I apologize in advance if my review seems to be all over the place, but there are quite a few things to note, so please bear with me. I decided to check out I Love Sushi because their combo sets intrigued me. I ordered their "Sushi and Sashimi Combo", which included the following items 2 pieces of salmon and 2 pieces of tuna sashimi, 3 pieces of nigiri (salmon, tuna, and ebi), salad, miso soup, chicken karaage, and salmon oshi. I really liked the variety of options that the combo offered and I enjoyed almost everything that was included. However, I found the chicken karaage to be too battered and too fried for my liking. Additionally, the salmon oshi was a tad spicy for my tolerance, but I'm sure most people would be able to handle it. In terms of customer service and ambiance, I found both the customer service and the setting to be a bit unusual. However, the food arrived in under 10 minutes which pleasantly surprised me. Some of the downfalls of my experience was that although the server greeted me immediately when I arrived, she took quite some time to come check on how the food was after I began eating. I noticed that when she inquired about how everything was she didn't really care about my answer, because she was already starting to walk away as I was saying "it was good". I'd like to note that the restaurant wasn't all that busy. There may have been about 2 - 3 tables at the time. After that I felt quite rushed by the server. Perhaps it was her way to be attentive, but it came across as her wanting me to get back out the door. She asked if I wanted to pack up my food before I was done eating, and pretty shortly after I was done eating, I was handed my bill. A couple of other things that felt unhygienic, was that I noticed when my meal was being delivered to my table she had a set of receipts in her hand, which actually directly came into contact with my food. I decided to brush this off as I didn't want to cause any issues. Another time, she very openly took off one of her shoes and rested that same foot against her other leg. This is extremely unprofessional and I would even argue not food safe. Also, the server was constantly talking loudly to either the staff or clients. It almost felt like she was yelling. Overall, I enjoyed the food, but due to the lukewarm customer service, I likely would not go back or perhaps would only order take out. read more

Second time coming to eat. Little slow with service from the kitchen but serving staff are great. There was a huge birthday party today, so couldn't blame them for the wait. One kid had the beef teriyaki bowl which was so big for him that he had to bring home leftovers. My sushi/sashimi combo #6 was an awesome deal (I didn't enjoy the sunomono so left that, but salad, salmon oshi, sashimi, and chicken karage were fabulous), and had enough to share with my other kid who was waiting a while for his food. I came here and got a sushi combo with tax for $15.24. It is pricy for what you get. The sushi combo came with: -Miso Soup -California rolls (8 pieces) -Tempura (3 pieces) -Spring roll (1 piece) and gyozas (2 pieces) -Nigiri susi (5 pieces) -Salad This is a Korean Japanese restaurant. Tried this spot because they showed up at the top of the delivery app page for Sushi so thought why not! Overall, it was a decent delivery meal. We got some hot items like tempura and agedashi tofu, which were still warm and crispy when they arrived. We've gotten a lot of delivery tempuras and have to say, their batter kept really well and was not soggy at all. It was nice to see that they offer aburi and oishi on the menu. The toro oishi is also topped with garlic chips which added a nice flavor and crunch; their oishi doesn't melt as much as some of the other spots in the city but perhaps travelling might've also contributed to it. The unagi don was reasonable priced and has the best takeout presentation I've seen so far. The don is topped with beet threads and spinach. The rice portion isn't overly large and seems manageable. Although this was a take out order, I really appreciate the time and effort the staff took to gather the order together to make sure that the delivery was smooth. There were two bags for the order and the boxes for the hot items were neatly labelled with a sticker so you'd know what was inside without having to open the box! read more

I've been here a few times before and during covid times and I'm so glad they kept the Mountain Roll all these years!! Its basically a baked california roll with a bunch of sauce and I like adding the chopped scallop option on top. This is the only place I really know of that has this kind of baked sushi with this particular topping and sauce. I guess this will be a good place for meals if you have a group of people who want both Japanese food and tacos/hamburger? We ordered some rolls - Belly King (negitoro with salmon and pesto and garlic chips), aburi salmon oshi and the simple salmon avocado. They were nice. Fresh fish and the rolls were not too big or small. The 3 rolls were a good portion to feed 2 semi-hungry adults. You may want more if you are really hungry. I appreciate that the rice to fish ratio is just right, not too carb heavy. As there are so many better sushi places around, I think the food here is ok, not something I will dream about and want to come back soon. Was in an unfamiliar neighborhood out in Coquitlam, craving sushi. Yelp suggested this place 3 blocks away. I called in the order and went to pick it up. Sushi looked nice enough; it was colorful and appeared appetizing. Unfortunately, two issues arose. The sushi was very warm. I'm guessing that it sat for a while, sandwiched between someone's hot teriyaki rice while waiting for me to pick it up. When I bit into a dynamite roll, the tempura prawn was all warm and soggy, lacking the expected crunch. Due to the warmth and moisture, the meal did not work for me. If you're looking for expensive, bland Chinese sushi then this is your spot. I came here for a quick lunch with my 5 year old cuz we were in a hurry and our go-to MIKA is a little farther away. Ultra salty miso soup devoid of seaweed and real tofu followed by tasteless poorly made sushi. Rice was hard and lacked the nice sweetness that sushi rice is supposed to have. The "chopped scallop" roll had barely any scallops and some generic cheap mayo, but lots of cucumber! Mmm. I also ordered yaki udon with chicken but ill spare you guys my review of that as it's essentially the same as the rest of my review. Honestly floored at how everything from the tea to the soup to the noodles just tasted super bleh. If you rate this place even remotely highly, def try out other sushi joints and taste for yourself. Totally loved this very cool place. They started us with water, Chinese tea and a itty bitty order of yummy soybeans. I came with my girlfriend Serena. She had the sushi combo, ebi sunomono and miso while I enjoyed a miso, ebi sunomono, 1/2 order of salmon sashimi and some agetashi (fries tofu). It was so much that I took the last dish home and yet only came to $18-something. I Love Sushi, YES I DO! Don't let the fact this place is attached to a bowling ally deter you from going because this place is one of the best sushi joints outside of vancouver. I've been a regular patron since they opened, just over a year now, and I have never been disappointed. They care about their food and their customers and it definitely shows. Service is fast and friendly and the food comes quick. Like most sushi places in this city prices are cheap but often they will treat you to a few little things that don't go unnoticed. For example most times I will get complementary miso soup and edamame which are both delicious. If i'm ordering food to go they would give me a free cone while I wait for my order. So if you love sushi, this place is for you! TIP: If you are going to a movie and you think you don't have time for dinner, don't resort from getting food from the theatre. This is my favourite "western-style" sushi joint in the Tri-cities. They embrace the Western palette by offering a large variety of "themed" rolls along side the standard nigiri, bento and teriyaki. Takeout is 5% discount and they offer a complimentary (and sample-sized) spicy yam cone. (Highly recommended) Service is quick and friendly. Debit/credit and cash accepted. Based on its proximity to Silver City and the Zone Bowling, expect a wait during high-traffic times. "I love sushi" made me love sushi even more and more! I came here based on a yelp recommendation and I have had a great experience. It's a small sushi shop with personal touches in the walls, that make the shop very local and special The staff were exceptionally friendly, and you feel the positive vibe all around. The server told us that out order was enough and she was right! The sushi is fresh, and as a newbie in the sushi world, I had a dynamite roll, and it was OMG so goooood! (I don't mind going back now and have another order). Then I shared some beef noodles and teriyaki chicken and they were both good too (esp the beef). I read so much about this place that I decided to give it a try. The place is very simple, clean, friendly atmosphere, happy servers and fast service. Large selection of rolls but not bento boxes available. It is not cheap, it is not expensive but for the quality of the food I found it a bit pricey compared to other Japanese places that serve a bit more of a "gourmet sushi" for the same price. They started us with complementary edamame beans and green tea. I love sushi is one of my go-to Sushi places in the Coquitlam area. They have some pretty tasty specialty rolls, my favourite being the "Spicy Moms Roll". They are pretty generous and usually provide a free edamame appetizer when you show up. The only reason I am not giving I Love Sushi a five star rating is because of how dramatically they have increased their prices since they first opened. Ben's Yams used to be $2, now they are close to $4. Other dishes have received the same fate. The price increase doesn't stop me from going because I love their specialty rolls, but I don't get as much food for $20 as I used to! read more

We've tried this place a few times with the kids. Their bento boxes are great with a few selections that usually are not found in other places....potato croquettes and gyozas. The service is good, the value is there, but the food just isn't up to standard. Sushi is not traditional and can't be considered an attempt at fusion. The bento boxes are packed full of 'value' but all the items taste like they're made 'fresh-frozen' with many deep fried to save time. The teriyaki sauce is also quite terrible and they've lost the roots of a simple Japanese soy & Mirin mix with a bit of ginger. Our table ordered two different teriyaki and the beef had the texture that made me think it was boiled then sauced.
