I'm so glad I tried this place out because it is worth going to again. It's quiet, peaceful and the ambience is just right. The lighting is also very nice-same goes for the decorations. Service was okay, I would call it satisfactory. Restrooms were sanatized, which I would also call expected. Sushi was absolutley delicous. All the ingredients mixed in your mouth-absolutley savory and the flavor is pretty unami. I think they added the right amount of sauce as well. Mochi was a little pricey, but it was a nice ending to the lunch. It was just the right amount of sweet. Would I go here again? Absolutley. My family gets this place at least two or three times a month. It's delicious! The people are always so nice even when we get it to go they always add extra extras in the bag. Been here maybe around 4-5 times with my family. Every time we walk in the vibe is always pleasant, everyone is cheerful and attendant. They constantly check on you if everything is okay at the beginning then understand to give you personal space to enjoy your food and not constantly have to answer questions with a mouth full of food. They made sure to come around, pick up, refill drinks, and stay around if we had any questions. Food is also pleasant, great price for all you can eat. I usually am wary of appetizers but they have a great selection! The menu also makes sure to describe what is in each sushi roll for those who are picky and looking for something specific. The food does make you full but not heavy, and sometimes you have leftovers you can take home! There is a 50 cent charge for every sushi piece you don't finish but I haven't seen them enforce this rule that much. AYCE Lunch a little after 1 pm on Tuesday with my college student home for Spring break. Surprised that most of the booths in the section we were being seated in were occupied! Some left while we were there but more came in. Lunch AYCE is $15.99 for regular, $17.99 for Premium, even though their website doesn't specify the latter. We got one of each side; you mark on their 1 pg menus with sharpies then give to server. We have tried a few rolls in the past so we wanted different ones this time. With regular we got miso soup, crab rangoon, spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll, and for round 2, seaweed nigiri & Alaska roll. With premium we got edamame, eel nigiri, Sunset Tokyo (raw salmon on top), American dream (shrimp tempura), and for round 2, Maryland roll. Plates came with decor that my college student said looks like the plants that go in an aquarium! Their Maryland roll is very salty (alot of brown sauce) for our taste, but everything else was good. We finished everything (didn't want to be charged extra for leaving food) and were stuffed. Both servers (a male and a female) shared serving our table, so tips may be pooled here. read more

I love that Sushi Ai is one of the few sushi restaurants that offers AYCE menu in St Louis. The prices have gone up from $18.99 to $23.99/ person (it's been like 4 years since the $18.99) for the regular AYCE menu but I think it's still a good deal. I always love the nigiris (especially the squid and the octopus) as they have a great selection and I can order multiple times. The roll selection is also great to choose from. My favorites are the Volcano, Sapporo and Pop Up. The appetizers menu is alright, it's a nice add-on. I usually order edamame to share with people as it is pretty big then order dumplings and shumai for myself. They also have a regular menu with lots of variety. To be honest, I've been to Sushi Ai so many times, both the Clayton and Ballwin locations but somehow never written a review... I'm glad that the Ballwin location is close to my house and they've been doing an amazing job through out the pandemic! read more

The ambiance is good--attractive, clean and not noisy--a good place to go and have a conversation. The waiter was friendly. All that would have earned a 5 from me , BUT the meal delivery was poor. There were several minutes between the delivery of different diner's meals--so much so that the first diner served was nearly finished by the time the last diner was served. It's been awhile since I've had AYCE sushi so I decided to stop by Sushi Ai on Manchester for dinner. I was excited to have a dine-in AYCE option available. Located in the Lafayette Center, there's plenty of parking space. There were plenty of people in the restaurant for dinner on Saturday night, but I did not have to wait for a seat. I would describe the inside as cozy with not too many tables. I ended up going with the basic $19.99 all you can eat. I ordered a few appetizers, nigiri and rolls. Everything tasted fine. The sushi didn't wow me, but nothing to complain about for AYCE. Food came out pretty quick so not much waiting. Service was great as servers took orders, filled drinks and cleared plates pretty often. The tables and restrooms were clean. I would give Sushi Ai 3.5 stars. I do enjoy coming here when I want to eat a lot of sushi, because of their all you can eat option. I remember back in my high school days, I would come here all the time after tennis practice to get my fix, and it would really fill me up. The restaurant is located in a plaza with a Dierbergs, and there's usually plenty of parking. I haven't been here since they remodeled, and I do like what they've done to the place. The setting isn't as open anymore, and there's more booths, which I think makes it feel a little more intimate. They have a standard ($19.99) and premium ($23.99) option for their all-you-can eat menu. They also have a regular menu you can order off with classic Japanese appetizers and entrees. I usually go for the standard all-you-can eat option which has a good variety to choose from. I usually order A LOT of salmon nigiri. To be honest, their fish to rice ratio isn't amazing, but for the price I think it's pretty fair. The fish quality is decent, but also not amazing. I've never seen the restaurant super crowded, so the service is pretty quick. And the servers are always super nice. I would recommend trying out this place! read more

We were the only ones in the restaurant on Sunday afternoon. Service was not very good at all. Slow to take our order and refill drinks. The edamame was ok. Not bad, not great. All three of the sushi rolls were really good though! However the mochi was nasty....we ordered mango and strawberry. The strawberry was so badly freezer burned that the rice paper was HARD ( not frozen, but dried up and hard), and they covered it in whip cream and chocolate sauce. I've never had it that way before, and hope not to ever again. Disappointed, because I used to go here pre-Covid all the time and the appetizers/sushi/service/dessert used to be really great.
