Great sushi option and price!! The waitress was super friendly and attentive. Service was also fast! If we lived closer, this would definitely be a regular spot for us!

Came here for a couple of date nights and can say this place is such a gem. Super cutty entrance, the kind of place you would walk right by and think nothing of it. the inside opens up to lots of seating in the back behind the sushi bar with a beautiful view of a Japanese garden (not accessible). The staff is super friendly and unbelievably fun, Lily and Kelly will even take shots with you as they share the sake tasting bottles :P Food: we usually order whatever they have on the specials, but something i would order again and again would have to be the Large Hamachi Kama, the romantic roll, toro nigiri topped with uni, and the sake clams! other than that, I leave my night in Lily and Kelly's hands to choose our dinner items that day. The fish is always high quality, and i leave every time with a great dining experience.

I've been to Goemon almost 10 years ago when they first opened but haven't been back since I lived back to the Sunset. I came for the happy hour for dinner. The happy hour menu is pretty extensive actually and there are some good deals if you want izakaya food and cheap drinks. I got the kaki fry ($5 HH), negihama roll, umeshiso roll, negitoro handroll, and some nigiri (salmon belly, scallop, amaebi, and aji). The sushi was all really good. I would not recommend the umeshu cocktail though.

Yum! We got 4 fish rolls, romantic roll, rainbow roll, spicy dragon and jalapeno hamachi roll. And they had a thorough vegetarian menu with lots of rolls! We got two of those and they were delicious as well, great for vegetarians. The only complaint I have is that the cucumber salad came after all the sushi was eaten - even though it would have been nice to have it before or even during the sushi.

Tried and true. Great experience everytime I come. The food is tasty and fresh, service is great, and I never need to wait more than 5 mins to be seated. Love this spot!

This place never misses. There is a wide selection of rolls, sake flights and nigiri. The appetizers are so good and the fish is very fresh. The staff are always so kind and the ambience is very cozy and fun! Definitely my favorite sushi spot in the Sunset.

Tried Sushi Goemon recently and went with the nigiri set. The fish here is undeniably fresh -- clean cuts, great texture, and you can really taste the quality in each piece. Favorites for me were the buttery toro, smoky salmon, and the sweet uni, which all stood out. It did take a little while for the set to arrive, but the staff softened the wait by bringing out complimentary edamame -- a thoughtful touch that made the experience feel more welcoming. Once the sushi hit the table, it was worth the wait. Presentation was elegant without being over the top, and everything tasted as good as it looked. Prices were fair for the quality -- not bargain sushi by any means, but very reasonable given the freshness and variety. Overall, Sushi Goemon is one of those spots that feels like a hidden gem -- patient service, high-quality fish, and the kind of care that makes you want to come back. Definitely a place I'd recommend for anyone looking for sushi that balances quality with value.

Salmon citrus and salmon lover roll

Came here for dinner the other night for the first time and was really impressed. We ordered miso soup, house salad with yuzu dressing, caterpillar roll, salmon lover roll, salmon citrus roll and the tropical roll. Everything tasted so fresh! Salad mix had a nice crunch, the cherry tomatoes were nice and plump, the avocado was ripe. All the rolls had a nice presentation and was a good ratio of toppings and rice. The fish was really fresh too. I also appreciate that they give both regular and fresh wasabi along with the ginger. It was not that busy when we were there but service was great. They were very attentive and kind. I definitely have to come back to try the omakase. This might be my new favorite sushi spot!

Don't get fooled by the small entrance. They have a spacious dinning area and even a small garden in the back (not sure if you can eat there, it seemed closed off). Had a couple sushi rolls and they were delicious. Polite service, no complains! Will definitely come back again to try some of their other dishes.

Service & ambiance: 5/5 Found this spot just by walking around my neighborhood of inner sunset I was originally looking for the happy hour, but sadly they did not have it for labor day I instead opted to get a roll to satisfy my sushi craving. Walking in I was greeted nicely and the ambiance sent me back to my days in Japan. The sushi bar was a fun spot and the backyard had a nice tranquil garden. The food: 3/5 I got the seared salmon roll . It was pretty good but nothing spectacular. I did witness them prep the roll with effort and efficiency. They are clearly experienced! Overall, I would come again. Hoping to come on a day with happy hour!

    Alicia T.

I'm so surprised we haven't been here sooner. Nestled in a cute little nook of the inner sunset, we found the sushi to be top quality and delicious! The waitress was attentive and kind, we will definitely be making this a new regular spot we go to!

I thought the place was good. A bit pricey but still good. The wait staff were nice and very attentive. A few of our group have been here multiple times. Felt like the rolls were pretty tiny, but other than that everything else was great!

    Salmon Lover Roll ~ $15.95

The sushi at Sushi Goeman was 5 stars! The hamachi truffle appetizer was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The 15 piece sashimi was really good too. It came with 5 different types of fish - salmon, yellowtail, kanpachi, halibut, plus we were upgraded to chu toro instead of blue fin tuna. I loved the chu toro, salmon, and yellowtail. The halibut was okay, not my fav, but not bad. The Romantic Roll had blue fin tuna and asparagus, topped with seared toro and truffle ponzu sauce. This was the best roll on the menu! The Salmon Lover Roll was another winner and came with seared salmon both inside and on top of the roll. The roll also had avocado, cucumber, scallions, and bonito. All of the food tasted excellent! They even had real fresh wasabi (although not a lot) plus the paste wasabi. Service was not bad, but not perfect. Service was a bit slow, unattentive, plus we were never given the miso soup that we ordered. We came during dinner time and luckily, there was no wait for a table. The restaurant looked small from the outside, but the main dining room was all the way at the back of building and it was really dark. What was really obnoxious was that there was another party in the restaurant that was drunk, loud, and rowdy. The staff even turned off the lights once while we were eating. I rated Sushi Goemon 5 stars based on the great sushi I had...not so much for service and ambiance.

What we ordered: + San Ten Mori (assorted sashimi) [4/5]: The highlight of our meal was the yuzu wasabi that came with the salmon + amberjack in this set. It was sooo delicious and spicy. The fish were plated beautifully, and the quality was pretty good. + Shungiku Kama Sarada (chrysanthemum greens & duck breast) [6/5 - would recommend]: WOW. I was so pleasantly surprised by how fresh, crunchy, and acidic this salad was. The greens are amazing. On top of that, the duck breast was so tender and delicious-- I just wish the dish came with a few more slices. + Chicken Oyster [4/5]: I really loved how juicy this was. I normally don't like chicken because of how dry it is, but this was a great skewer. I wish the skin was a little less burnt. The chicken was also so thick that while the outside was juicy, the inside was a little drier. + King Trumpet [4/5]: Wow! These looked amazing when they arrived. I thought the flavor was great but the texture was a bit rubbery. + Kama Tama Udon (carbonara) [4.5/5]: Delicious! I couldn't stop eating this udon slathered in amazing thick sauce. + Chiizu Tori Katsu [4/5]: This was sooo good. I wish the cheese ratio was 3x as much, but the flavor and tenderness of the katsu is delicious. Huge props to Rintaro; my Resy reservation was initially cancelled due to an accident in booking, but the staff was so friendly and went above & beyond to help me get my reservation reinstated at a similar time.

The smells are incredible from smokey fish as they sear the final touches with a blow torch, to the sizzling goodness from the yakitori grill. The place fills up around 6pm so arriving ahead of that will save you a wait. They don't take reservations, so first come first served. The ordering experience is really smooth. Everything is done through an iPad at your table and the food comes out to you. They won't let you place a new order until your previous one has been delivered, which honestly is a smart system and helps with pacing so you don't over order right out of the gate. What sets this place apart from other AYCE spots is the variety. It's not just sushi. You can also order appetizers, salmon, teriyaki chicken and more, so there's something for people who want to mix it up beyond rolls. Delicious, easy, affordable and in the neighborhood. Wish it had a bit more torching and cheese, but still delicious - Rainbow Roll -- smaller-sized roll topped with salmon, tuna, shrimp, and avocado - Dragon Roll -- classic unagi and avocado combo; can't go wrong here - Double Salmon Roll -- salmon both inside and on top with a light lemon garnish - Heaven Roll -- tuna-heavy roll inside and out; great for tuna lovers - Bay Bridge Roll -- another standout; tuna and avocado topped with roe and white sauce - Miso Soup -- simple and comforting - Salmon Avocado Roll -- classic fresh combo with cucumber added for crunch - Nigiri (seared salmon, unagi, baby scallop, salmon avocado) -- probably the best quality items overall; loved the fatty scallop and seared salmon - Mixed Greens Salad -- underrated side with a sesame-ranch style dressing - Yammy Yammy Roll -- spicy tuna and seared tuna topped with spicy mayo and unagi sauce - Hamachi Kama -- thinner cut than expected but still buttery and tender There was no wait on a Friday night and our party was seated immediately. The restaurant has tables in both the front dining area and a quieter back section that feels more private. You order through a tablet attached to the table, which also tracks your remaining AYCE time. Service was extremely efficient and dishes came out surprisingly fast. Some items stood out more than others, but overall we definitely got our money's worth. For around $50 including tax and tip, it's a pretty reasonable AYCE sushi option in SF.

We got the omakase, which was massive and had 18 courses. They gave us a menu so we knew what to expect for each course, and we ordered some sake.
