Mgr took all of the info and told me the credit would be issued and my son should have email confirmation of gift no later than 12/30. To date, no card, no credit. Called again 1/02. Both Megan and Annabelle said all mgrs were in meeting. No one called back ! I contacted the them early afternoon, prior to service hours. At this point, very frustrated and out $150. read more

Probably the best sushi place I have visited in Denver. I went in on a Saturday late afternoon thinking I could catch their Happy Hour specials. Boy, did other people have the same idea. The place was packed and the wait was about 40 minutes. Totally worth it! I was able to snag us 2 seats at the bar where they had full service and fortunately did not have to wait the entire time. I enjoyed the yellowtail and salmon nigiri. Both types of fish were so fresh, they melted in my mouth. I also tried the firecracker roll - just the right amount of spice and flavor. The texture was also perfect as it had a little crunch in the center. It was served with cilantro and jalapeno which you could take off or leave on per your taste. My friend is currently keto so she did sashimi versions of everything. Also had the seaweed salad which was good, although a bit on the sweet side followed by the tofu. Everything is delicious, fresh, expertly prepared, and beautifully presented. Servers are attentive and great about answering menu questions. We came here for our anniversary dinner. The sushi was incredible but there were several things that fell a bit short for me that I would like to make note of. We made reservations several weeks in advance and noted that we would like a nicer table due to it being our anniversary. We were sat at a small table on the Izakaya Den side with what seemed like some other walk-in groups as overflow. We specifically made the reservation for Sushi Den. The service was a bit slow at first, the server seemed inundated with other tables all sat around the same time which I do not blame her for. We had to flag her down a few times to put in our drink order and food orders. We were looking to wine and dine ourselves for a special occasion and we spent $600 on dinner for two. I just wish we weren't treated so much as an afterthought. I would come back with the hopes that the service was worth the price tag. read more

We have heard amazing things about this restaurant for years, and finally made it here for the first time last night. We booked omakase (I leave it to you) at the chef's table as a birthday dinner celebration. We were surprised at the line going into the restaurant - but were able to skip the line with the reservation. Masks are required to enter the restaurant, and go to your table - once seated you are able to take off your mask. We were seated at the counter overlooking the prep area, and were facing Chef Yasu. I will note that he reached out to my fiancé ahead of the meal - and while omakase is normally up to the chef, and what is fresh/in season, he also takes into account likes/dislikes and creates a specialized menu from there. Where to even start with this meal...it was amazing and thoughtful from beginning to end. Chef Yasu is truly an artist - every single bite was thoughtfully and beautifully arranged, and so dynamic and flavorful. The fish tasted so unbelievably fresh - I haven't had sushi this good since we lived in the Bay Area - and ate a Sushi Ran. Our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable (about sake and sushi). I also appreciated the knowledge Chef Yasu shared with us while preparing our dishes. He followed that up with an email today with links to where he's from, where the fish is sourced (and sent to the restaurant within 24 hours), and 'mikan' or tangerines. I honestly can't say enough good things about this restaurant, the amazing experience, and the wonderful Chef Yasu. We will definitely be back!! read more

I was able to book a Chef's Table seat in front of Chef Yasu on a Saturday evening - what an experience! When you book your seat, the chef e-mails you a questionnaire to figure out your preferred flavor profile and the kinds of sushi you enjoy. I've had a decent amount of sushi within the states and in Japan, so he curated a very traditional-esque menu for me. The experience lasted about 2 hours, and my bill was ~$200, but the menu varies by person, which is certainly a unique way of hosting an omakase. My menu consisted of a sashimi dish, a cooked fish dish, a set of 11 nigiri followed by 5 more, then 2 more, then dessert. The sashimi dish was a typical hamachi-serrano dish with ponzu that I've had at multiple sushi restaurants, but here, I noticed that the sashimi slices are cut pretty thickly. The serrano peppers had a strong kick to them, too. Loved the boldness of the dish. This was followed by black cod with eggplant and sake kasu. The chef explained to me that the paste is a byproduct of sake after the sake is pressed through the fermented rice. It was flavorful and tasty with the eggplant and cod! Chef Yasu prepared the sushi at the bar in front of me, but it was unfortunately hard to see the whole process, as the glass obscures the view. However, the sushi were very beautiful and delicious! First set of nigiri consisted of red snapper, amaebi, aji, kanpachi, hotate, hagatsuo, kani, tako, bluefin akami zuke, chutoro, and otoro. Again, the pieces of fish were thicker than I've had at other places - I love that! You reallly get all the flavors of fish! The next set consisted of hamachi belly, New Zealand king salmon, ika with uni, Santa Barbara uni, and aburi saba. I don't think I've ever had saba aburi style, but it was SOOO good! Very juicy, strong flavor but not fishy. Then I had the aburi toro and anago. I was pretty full by then, so I requested an end to my omakase menu. As a palate cleanser, he gave me half of an orange, delicately placed on its peel. I did have room for dessert, of course, so I went with the green tea tiramisu! What a treat! The layers of soft cake with red bean azuki in the middle and green tea chocolate at the bottom... And a strawberry, blackberry, some mango slices... SO GOOD. I shared the cake with my dining neighbor, who had a similar omakase menu as myself (although he did miss the first 2 appetizer courses). Chef Yasu is a funny person - he was cracking jokes while serving us. On the night that I went, there were 2 people (myself included) at 7pm, and 2 others who joined around 7:30pm. I was impressed with how Chef Yasu handled the different menus with timing out the courses so that no one was left waiting too long. I believe he has an earlier seating on some nights as well. Best way to book is by filling out the reservation form found on their website, and they will get back to you shortly! Definitely recommend experiencing the chef's table if you have the chance! Sushi Den. Nothing can truly describe my experience here-- you really have to try it yourself. However I'll try my best! We ordered a bunch of different sushi, sashimi, and nigiri, some off the regular menu and a couple off the catch of the day menu. While everything was 10/10, the wagyu roll, garden roll, and catch of the day Osaka style fish dish we got blew it out of the park. We ended up ordering a second garden roll even though we were full from the rest. The wagyu in the wagyu roll was perfectly savory and seasoned. The garden roll has a sesame sauce that sounds odd but is fantastic. Even my skeptical, meat-loving boyfriend fell in love with it. The sushi platter was a great way to try a bunch of different sushi/fish, and made for a great way to get filled up without spending a ton on extras. Lastly, the restaurant itself was gorgeous! It's the perfect spot for date night, and splitting with someone else it's honestly not too expensive for the quality either. Can't wait to go back in a couple weeks! read more

Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE Japanese food. I will pick it over basically anything else. So, of course I was excited to try Sushi Den. I've definitely been spoiled throughout my life by the sushi in LA and Vancouver, and I have to say there are some things here that'll have me coming back. I came in with a friend on a Sunday night and we were seated at the sushi bar after a 40 minute wait (checked in around 5:30pm) and it was a perk to get to sit in front of the sushi chefs. We got our sushi pretty much within the 10 minutes after submitting the order even though there wasn't an empty table at the restaurant. Props to the sushi chefs, they're the best. The highlight for us was the salmon aburi (seared salmon belly) and anything with eel. I could tell the difference in quality of the California rolls (for some reason, it's hard to find the shredded imitation crab here in these rolls in Denver?). Other rolls we tried were alright, nothing special. I wasn't as big of a fan of the sukiyaki we ordered, it wasn't served steaming hot as it usually is, so the dish cooled down pretty quickly and was lukewarm by the time we finished. Service was not bad considering it was so busy. It definitely helped that other members of the staff were able to assist with ordering. For what it is, Sushi Den is pretty good, but I'll only come back to eat their more unique food items. read more

We really wanted to go to Izakaya Den but we were told that both of the restaurants were serving the same menu so we ended up at Sushi Den. We had a reservation for Saturday night which seemed to be necessary because they were busy. I came here with the intention of making my own $100 dollar omakase menu since. We ordered appetizers, nigiris and rolls. Everything was super fresh and delicious. When I was about to fall asleep that night, I started thinking about all the deliciousness I ate a few hours earlier and got really hungry again. I will definitely be back in the future. read more

My favorites were the grilled squid, dynamite, amaebi roll, lychee ice cream, and the Belgian chocolate cake. They were out of the uni but i usually love it. If you're ordering edamame, I'd ask for it spicy, which isn't too spicy and adds a flavorful spin. Street paid parking (2 hour limit) is hard to find during peak hours but valet service is available. The restaurant's interior is comfortable, clean, and upscale and can accommodate large groups. There was a line to the outside on a Monday night. There are a lot of restaurants and shops around the area that it'll be fun to explore if you're waiting. Their selection of wine is great and they select a few to recommend that pairs well with seafood. Their Japanese whisky stock is also pleasing for those who enjoy whisky. read more

Overall it's good but nothing to really rave too much about. I also think they kind of over use jalapeño in many of the dishes. The items we ordered were the Serrano Sashimi with Himachia, Bluefin Akami Zuke (Spain), Copper River Salmon, Kurodai, Rainbow Roll, New Style Salmon Roll, Spicy Aburia Toro (Croatia), Umeiro, Toro (Croatia), and Lobster Tempura. Everything was extremely tasty - some rolls with many different flavors that complimented one another, & other nigiri sushi that were simple and perfect. My favorite items were definitely the Spicy Aburia Toro, the Toro, the Copper River Salmon, and the Serrano Sashimi. They are also very cautious with Covid protocol. I have been to sushi den multiple times for the past ten years and always had a great experience. But I went recently again and was disgusted. The chef kept wiping the pieces of sushi on his dirty towels that he cleans his hands with. I knew I was gonna get sick eating it but I ate it anyway. Sushi Den hits it out of the park. I arrived at around 5:15 on a Saturday, waited in line to put my name in for about 30 minutes, and got lucky to be seated at the bar immediately. I ordered the Sushi Dinner with a tuna roll. It came with a complimentary cucumber/seaweed salad (which was refreshing), a miso soup, a sizable salad (that wasn't the usual sad iceberg lettuce with a premade ginger dressing), and half an orange with mint at the end of the meal.
