We ordered it online and when we brought it to be altered, it simply did not fit well enough to work. She was miserable and would not consider anything else. We brought the dress to Raeanne and she was able to call a designer and have the exact same dress made for my daughter - two weeks before the batmitzvah. When it came in, it was too sheer. I just saw this business on the news, asking for people to help save this failing small business during Covid times. The suggestion was that it was Covid that was to blame for this. I was compelled to leave a review. This business has been "failing" for some time. And it is the sole responsibility of the owner. Who is a snobbish & arrogant/foul woman. I bought a dress here a couple of years ago, while in town for my sisters wedding. To say the customer service was terrible would be saying that there was actually customer service. The owner had a terrible attitude when I came in. Behaving as if I was bothering her in some way, talking to & treating me like she was better than me when I asked questions about the designer. I would have gone elsewhere, but I needed the dress in 3.5 weeks or less. And would need it altered. I opted to have the dress altered elsewhere after reading the horrific reviews online about the quality of work of the seamstress . I was going to leave a bad review then, but when I got online and saw all of the other terrible reviews I decided not to bother. All you have to do is look at her response to the negative reviews left. Disregarding the experiences of her high end customers /downplaying her ineffective and terrible customer service/store environment. So today when I saw the request on OAN News station asking for people to "support this Covid affected business" I could not keep quiet. because this company has been receiving bad reviews and I would assume struggling for at least a couple of years. (Though I would assume longer from the experience that I had.) So please.. DO NOT give your money to these people. If you want to help a small business in need, There are many valuable companies Who actually contribute some thing important to the community. And who are actually struggling now ONLY due to the Covid situation. And not the fact that they simply have zero people skills /consideration for others feelings/experience. This company WILL fail. On a crazy hunt for my mom's dress for an upcoming wedding. We literally had squads of people searching out dresses for nearly 3 months. I happen upon this place after hearing some local students discuss prom. Checked the reviews and knew it was worth a drop in. There are extremely busy. I peeped my head in several times and every time it was a packed house. The store associates, when you can grab them, are extremely friendly. The selection is a decent size and the dresses are beautiful. The lost of star is solely based off cost. When I went in with my mom, she was looking for her dress. Mentally she would shell out whatever to get her dress. Her only stipulation was her perfect dress would be in store. She didn't want to order anything. So of course she found plenty of things that she liked that weren't immediately available in her size. Sales associate got her to try on other items that she at first wouldn't have checked twice. But the woman is more stubborn than me and nothing was perfect. Of course I took down, the names of the collections and the cost because I wanted to end her dress search asap and get back my weekends. The lowest range mother of the bride/groom dresses that I was able to find in store was $700. Not a huge selection in that range but still several options. We found her perfect dress (which she originally found here) in her size, in another store, a county over, an 1 hour til closing, the last in that color, for almost $300 cheaper that included alterations that she wouldn't need. I bought my mother-of -the-bride dress from Susan Rose a few months ago. She took my measurements and ordered the dress in the size based on the measurements she had taken. The dress was two sizes too big. There wasn't enough time before my daughter's wedding to order a new one. I hired a seamstress close to my home who informed me that because the dress was so big, she had to take it apart and reassemble it. Needless to say, I had to pay quite a bit of money to have the dress altered correctly. Additionally, the seamstress informed me that this dress was sold in Neiman Marcus one year ago (she had been a Neiman Marcus seamstress for 20 years). Was in the area looking for mother of the groom dresses. Remembered seeing this store online and called to see if I could drop in without an appointment. Person on phone said it would be okay but that she had an apt at 1pm. I walked in and was surprised by how small the shop was. She had 1-2 other clients in the store. My MIL asked if she had a catalog of dresses to which she laughed at and pretty much indirectly said it was a dumb question. Oh ok. She asked what our budget was and I said 500. She explained to me that their dresses typically start at 800 and our budget would limit our selection. At this point I felt like the whole apt was over in her eyes. A few other people started to trickle in and I could hear her make a slick remark how it's good that she's busy but "some people don't make appointments". From here on out we just seemed to annoy her. My MIL was not at all impressed with the dresses in this shop and didn't want to waste her time trying them on. She still convinced her to try on a few dresses. She put on the first one and hated it so much she immediately took it off. Saleswoman rudely says to me "I can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped". I don't know this woman's name. She was aggressive, loud, and came off as arrogant and rude. If you expect clients to pay $800 for a dress how about you learn some customer service skills. I understand you felt overwhelmed by how many people were in the shop but you could have told me on the phone that I needed an appointment. Do not say appointments are RECOMMENDED if you would actually prefer them to be required. We ended up walking out after a few minutes. Will never return and don't recommend to other. On March 2nd my daughter purchased her prom dress from Susan Rose. The dress was supposed to arrive to their store in 4 to 5 weeks for alterations and her prom was going to be on May 9th. Due to the Covid-19 situation her dress never arrived to the store, and the owner refuses to give her a refund. She is still saying that the dress will arrive "sometime" and refuses to refund my daughter's credit card, we are talking about almost $600.00 We all know what our seniors have gone thru a lot this year, most people and businesses tried to do something nice to make the students feel special.... except for this business. Here we are TWENTY FOUR WEEKS AFTER, waiting for different organizations to intervene and help us out, because credit store or a prom dress five months late is unacceptable. When we picked up the dress the woman who must be the owner or manager was just plain RUDE! Had I known this about the store I would have definitely gone elsewhere. I went today to the store in search for a mother of the bride dress with my aunt. We were greeted not so nicely as a matter fact if looks could kill we would not be here today. There were two workers, both at first were hostile and just plan rude. I did in fact see some eye rolling and talking about us in secret. Now I will say that one of the ladies warmed up and started to be nice and helpful. When we were there another group of ladies (also hispanic) walked in after. The worker was extremely rude to them and saying backhanded remarks, in my opinion they were 100% racially motivated. Now I see we are not the first people to write a review concerning racial issues. Despite of how the owner may spin their response like in other reviews I also experienced it as well. My aunt was about to make a purchase but I refuse to let her support such a nasty establishment. I have never in my life felt so unwelcome. It was a little suspicious how the other ladies who were in fact white were treated super nicely. To anyone thinking about finding a beautiful dress for prom, you probably have a high chance of finding it, but god forbid you need an alteration for it. I went in about a month ago to find my prom dress and I definitely found it. It's a gorgeous dress and nonetheless there were some alterations needed and things that I wanted to do to my dress because of personal preference, as many reviews on this store, they promised me heaven and eventually gave me quite the opposite. I wanted the sleeves of my dress to fall over my shoulders and I wanted to open the back a bit more. (All of this was said to be possible) my friend and I came in for our fitting (keep in mind that i live almost two hours away from this place) and that day we had a different alteration lady by the name of Maria. We walked in, put on our dresses, and got everything pinned for fixing. Everything was going as planned. So we are given our estimate and my price remained the same for alteration but my friends went up in about 80$ which was a bit annoying because we were told differently the first day we came but we moved on since we hoped at the moment it would be worth it. So we went back home and two weeks past for our third and what we thought was supposed to be our last fitting. We walk into the store and get welcomed by what I'm sure is the owner. Later we find our alteration lady Maria, and she gives us our dresses almost in a rushed manner. I see my dress looks no differently then how it did before we came but I try it on anyway. I noticed the sleeves were not over my shoulder and were extremely tight, I could barely move my arms. I walk out and Maria says to go out so she can see "I've been waiting 30 minutes out here" she said. Which was obviously not true. I go out and my grandmother which was the one who paid for my dress asks why the sleeves aren't ok and why the back remained the same. She later on proceeds to tell my grandma that the dress wasn't made for what I wanted and that she never said she was able to do that. I was extremely annoyed because of the lack of respect the lady was giving to us. To cut this short. The lady resorted to say that my friends dress didn't fit because she had gained weight!! And when my grandma wanted to wait for our dresses to be fixed she said we couldn't wait in the store which the owner did not believe was said from her. We left the store and came back an hour and a half later and we could not believe that our 600 dollar dresses were already done. We try them on and everything seems fine but I notice that the sewing of my sleeves could have been done by a five year old. You can see the thread come out of the dress which at that point I grabbed my dress, paid what she calls to be an alterer and left the store. What I thought was going to be a beautiful experience turned into a night mare. I do not recommend!! read more

I am a repeat customer of Susan Rose. This purchase was for a Sweet 16 gown for my daughters party. They had the perfect gown, very age appropriate and helped keep us in line with what our vision for her party was. When the dress came in, we chose to take the dress to a seamstress close to our home that we had used for over 10 years for all kinds of alterations including numerous gowns and dresses. This time, that seamstress ruined the dress. She tried to "fix" it and further destroyed the gown. We were 10 Days out from her party and now had no dress and I had a 15 year old in tears as she loved the gown. My daughters gown was special ordered and we called to Rae Ann to explain what happened. I was a bit nervous to call, as we did not use her seamstresses. I could not have prepared myself for the support we received from her. Rae Ann was very supportive and asked that we bring the dress in, so they could See if there was anything they could do. We did the very next day, they had her try it on and after evaluating the dress, advised that they could shorten it for her or make it a high low, but that there was no way to add fabric on to the bottom of the dress. It was several inches too short on one side and there were numerous other issues. After searching the store for the sample, they determined that it had been sold, so Rae Ann got on the phone with the manufacturer, found the dress in her size and worked out with them to rush the dress to her store. We were now at 7 days prior to the party and it would not arrive until Monday the week of the party and would still need to be altered. We decided to go ahead and order the second dress and prayed it would all work out. Rae Ann called us on Friday to say the dress was in route and that it would be in on Monday and to come in to get her fitted. To say her seamstresses, her kind staff and herself pulled a miracle for us is an understatement. I cannot say thank you enough. They fitted her and had the alterations done and the dress ready Thursday afternoon! Rae Ann, your kindness and willingness to help us with our dress dilemma was above and beyond. You helped my daughter have the night of her dreams in a gown that she glowed in. You didn't have to fix what someone else ruined, but, you did and did it with a smile and a hug. Sooooo..DISAPPOINTED with the store (owner). My daughter and I bought a prom dress from Susan Rose. We were very happy with the service initially. While in the store, my daughter tried on the dress and we loved it. There was however a small place on the back of the dress at the bottom of the zipper where a few seams were busted. We thought..no big deal the seamstress can take care of that. We purchased the dress and I took it to have the it altered. When I went back to pick up the dress, I was asked if the dress came from a second hand store because it had CLEARLY been worn. The inside lining of the dress by the zipper had a huge hole in it.. From the outside it looked like a only a few stitches but from the inside a different story. The seamstress had to remove the entire zipper to patch the lining. When I called the store to tell the owner, she had a VERY dismissive attitude. To begin w/I only wanted to share my disappointment with that experience but I was met with excuse after excuse. I said to her, when you pay $500 for a gown you don't expect to get it home and find a huge hole in the lining. You should be able to step into your dress and go! Her response was you didn't pay $500 you paid $468. WTF?? Did she really say that? Now I'm pissed! The truth is..By the time I paid to fix their mess, it was well OVER $500!! Long story short, she said, and I quote.."There is nothing that I can do for you". Which was fine, because I wasn't asking for anything except some good customer service and perhaps an "I so sorry, how can we make this a better experience for you". Again I didn't want anything from them except an acknowledgement that the dress was damaged. For #Susanrosedresses to have such an outstanding reputation this experience was a total disappointment. I had a wedding to attend in Ft. Lauderdale, FL last Saturday. I arrived in FL Thursday night from DC with no dress (long story!..). I called Susan Rose on Friday around noon, and hopelessly asked them if there was any way they would be able to sell me a dress I would be able to wear the very next day. The lady who answered the phone was very nice, and simply said "Of course, come on over!" We got a Zipcar and were at Susan Rose in the afternoon. When I arrived, the lady who had answered the phone earlier recognized me and welcomed me. She introduced me to another lady, who would help me find a dress. The lady who helped me find my dress is very experienced and is excellent at her job. I told her what type of an event this would be and within two minutes, she pulled three dresses that were gorgeous, yet not overstated (nobody should outdo the bride!). One of the dresses looked great on me, and while it was head-turning gorgeous, there was no bling bling and it looked very elegant: it was perfect! The in-store seamstress then immediately pinned the dress on me to hem and make the alterations. The dress was ready the next morning. I got to wear the dress to the wedding, where I got so many compliments on my looks and the dress. One guest specifically asked me which store I bought the dress from. I could not be more grateful to the wonderful Susan Rose staff and could not praise and recommend Susan Rose enough! The only constructive criticism I can give them is: Provide garment bags for your customers! It was quite disappointing that the store didn't have any garment bags to put my gown in, especially since I was traveling. Considering I had spent $600 on the gown (and that is on the lower end of the spectrum), it should have come with a garment bag. read more
