Susan Lewis and her team have been such a great help to me getting all of my taxes and financials in order for my small business. I had a poor experience with a different CPA and it's been such a wonderful experience with this company so far! Everyone has been great at letting me know what they need from me in order to file and assess the proper documents and I received a full check-list of everything they'll need to file my 2017 taxes where I had to guess at everything the year before with a different company. I can only echo what others have said: after initially being impressed in my new client conversation, I found almost every aspect of the services terrible for the two years I used them. The first year, I told them (repeatedly) that I'd be out of the country on tax day and they'd need to email me, but they didn't and I had email them numerous times to get any update at all. And the second year, I got my documents to them very early and they still filed an extension for me. In both cases, my taxes ended up being much more stressful than they would have been if I'd filed them myself. Additionally, my extremely simple taxes cost $570 total, which strikes me as exceptionally high for only really needing to deal with the two jobs I held during the year. read more

Working with Susan Lewis CPA has been a terrible experience. As of early August, my 2023 taxes were still not filed. Communications from their team often went weeks without a response, and I had to follow up more than 10 times to get updates. I found Susan Lewis CPA through an internet search in early February. During my initial conversation with Susan, I explained that I needed a full-service firm, as my previous individual preparer failed to submit filings on time. Susan assured me that her firm could handle my 2023 taxes and LLC needs for 2024. After submitting the initial documents, I went over a month without any progress updates. In mid-April, someone requested additional documents required for filing. Another month passed before I heard that my taxes were being finalized. Follow-up questions were met with week-long delays. I eventually met in person with someone not directly handling my account to review my filings and ask further questions. They apologized for the communication issues and said Susan would get in touch. When Susan finally contacted me, she cited a shortage of CPA professionals as the reason for the communication delays and the incomplete status of my taxes. I asked what assurances she could provide that future filings would be submitted on time if I continued to be a responsive client. I also requested a reduction in my invoice due to the poor service. Someone else from the firm then informed me that they could not guarantee timely completion of my future tax needs and that there would be no adjustment to the bill. At this point, I knew I needed to find a new CPA but still needed my current taxes filed. However, two more questions have stretched things out another month, and I am still waiting for a response. I have decided to go elsewhere for this year's and future tax needs. I am already receiving state notices about overdue filings and cannot wait any longer for Susan Lewis CPA to respond. My new firm completed everything tax related for me in 3 weeks. Throughout this process, I responded to all information requests within days. Susan Lewis CPA had to be reminded to respond to me over 10 times. It is unacceptable for them to blame a staffing shortage after the fact. They should have informed me in March if they were experiencing delays. If Susan Lewis CPA does not have enough staff, they should not take on new clients and promise to manage their tax services. You would be wise to seek another CPA. read more

I don't know if I just caught this business at a bad time or what, but this was a really, really bad experience. I'm a small business owner with limited understanding of financials/taxes/etc. so I was seeking a company to help work with me not just on the numbers but on understanding the process. I had a wonderful first call with Susan, who explained everything in plain English and seemed genuinely interested in helping me with my taxes and accounting. Everything after that has been a nightmare, unfortunately. There is zero consistency in communication and no clear understanding of who is working on your account (I would email one person and get a call from someone else entirely). I would provide the documents requested and not hear anything from anyone for two weeks, until I reached back out to them for an update. The last straw was having asked time and again for a billing update on work they started doing for me to clean up my books - much needed work that I am VERY grateful for! I asked multiple times for an update on billing and how much this was going to cost me and I never got an answer. When I tried expressing my disappointment, I got a curt email reply with a surprise invoice for over $800! At NO point did anyone say "here's what we're going to do and here's how much it will probably cost" so I could make an informed decision. Even shady mechanics will at least give you an estimate! Even worse was that when I expressed my frustrations, no one on Susan's team seemed interested in connecting with me and solving the problem or understanding where I was coming from. They just wrote me off. It's poor business practice and I'm sharing this experience to hopefully prevent any similar small businesses from experiencing the same runaround. Review of Susan Lewis, LLC What a difference a year makes. Last year, this company was phenomenal. I met with Susan for the first time pre tax season and was very impressed and hired her. My taxes were done with amazing speed and I was very happy with my service. This year, in early March, I followed the protocol and mailed in my many page document with all the information, along with all my attachments. On her disclaimer, there was a statement that mentioned she had partnered with another company and that we would still get great service. It was completely the opposite and when I hadn't heard within a week of the tax due date, I called, spoke with someone who could not give me answers. I asked for a call back. I never received one. As a matter of fact, after two emails and several calls, I still did not receive any response. On Saturday, April 12, my fiance came with me to the office to see what was going on. The office seemed to be in chaos and several clients in the waiting room experienced the same long wait and lack of response I did. I was told they were working on my taxes, and they asked me a question, which I had previously answered on the phone during one of my calls to them. We told the office that we needed a call by the end of the evening with an approximate cost I would have to pay so that I had time to gather the money. Again, no call. We went to the office Sunday and they were not in. My boyfriend went on Monday, April 14 and the same chaos in the waiting room ensued. Several very angry people with no tax returns that were promised them much earlier. These were clients that had been going to Susan for several years and counted on her. We ended up taking the returns back, which were never started and did them himself. To say I was upset is an understatement. I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism and such lack of customer service. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this office. You will not be sorry you did. read more

Have used Susan Lewis CPA's before with good results. This past year was a disaster. I think they farmed out there tax prep or something. Met with someone to review my file. 3 weeks went by with no communication. I followed up and they said they would be ready by Tuesday (waiting for an invoice...whatever that means). I went in on Thursday...still waiting for an invoice. Taxes due in 5 days. I asked for my materials back and did them on my own. read more

Worst tax services I have ever encountered. My appointment to meet with Lisa was scheduled for 5pm March 13, 2025. I waited over an hour in their waiting room. After multiple emails and phone calls the week before April 15th to find out the status of my return, not one email was answered or phone call was returned. The office phone was never answered the 2 weeks after the 15th. They finally prepared my taxes on April 27th. I am unsure if they filed an extension on my behalf, because no one contacted me. A receptionist did answer the phone on April 28th when I called. They said my taxes were processed and could be picked up the following day. I was not happy with my with return but way to late to make any changes or adjustments. I am unsure how this company stays in business. read more

I am not sure what happened with this company this past year but filing our taxes turned out to be a disaster. I dropped my documents off on time and didn't hear from anybody. I finally called closer to April 15 which then nobody answered. I left several messages and there was no response. The only way to talk to somebody was by showing up at the office and each time I did we were told they were "working on it." An extension had to be filed and the funny part is nobody at the office did our taxes, they farmed it out to somebody else. Susan, I am not sure what's going on with your business but the right thing to do would've been to send a mass email out to your clients stating why you were running behind. You think being a client for over 15 years would count for something but I guess not. You could've made this so right. To call the office and leave messages and not hear back from anybody is beyond rude and unprofessional . Then to show up and have the person behind the desk look at you like a deer in headlights is even worse. I definitely will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Susan and her office were very responsive and filed my tax returns in a very timely manner.

They made a filing error for our business and never followed through with the IRS. when we tried to contact them, they NEVER returned our phone calls or emails. We still have never heard back from them and the IRS wants us to pay 1500 dollars for their lack of follow through. We were charged twice as much for their services than our new accountant. Our taxes were filed - this is pretty much the only positive thing I can say about our family's experience with Susan Lewis. We found out the day before our taxes were due that we had to file an extension - they left us a quick voicemail and played it off like no big deal. Some families depend on their tax returns being completed and payed out on time. Right after tax season, the whole company went on "break" and we had to wait several weeks before they would start working on our file again. After several phone calls (returned 3-4 days after calling) we finally were able to file our taxes in July. We were very disappointed, especially because we are new to the area and looking for long term accounting support for our personal and small business taxes. read more
