I'm pretty easy going and flexible with my haircuts, but this one was not very good. I asked for highlights, but asked them to not be too intense so they didn't look bad when they grew out. She showed me a before and after photo and I couldn't tell the difference in color- definitely went too subtle. It's possible that was a miscommunication, but what wasn't was when I got home I realized she cut my hair crooked. One side was about an inch longer than the other- I was wondering why she never checkEd for evenness as stylists usually do- I figured she just knew her stuff. since the front was so crooked I checked the back of my hair, and I had a few chunks in the back that were about an inch longer than the other bits. It was very weird, idk how it got cut so crooked! She did mention that she usually cuts curly hair, and I have straight, fine hair. And honestly, she did a nice job on my friend's hair, which Is coarser and thicker. I would say if you have hair like mine this is not a good option, but thick/coarse/curly hair and I'm sure she'd do a good job. read more

Went to Meleni thanks to the DevaCurl website, which lists all certified stylists. I've gotten DevaCurl haircuts for the past six or so years and have had stylists in NY, Boston, Bend cut my hair. Meleni is great! Although I don't get the impression there are a lot of curly girls in Bend, she seems to have a lot of experience. She listened to what I asked for, cut conservatively, then when I asked for shorter, she went for it and it looks awesome. Looking forward to going again. read more

I love Meleni!!!!! Can't say enough about how awesome this lady is. I've been going to her for the last 4 years and she is Amaztastic! I'd never let anyone else touch my hair, and I'd follow her anywhere. She's the only stylist I've ever trusted enough to say, "Something funky and fun. I trust you. Just do whatever and make my head look cool.". If you're looking for color - she's an all star! After a new look? She's your go to gal. I go back and forth between blunt A line bobs and scrappy layered cuts. It's always perfection. I get complements on my hair daily - even after it starts to grow out. She's affordable too! I get a shampoo, cut and style, leave a tip, and still have enough left over to pick up some scrumptious smelling products to take home. On top of owning her own salon, she works as a trainer for Paul Mitchell. (This lady knows her stuff!) She is sometimes on the road doing hair shows, (or snowboarding like a bad-ass) but can usually fit me in for a cut within a few days.
