Got take out chopped scallop roll, California roll, and tuna maki- fresh and delicious :)

First time at Asa Sushi in Kerrisdale on 41st Ave. We had cups and cups of tea. We also had the Mango Sushi Tower with mango, real crab tuna, avocado, rice. It is delicious and filling. The restaurant is cute. The staff attentive and respectful. Lovely place to catch up with a friend.

Solid! Sushi is well-made and flavorful. Well-priced for most dishes. Salmon and tuna were very fresh.

Small Japanese restaurant tucked in Kerrisdale. There's a few seating inside, but a lot of take-outs. Food is on the pricier side, but the dishes are well made. We ordered the Tako Yaki which was piping hot and melts in your mouth. The prawn tempura was super light and crispy and bento box A was pretty good. Service was fast and courteous. There's metered parking on 41st, but on a sunny day, you can park further or at one of the side streets for free.

There are some Japanese restaurants in Kerrisdale on the W 41st Ave. Asa Sushi was one of them I often walked past. It is a sushi and raw bar with nice wooden interior and exterior deco. I went here for lunch with a very hungry stomach so I decided to order Lunch Combo C. The combo came with Dynamite Roll (you can choose other rolls), tempura, nigiri sushi, salad, fried gyoza, pickle and miso soup. The portion was large and stomach filling. It costs $15.95 but surely you would get the value for money. The servers are attentive and polite. The tables were cleaned properly after the guests left the table. I will have beer if I come for dinner next time. This is a Japanese restaurant you can have beer and enjoy a good meal with friends after a long day work.

Got take out from them at around 1:00 pm. The wait was around 20 minutes. The portions are on the smaller side but enough to feed you 2-3 people. Their sauces aren't too sweet which I liked. The price is not bad. I had the spicy Salmon roll, salmon Maki, negitoro Maki, spicy tuna roll, Kerrisdale roll and Unagi roll. I wished the Kerrisdale rolls fried shrimp was less battered and more shrimp. My favourite roll was the spicy Salmon roll and my least favourite was the spicy tuna roll and salmon Makis. Tip: call ahead to order as they do get very busy

    1) parking isn't the best but you'll find a way. Kerrisdale area is busy but it is what it is 2) seatings were okay the resto is well placed And cute exterior 3) service was gold. Food came fast. There's literally 3-4 chefs there making the food. Waitress came to table too fast though twice seeking for what to order and it for a bit too rushed 4) the chefs special isn't worth it all. $31 and it's so dinky. I mean it was good taste wise but definitely should of gotten more primo things on the menu and not the set. Very very regretting 5) big menu so get ready to be overwhelmed. Lots of options especially for those trying sushi for the first time 6) them clearing the table was also overwhelming and in the middle of us eating sometimes it's okay to wait 7) very kid friendly the menu 8) I gave a 3 star because if their charging 31$ for a chefs combo - I wish it was better things on it. * maybe give pitcher of water for bigger group (4 and up) so waitress doesn't have to keep coming back *'don't rush customer too much 9) over all decent

This is a solid sushi restaurant . It's small but has some inside dining . The service was prompt and attentive . Food was delicious with fair proportions . Can get a little draft inside during the colder months as the front entrance door can be opening and shutting constantly . But definitely still recommended

    Bento Box with Dynamite Roll

Asa Sushi has been around for a while and it's a great place to go for sushi. Their service is always super quick and has a wide selection of rolls and other hot food options. Their portions and good for the price that you pay. We got a beef bento box with dynamite roll. The tempura was fried perfectly and the beef was flavoured well. Note, it doesn't come with rice for the teriyaki! We also got a california roll (typical) and a Red Dragon Roll. This was shared between a friend and I and there were still a few pieces of sushi left over! Another roll that I enjoy getting is the Crazy Love Combo - which is a Crazy Love Girl and Crazy Love Boy roll. Both rolls are delicious and goes well with each other.

The exterior looks very rundown, and the store sign is somewhat disappearing. Basically, the exterior is not well maintained and if I didn't know about this place i wouldn't even notice its existence. The interior is very basic and lack of decors. They serve delicious Japanese staples such as hamburger, omelette rice, and also Western options such as waffles and sausages. The portion is good and price is also reasonable. Drinks are also yummy. As we entered, it's exactly as others have described - very tiny, homely and quaint. We were seated immediately, were given menu's and instructed to order at the front counter when ready. Once we ordered and paid, the food probably took less than 7 minutes to come out - so quite fast. I tried both the Omu Curry Rice with Pork Cutlet and the Omu Hayashi Rice with Nikomi Hamburger Patty. Both looked very home-cooking style dishes, but in a good way that is very different from what you can find in a Japanese restaurant in Vancouver. Flavours were good, the portion sizes were generous and the prices were reasonable. Staff were very friendly. They made sure so thank us before we went out the door. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I liked the food, and always supportive a hard-working family. I'd come back again.

My hubs and I vacationed in Vancouver a few weeks ago in late April. We had seen the long lines for dinner at Saku when we were here more than a year ago. So, we decided to give them a try for a late lunch around 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon. No wait. We got seated right away. We liked how spacious and airy the dining room was. Our wait staff were friendly and on point. They were considerate about answering our questions about the food and food allergies. I ordered the chicken thigh katsu ($26 Can) and my hubs got the chicken thigh curry ($28.50 Can). No dairy involved in either dish which I was happy about because I have challenges digesting milk protein. Yes, it's kinda pricey. Yes, it's totally worth it. The katsu is light, crispy, fried perfectly, not greasy, and comes with unlimited rice, miso soup, finely chopped cabbage salad, and an addictively delicious sesame dressing. My hubs' curry sauce was served on the side so he could pour out as much or as little as he wanted. All in all, it was a very pleasant and satisfying meal. Saku is top notch for katsu. You won't believe how good katsu can be until you try it.

The whole menu delivers though, from the sashimi to the rolls to the cocktails, all of it beautifully plated without feeling fussy. The space is nice too, took a big group of family here once after an event and they all loved it. And if you're here in the summer ask about the garden patio out back. I made reservations about 4 months in advance. Upon arrival, one of the hostesses opened the door for us, and asked us to wait in a very ornate waiting area. We only waited a couple of minutes before another hostess seated us at the main seating area. The space is very dark, and only lit with candles while the rest of the diners trickled in. During that time they take drink orders, which is limited to sake, wine, beer and a few non-alcoholic drinks. Of note, they don't provide a drink menu, so we were a little surprised by the cost - the yuzu sake and the plum wine were $30 each. My non-alcoholic drink was $12, but a fair size. The theatrical portion started a few minutes later than the official start time - closer to 6pm. The shades lifted, the lights turned on, and the chefs introduced themselves. And from that moment on, they immediately went to work preparing our meal. They operate like clockwork to show the ingredients whole to the diners, and then preparing them, and serving them. Soon as the one dish was completed by all the diners, the next round came shortly after. Over 20+ dishes, there was very little wait time in between each. Each time a dish was served, a hostess was there to describe the dish and provided tips on how best to eat it. The food was overall was very good. I thought a few items were very average, most of them were very good, and a select few were truly outstanding. Most of the ingredients are imported from Japan, so I would imagine that it's part of the reason it's so expensive. This is definitely a splurge meal. I think half the diners at our sitting was celebrating a birthday. On the most part, the food is very good, watching the chefs at work is part of the entertainment, and the service is excellent. Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.
