happy with the care my dog and cats receive at Liberty Falls. We have 1 dog and 3 cats so it's important to us to have a vet in whom we feel very confident. One of my cats needed bloodwork; the tech was exceptionally skillful at drawing blood. My pets are more relaxed at Liberty Falls then I've very seen them at the vet. read more

An inexpensive AND knowledgeable Veterinarian in Potomac? Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus! The downsides are, it's a little tricky to find and you have a 1 in 5 chance of not getting in for an emergency appointment. I'll admit I was skeptical in the extreme. I have guinea pigs and having them seen by a vet qualified in exotics care is a financial near death experience (easily $300+). However, I had been referred by a friend who sang his and his staffs' praises and wooed me there with a song of low prices and quality care. After calling to make an emergency appointment for one of my guinea pig and hearing the dulcet tones "It's $40 for an exam" over the receiver, I began to believe. Trying to find the office was a bit of a challenge since it's in a residential neighborhood and on Dr. Weitzman's property, but in a separate building from his home. Eventually I did figure this out and though there isn't a lot of parking directly in front of this office, I managed to find a place. Dr. Chaplin is the vet in his practice who sees exotics and she's the vet who I first met. She thoroughly examined my pet's eye, explained the causes of the injury and how to treat it, gave us some ophthalmic antibiotic ointment and a treatment plan. She even demonstrated how to apply the ointment and fully described the rest of the treatments in detail. I was relieved and impressed. As I went to pay my bill, which was under $60 for the medications and the exam, I was a believer! I have since been back several times with other guinea pigs and my cat. I have seen Dr's Weitzman and Chaplin and I continue to be amazed at the quality and affordability of the care my pets receive here. The only issue I've had is twice out of the 10 times I've visited, I couldn't get in for an emergency appointment because both doctors were unavailable. I did have my pets seen elsewhere for those visits, but despite this, I will continue to give them my business because my pets receive great care and my wallet gets a rest. read more

Very Unprofessional!! We brought our puppy here for a 1st exam with Dr. Geldon and it was a nightmare! Demonstrated Unprofessional behaviors: -Uncleanliness (vet assistant/tech was difficult about wiping down the exam table with ethanol when asked-she did it with attitude and great reluctance) -Dr. Geldon did not wash her hands before touching our puppy. -Dr. Geldon sat on the exam table when talking with us, then put the our puppy on the table without cleaning it off. -Our puppy's stool sample was taken and never put in another bag and labeled before testing, staff had to ask us if it was our puppy's sample!! Totally unacceptable and sloppy! -We were told that the office works on no news is good news for test results which is inadequate. I called the next day, late afternoon, to confirm nothing was wrong with the stool sample to find out our pup had giardia and we were not called because Dr. Geldon was out (though who knows if it was our puppy's stool tested with their sloppy sample labeling). -After deflecting pressure to medicate our puppy right away with the latest and greatest drug for something not serious enough for them to bother calling us for we were told that our puppy needed the medication per 'Dr.'s orders'. We said we would discuss it after researching the med when Dr. Geldon returned and were never contacted again-so much for caring about a patient! - Told us to use force on our puppy to get it to stop teething on us and then used force on our puppy!! - Decided to snuggle and bring other assistant to cuddle and fuss over our puppy without permission. -Tried to give our puppy random treats without permission. Would a family practice doctor treat someone's toddler this way? NO Would you randomly touch someone's toddler? NO Use force on someone's toddler? NO Offer random candy to someone's toddler? NO Then don't touch the puppy outside of professional work either! Puppies are NOT communal property! All in all we experience one unprofessional action after the next and will never be returning. More concerned with forcing their opinions than your pet's well being. read more

We got a new puppy in late summer of 2014 and we were devastated when we found out that our vet of 18 years planned to retire in 2015. Our puppy got an ear infection a few months ago so I took him to a place near our house. They took care of him, but the front office staff left me flat and the vet gave him a duplicate vaccine. I asked around and several people recommended Liberty Falls Veterinary Clinic. Before I could make a routine appointment to see Dr. Geldon, my dog got an infection from a laceration on his leg. I called Dr. Geldon's office on a Saturday morning at 9am and was seen at 10am. I could not believe that they made time for me without even knowing us and on a busy Saturday to boot! The front office staff/tech was extremely friendly and competent. Dr. Geldon was not only wonderful with Lucky, but she was great with my young daughter who is an aspiring veterinarian. Dr. Geldon got down on the floor to examine Lucky and let my daughter assist her in the examination. Dr. Geldon and her staff helped me in the following week to assess his health and healing process via phone. Now that he is better I plan to return to this practice for all of our veterinary care. I had the unfortunate experience of having to put my dog down after 14.5 years in a rather sudden scenario. Dr Gelb and Dr. Banish were both very attentive and kind- the assistant even offered to drive me home after, as I was alone and very emotional. Of course it was an awful experience, but the staff made it as painless as could be. I have a 10 week old English bulldog named Bronx. My sons teacher recommended we use him as Bronx's vet because he too own 2 English bulldogs and he has used him for years.. We took our two French Bulldogs here for the first time over a few months ago, and we were truly satisfied with the service we received from Dr. Weitzman and his staff. After moving into the area, we were worried about finding a vet we were confident in taking care of our boys. Atlas Vet in DC did such a great job the last four years, and Liberty Falls matched the great service we received and more. We've been using Dr. Weitzman since we moved to the area nearly 10 years ago. We have a small-breed dog. Overall we've had a very positive experience with both Dr. Weitzman and his staff. Dr. Weitzman consistently comes across as a caring, gentle and confident vet. In addition to quality general wellness care, we'd had a very usual dermatological events occur with our pet and Dr. Weitzman went the extra mile to research the case and run lab test to determine the root-cause. His staff is always helpful, especially in emergencies where they do their best to fit you in. Vets aren't cheap anywhere you go, but we have found Dr. Weitzman's prices to be on the 'reasonable side', especially given the Potomac location. His offices and set up (connected to his residence) are a little dated, and records management is still manual. But if you look past that, and focus on the care and treatment provided, we don't think you'll find better, personalized care anywhere else. read more

Dr. Weitzman has been the "family" veterinarian for our dogs for around 40 years. I would never let another doctor look at my dogs, and when I have to take my dogs to the Animal Hospital, I always bring them to see Dr. Weitzman the next day. I don't trust another doctor's diagnoses. Dr. Weitzman has something that is lacking in other Veterinarians. He has common sense and respect for the dignity of the animal. I've had other Doctors suggest all sorts of very expensive tests and procedures, etc. to determine the problem, and Dr. Weitzman carefully examines my dog and says that they are unnecessary and will put the dog through unwarranted pain and suffering. He is far more reasonable that any of his local competitors, and I would never let any of them touch my dog. read more

We spent time searching for a new vet for our 16 year old mini poodle after a bad experience at our previous vet's office. I didn't think the office itself was all that great, but Dr. Geldon more than made up for that. She has a "can do" attitude mixed in with a genuine love for pets. That came across immediately. Anyway our mini is deaf and mostly blind and has become a biter in this scary world. As a result, we have had a problem with the simplest tasks... giving pills, cleaning ears, grooming, etc. Dr. Geldon addressed all and our mini left with clean ears, hair out of her eyes, fresh anals (hey, it's a part of life), and new pills... one that she will actually chew because it is beef flavored. I've been going to Dr. Weitzman for about 15 years now and he's excellent. I drive out to Potomac from Chevy Chase to see him. I rescue older dogs so I need a vet quite often. When one of my dogs had a bad reaction to some medication and had to have IV fluid injected subcutaneously, he met me at his office on Saturday and Sunday to do the procedure and saved my dogs life. And the staff is equally as wonderful. And the waiting room and offices where the pets are seen have always been clean. I would highly recommend him and his prices are, I think, quite reasonable. read more

I would give this place 100 stars if I could. I have followed Dr. Geldon from her old practice in Olney to Liberty Falls - even when I moved. Regardless of whether we lived in Maryland, DC, or Virginia, Dr. Geldon is always worth the drive. She always takes such great care of our pup and is extremely thorough in her work. She has always been available for questions, both before and after visits, and has been extremely accommodating with fitting us in for unplanned visits. Dr. Weitzman is an incredible vet, however, you must get all your surgery quotes IN WRITING!! Bills consistently return 2-3x higher than quoted, and if you don't have the original quote, upon which no doubt you made your decision, you are completely out of luck- and the billing department is not nice, so.... a big and rather tragic drawback to an otherwise stellar vet. My four babies don't get stressed returning like they do at others. We drive 20-30 minutes to go to this vet while passing many on our way because they are honest, care, and treat you like family. Dr. Geldon has been simply amazing from diagnostics, research, through treatment she left absolutely no stone unturned. He is alive because of her diligence.
