My hair just keeps getting BETTER and BETTER each and every time I go back to Susan Harman for another haircut! I recently went back to Susan in January for a cut and a partial highlight. I didn't think it would be possible - but I liked this haircut even more than the last one she gave me (which I absolutely ADORED!). She just did a trim, and didn't take too much off in terms of overall length, but she added in a little bit more longer layers this time - which I love. When getting ready for work in the morning, I have the option of blow drying out my hair to make it sleek and styled OR just scrunching it up from the bottom and letting it air dry - and it dries on my way to work just perfectly. And, the highlight color she put in is just enough - it's noticeable but not in your face obvious that I got my hair highlighted, and looks totally natural while at the same time, lightening everything up. Susan was the first stylist I had in San Francisco that I felt actually understood how to make me look *good*... and by that I mean listen to what I want, and understand how to translate "I barely know what I'm talking about" into "amazing hair"... she was also the first stylist I EVER had in whose chair I could flop down and say "I dunno'... just fix it" and she would. I was perpetually thrilled with the work she did and shook my fists at the heavens when she moved down to SoCal. Now that she's in Bend, I recommend everyone go to her and Bend will quickly become the Milan of hair! Okay, seriously, though. She's not only amazing at the cool stuff ladies get to do with their hair, but she's pretty awesome at the super nitpicky men's haircuts as well. She is super quick to learn where booby traps are (i have this one spot that will shoot straight up if you cut it just a centimeter shorter than I tend to want it) and will remember them and work with them. Men, if you want an amazing haircut, go to Susan. Susan was wonderful to work with. It was clear that she was passionate about creating a naturally beautiful hairstyle that met my lifestyle. I am 38 years old with two children, one an infant. My hair is naturally curly and about 50% gray and when I walked it it most closely resembled an old potato.She listened carefully, did a great job with color and cut. As a bonus she was interesting to talk to. There were a lot of hairstylists working but they managed to keep a quiet and pleasant environment. I've been going to Susan for years now, and have had nothing but great experiences! She's aways been professional, timely and easy to talk to. Her ability to make me comfortable and figure out exactly what it is that I want in a cut (even when I'm doing a bad job of explaining it) is a breath of fresh air. From "I'd like exactly this" to "give me something different" she's always nailed it with a smile. Not only do the cuts look great the day of - they grow out very gracefully as well, which is the sign of a great cut as far as I'm concerned! I saw Susan for my long and wavy hair for years in SF and LA. She is wonderful at cut and color, I really miss how my hair looked when she was my stylist! We tried a couple of different looks, cuts, colors and lengths over the years. I was lucky that we lived in the same two cities! If I could give more stars I would! Susan is the best hairdresser I've ever had and that's no exaggeration. I spent years going from fancy salon to fancy salon and getting my hair butchered before I found her. My hair is fine but I have a ton of it and apparently that's not the easiest type of hair to cut, but Susan managed to give me the perfect cut every single time. Her attention to detail far surpasses any stylist I've ever been to. And, she rocks at color and highlights, too! I saw Susan when we lived in San Francisco and she did a fantastic job cutting my not-so-typical half-asian textured hair. I have a LOT of hair that is not necessarily thick and course but fine and somewhat wavy PLUS I have a round face. I've always had a hard time finding someone who can make it look good but Susan was able to cut and style it in a way with layers that helped shape my hair and make it feel lighter while complimenting my face shape. Now that we both live in Oregon, I may need to visit her for a style and cut when we visit Bend! read more

Sue is an amazing Hair Stylist!!! I have loved every haircut and color she has ever done! She cuts/styles/colors your hair either traditional/trendy/or just like a pic....while also keeping in mind your goals for the future (if you want to l grow out your hair, plans to keep it short, how it will look as it grows out, etc). It is obvious that she takes her time and does it right! She did my hair for my wedding and it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. She also does my husbands hair.
