Literally no English spoken by our server so I couldn't even get her to understand that I want cucumber in my avocado roll . Beef teriyaki tasted like mushroom soup , weird Unidentified green spots all over my shrimp tempura , miso soup was terrible . To use the bathroom you have to take a key with a map drawn on the keychain in broken English only around the building and through the square into an absolutely terrifying corridor (not labeled) with random doors "it literally felt like a horror movie" The only thing good was the little Japanese candy they gave us as we paid the bill . The name and ambience is decidely off putting but thankfully the food is great. They seafood is fresh and they have gluten free soy sauce.

The space is small and airy, nicely decorated. The food comes really quick. Their menu has sushi, rice bowls and udons. It's a small menu but everything is good. I had the Salmon Zuke. Raw salmon, 6-7 pieces each one quite substantial, laid on top of rice dome, with egg yolk on top of volcano, and pickled onions. I LOVE the combo of egg yolk and pickled onions - I haven't had this before and the flavour really really works. It leaves a delightful aftertaste in my mouth too. It's not that much food but really really good. Also has a piece of deep fried seaweed or something which really complements the rice. My wife's truffle mushroom udon looks like a work of art. The garnish in the middle was pretty impressive and I tasted the sauce which was good. Also tried a little of the pork miso. Nice flavours and the crispy garnish really works. For a little hole in the wall place at bottom of train station this place's bowls and udons hit far above the price in quality. Very impressive place.

In addition, we tried their Tomato Prawn and the Matcha Strawberry Swirl. The tomato Prawn dish was hands down the best dish. The Truffle Mushroom Udon had a lot of umami flavour which I didn't mind, but my partner found it a bit overpowering. All the other side dishes on the tray were great. The Matcha Strawberry Swirl was quite sweet in my partner's opinion, but I didn't mind the sweetness. There was definitely more strawberry flavour than matcha which was unfortunate because we really wanted the taste the matcha as well. Overall, staff was very nice and service was quick. It was very cozy, warm, open concept where you can see the chef, and a welcoming environment.

If you want a reasonable place for dinner, check this place out…read more I ordered the "roll set" from the set menu section. For $26, you receive six large pieces of California Roll, eight small pieces of Dynamite Roll, three salmon maki and three tuna maki, chicken karaage and mini salad. The sushi was of good quality and had a good taste in my opinion. The salad was seasoned with a nice dressing but I passed on the chicken Karaage because I'm eating gluten free. Bonus-The restaurant had GF soy sauce! Yay! For this price point, at dinnertime, I thought this was a steal of a deal!

I really like their teishoku (set meal) options! I got a combo set that comes with both chirashi don and udon, plus a small side salad and three pieces of tempura for $27.95. The sashimi was super fresh, and even the salad greens were crisp with zero bad leaves. The rice in the chirashi don was delicious, it's sprinkled with a layer of furikake which makes it so easy to eat. The fish slices were a bit thin, but since you get 5 or 6 different kinds plus some fish roe, I can't complain. The presentation of the whole chirashi don was adorable, complete with a tiny edible (?) flower on top! The interior is super comfortable and feels spacious, even though seating is a bit limited. They were doing great business for lunch, literally packed the entire time! This was my first visit, but I definitely wouldn't mind stopping by again if I'm in the area to try their other dishes. Recommended!

We tried more of their cooked dishes and their special sushi didn't meet expectations. The salmon used in the sushi roll was off and I wished they created the roll with smoked salmon instead. Their unagi sauce didn't taste good and I likely would not recommend their sushi rolls with raw fish or sashimi for takeout. However, their hours of operation with no breaks and happy hour menu still make them a candidate for drinks and light bite. Perhaps stick to ordering items that they do well such as their deep fried poach egg dish.

This visit, I just got three things: a spicy California roll, an avocado roll, and miso soup. The avocado in both rolls was not fresh, and neither were the wasabi and ginger. The miso soup was way saltier than needed. I would give them one star, but the tea was good, the servers were working hard, and the service was fast. Although that might not be a good thing for a sushi restaurant and all lol So I'm giving them two stars. (Sorry if that's harsh) ~ Tobias H.
