If I could put 0 stars, I would. I only cook 1-3 times a year, so naturally I LOVE going out to eat. Even when I go alone I prefer to dine in rather than placing a to go order as I love the experience of eating out. Bad experience from the moment I walked in. Then the lady brings my crab Rangoons (the right size), I said thank you and she literally dropped it on the table and stormed off. Now I got my sushi, mojito, and 2nd order of my crab rangoons all before my water with lemon. Now that I got my water, of course it came with no lemon. Once he brought my lemon and napkins I didn't see him for another 10 minutes where he brought my check.... Sure, me who ordered a drink and an appetizer with my entire surely didn't want dessert. As soon as I saw him walking towards me with the check, I pulled out my debit card and I asked for military discount. He said that they have it and took my military ID, he then came out without discounting me and actually overcharged me, instead of ringing me up for a six piece crab Ragoon like I ordered I was charged for three separate orders of two piece crab Rangoon orders. No military discount is not the end of the world, and I don't care if a place doesn't have it, but the fact that you took my ID, overcharged me because you messed up my appetizer order, and then didn't give the discount that you said you guys offered on top of everything else was just a really nice cherry on the cake. So I went here with an old family friend. The special is good. Honor it with an Olympic attempt. My friend only eats fish once every 6 weeks and he did 8 rolls. I don't say that with knowledge I say that with statistics. Almost everything outside of those two will be scrofula or other weird diarrhea fish. What a difference a 6 months makes. My favorite Sushi bar has not kept to their standard. I had my anniversary dinner at Sushi Ai on Dec 7, 2023. Restaurant was clean and the wait staff was pleasant as usual. However, when the order came I was disappointed in the size of the fish. Now just a paper thin sliver of fish on a large clump of white rice. Salmon, tuna, octopus, eel, all just very thin or small. They also seemed to change the recipe of the Dragon Roll and veggie rolls. Now both were different tasting and not as good as previously. I do not know if the Thursday night Sushi chiefs were new or different from the normal weekend crew but the experience was not as good as the past. I am reluctant to try them again. read more

I'm conflicted on this review. Food quality - 5 stars I am pretty picky and know good sushi from poor, and Sushi AI is right up there with very good sushi/sashimi. I've been here maybe 10 times and never had a complaint bout the food, it's always very good; and most importantly, the fish is very good and very fresh. Service - 2.5-3 stars The service is the real disappointment here, and by service I mean the actual wait staff. They are attentive enough for the most part (acceptable, but not great) but the real disappointment is that they are always quite cold and unfriendly. It's been my experience that the Dorsett Rd location is slightly better than this one. The miso soup and green tea are never hot enough at Bogey Hills Sushi Ai. Everything tastes kind of the same, the texture of the fish is a little "plastic-y:" kind of compressed and overly firm. I've never gotten sick here, which I don't say in a snarky way. Raw fish, in a land-locked state, hundreds of miles in any direction from an ocean, and then AYCE on top of it, that would seem to be a recipe for gastrointestinal disaster. But it's never caused me any problems. For this reason alone, I award it a third star. If you're broke like me, and are occasionally stricken with the desire to dunk plugs of rice (and other nondescript, largely unidentifiable Ingredients) into a soy sauce and horseradish puddle and consume same, this is an option. read more

There aren't many good sushi places around St. Charles with good prices, but Sushi Ai is definitely a good choice. It stands out from others because of their bottomless sushi deal - dinner is $19.99 for as much sushi you want to order, while lunch is $12.99 for the same deal (with less options). The only catch is that each person there must get the bottomless deal if they plan to have unlimited sushi. If you are caught sharing or don't end up eating everything you ordered, you will be charged for each roll at regular menu price. So go in with a plan of how much you'll eat! I am definitely one to order roll after roll after roll and at any other sushi place, and that adds up. I've spent $80+ on just sushi and nigiri at other places, so a flat $20 price at Sushi Ai is amazing! The employees there are all very friendly as well and the atmosphere there is good for what you'd find at an average-priced sushi place. Having eaten at many other sushi restaurants, their sushi definitely competes with any of the other more expensive places in regards to taste. As for how "exotic" the rolls can be, they are all basic (but very good) rolls. You won't find anything like octopus or squid in their rolls, but they do have octopus and squid nigiri (which is included in the bottomless sushi deal)!
