Must-visit place! I absolutely love the vibes here, it's such a cozy and comfortable space to work during the day. I visited on a weekday during their cafe hours and it was perfect. You must try the Matcha Einspanner if you're a matcha lover. I honestly want another one right now as I'm writing this review. I can't wait to come back again to try more of their café drinks. Everything is so good and perfectly balanced, and the sweet cream is absolutely amazing. The kinako powder on top is the perfect combination. The bathroom is also super clean and spacious, which is always a plus. I've also booked dinner over the weekend and I'm really excited to try their dinner menu soon!

If you've been to Angel Share in NYC, Shoji carries a strong resemblance. It's a classy joint but the bass from the music echoes throughout the place. It gets busy fast and there was a bit of a queue even though we had a reservation. The pricing feels steep; in some ways, I was transported back to Manhattan and Manhattan city prices! I ordered the Noguchi which has A5 wagyu washed Japanese whiskey. It's a smoky drink and is obviously spirit forward but reminded me of a toned down Manhattan. It's a cool spot but don't think I'm in a rush to go back.

Finally checked this place off my bucket list! Just a tip: they only serve drinks in the morning, and food service starts at 4 PM. Of course I had to get the famous Matcha Einspänner, and let's just say it absolutely lives up to the hype. The matcha tastes authentic and rich, while the einspänner cream is barely sweet, which I really appreciated. The kinako powder on top was such a nice touch and tied everything together perfectly. The atmosphere is also really lovely. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and the whole space feels calm and inviting. Tip: Parking isn't easy around this area. There's a nearby garage at 101 Second Street that was only $3 for the first hour.

Came here after visiting the museum as it was only a 5min walk away. This place is a coffee shop by day and a restaurant by night. This place received an award for their matcha drinks. Matcha Einspanner (5/5): It was a bit thick for my liking, but I thought the flavor was great. It was earthy and subtle. The kinkao powder added nice hard texture and sweetness to the the drink. I thought it wasn't too special but I would love to try their restaurant

This was my top dining experience in San Francisco, and I would HIGHLY recommend everybody to come here! I took my two friends here for a birthday celebration, and it was so magnificent.  It looks very unassuming from the host stand, but you are transported into a beautiful dining area as you are ushered in. Lush velvet booths, a beautiful mural behind a magnificent bar top, and even perfect table ware!! I love when restaurants pay attention to details. Everything I ordered was delicious. The oysters, uni amaebi donburi (Sea Urchin & Raw Shrimp Rice Bowl), Tom Kha Ceviche, and the chicken egg salad sandwich. The bites were truly so decadent, balanced, and well-executed. The oysters were fresh, plump, and perfectly topped with sweet and citrusy flavors. The bite of the night was the uni amaebi bowl. They load you up on sea urchin, shrimp, and roe. It is bursting with flavor, and paired with PERFECTLY COOKED RICE.  The drinks were also amazing! I got the matcha cocktail and the espresso martini. I mean... phenomenal. Everyone wants to do a matcha cocktail, but I don't think a single bar program is going to put one out as perfect as Shoji's. It's delicate and earthy, and the perfect drink to pair with their menu.  Dessert was also good! Tea-based affogatos. They're fun. Ugh, I want to live in SF just so I can frequent Shoji. I will be back for dinner and to try their day time cafe. Get a reservation if you can, it is so worth it!

One of the most popular/hyped hot spots in the bay area at the moment, known for their cafe in the daytime and their bar at night. Sultry date night ambience and outdoor covered warm seating for dinner. Booked a res for two and ordered: - garlic edamame: um surprisingly addictive! So flavorful and I neverrr order edamame - french fries with melted cheese, crispy chicken cracklings, herb ranch: kinda drunk food but the herb ranch really elevates, standout item for us, perfectly balanced but not too greasy - shoji burger: tableside prep is unnecessary but I understand they want to add that wow factor, good but didn't blow me away considering I always see this item on social media. Chili's adjacent. Also they don't give you a knife and weren't attentive so we couldn't even ask for one - hojicha affogato: so yummy not too sweet but wish there was more ice cream (kind of a cop out) - miyabi: their french 75, yum, strong - kohaku: woooo thats liquor Overall, the food was a solid 8/10 for me. Didn't have an item that would make me come back specifically for it. The fries are a sleeper item and the must-have/standout of the night. Their drinks are strongggg and rly good quality. Didn't think the service was great, wasn't checked up on often. Was only checked up on like twice in two hours which was annoying when we needed things. Down to come back for the vibes or if a friend wants to go bc of all the hype, but probably wouldn't go back on my own.

Been to shoji soooo many times I can't count with my hands but let's just say it's so good that if I had a penny for every cent I rave about their drinks.... Maybe I can live inside shoji haha. Great vibes, great service, beautiful bar-esque luxe space with outdoor patio space as shoji is a bar at night! A lot of people like to do their work here on weekdays so just be warned it may or not be busy! My most recent trip is on a weekend so it wasn't as busy. They recently started offering dinner service as well so I'll check it out one day to celebrate. Viral last year for their matcha einspanner is an ice creamy dreamy ish concoction with high quality matcha served beautifully. You can opt to get it to go but you won't see the beauty of their drinks! Another drink worth mentioning is their yuzu coffee. Tangy, tart, nutty goodness. Sure to give you a boost of energy in the morning :)

Came for the fondue burger and it did not disappoint! The drinks were very yummy and so was the ceviche. Loved the vibe as well! The bar tender and servers made sure we were well taken care of. Would def come back but make sure to make a reservation! And a seat at the bar is better unless you're with a bigger group.

The atmosphere is great lots of seating Japanese style food. The chicken wings are really tasty and they even have mock tails for people who can't drink. We'll definitely come back.

Party of 3 walked in on a Wednesday night, and the friendly hostess told us the wait was around 20- 30 minutes. I got a text 20 minutes later- amazing! Ambiance was fun, relaxed, and boogie all mixed into one cool vibe. All the servers were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They seem to all work in unison. We ordered oysters, sandos, burger, cervices and fries. All were delicious and creative. We totally enjoyed our evening :)

Delicious!!!! Best matcha in soma. And being at a conference this week, I've tried all the walkable matchas in the area. The baristas are super sweet. Bella made our iced and hot matchas and they're beautiful as well as delicious. Great ratio. The ambiance is cozy, comfortable, and relaxing. Would love to check out their dinner menu one day!

I've only been here in the daytime for their cafe drinks but I LOVE IT. The vibes are top tier inside and out. I've sat outside on the patio and inside in the booths, and I enjoyed both experiences! The matcha einspanner is DIVINEEE i wanted to go back the next day and get this drink again! They were playing Frank sinatra the day we sat inside and so it was great vibes all around. I haven't been here for dinner but my friends have and they LOVED it so i will need to try it next time i'm in the city!

Excellent vibes and lives up to the hype. I've been seeing this place all over social media and finally had to check it out. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere is great. The space is intimate with upbeat music that is not too loud. There is also a projector showing scenes of city life in Japan on the wall, which adds a really nice touch. They were quite busy, but our server checked in often and was apologetic about the wait. Food-- *Kombu celery: I did not know celery could be prepared to taste this flavorful. Very fresh and bright. *French fries with melted cheese: A great bar snack. *Pork jowl: Incredibly tender and not overly fatty. *Tori nanban sando: The milk bread is so soft and the sandwich was loaded with crispy fried chicken. We shared it between two people and it was a great portion. *Matcha affogato: The strawberry paired nicely with the vanilla gelato. I do wish the gelato had been matcha to bring out more of the matcha flavor, but it was still a good dessert. Drinks-- *Noguchii: Japanese whiskey paired well with the black sugar and had a slightly smoky flavor. *Kohaku: The matcha flavor came through really well and was blended smoothly. It made me interested in coming back during the daytime to try more of their matcha drinks. I recommend this if you like matcha forward flavors. Great spot for a date night or a fun night out with friends. I would order the french fries, tori nanban sando, and the Kohaku again. It is a bit on the pricey side, but the quality of the dishes is there. Interesting in trying the uni bowl in the future!

I was craving a refreshing craft cocktail and got one with the Green Emmanuelle. I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

It takes a lot for me to consider a return visit to a cocktail bar. Most of the time, I just begrudgingly go along with my friends to a mediocre bar, but Blind Pig is a place I would enthusiastically return to again and again. I first got the namesake cocktail: Blind Pig. It was incredibly well-balanced, and the flame presentation upon arrival was an epic mini show. Later during last call, I decided to risk it all and roll the dice to order from the secret menu. I rolled a 5, which got me a wine & Japanese beer concoction with Sichuan peppercorn. Totally feel like this cocktail was made for me, as I rep the 川渝 region. The drink was strong, but that made it all the better.
