Wow....walk away sushi... No seats. Just to-go Fresh hamachi Tasty unagi I am in effing heaven! Open one on my side of the park, buddy. Ambiance is to go. Bruh.... Clean Friendly owner/sushi chef. Bottom line - good Sushi. I had nigiris to go. One order is 3 pieces, my friends....not 1 Not 2, But three pieces!!! JYW highly recommends! Tell Taka the sushi chef hello He used to own and operate in Japantown for a couple of decades !

What do you do before going to the dentist? You treat yourself to a "nice" meal...in the fog...chasing after napkins and containers being flown away by the wind. Because that's SF's summer for you! At least, you get your squats in while eating, or trying to! The city is saturated by sushi restos but what stood out to me about Oishinbo Sushi is I read that is Japanese owned and operated which is a unicorn these days. Opening in January 2023, Oishinbo Sushi is a sushi takeout operation. No delivery. There's a cute public parklet in front where you can enjoy your meal onsite. M E N U Sashimi, nigiri, donburi, maki rolls, American sushi rolls, and salads. Very limited fish selection: sake (salmon), hamachi (yellowtail), maguro (tuna), and unagi (eel). They sometimes have daily specials but there were none on the day I visited. O R D E R I N G You can order ahead online or by phone. There's one kiosk inside for in-person orders. Since I was on a time crunch, I called in my order (online ordering was not working) and it was ready by the time I arrived (15 minutes). F O O D * Chirashi w/ hamachi, maguro, sake ($27): https://tinyurl.com/3r4rh9vf The bed of sushi rice was well-seasoned with the proper room temperature. A tad too sticky since there were clumps but otherwise pretty solid. It was topped a mix of hamachi (yellowtail), maguro (tuna), and sake (salmon)...12 pieces total. The maguro and the sake were the standouts - uber fresh, smooth, and buttery in texture. Served with pickled yellow radish (crunchy+acidic), shredded daikon (soapy taste), a shiso leaf (wilted), pickled ginger, and wasabi. Def recommend asking for more wasabi, as there wasn't enough. The accompanying bowl of miso soup was solid - hot, comforting, and not overly salty. It was chockfull of silken tofu and wakame. * Unagi & Avocado Hand Roll ($8): https://tinyurl.com/ys8bnkhw Considering this was made when I arrived and I ate the hand roll asap outside, it was disappointing. The unagi was dry and overbaked, and the hand roll itself was sloppily prepared. The bottom portion of the rice was drenched in unagi sauce and the nori was very soggy and chewy. S E R V I C E All business and prompt. A M B I A N C E Minimalist takeout operation. P A R K I N G Difficult street and metered parking during peak hours. Overall, Oishinbo Sushi is a good option for takeout sushi if you live in the area....or if you're going to the dentist nearby. OFC, you gotta hit up Genki Crepes afterwards!

If you're literally on the go, or even if you're not, you will be since this place doesn't have any seating LOL. Your only option is to go, LOL. Oishinbo roll which has crab and eel and avocado was really good. I really like the real crab meat and the sauces. This was legit sushi and I was happy to have stumbled upon this place. They have daily specials, and their crab roll and their cucumber roll was the special today which was $4 off for the two rolls. The quality was good and this is a great addition to Clement street for all you sushi lovers out there!

tldr; super fresh fish, reasonable prices! takeout or eat at the parklet in front. price: ~$15 Oishinbo Sushi is a casual spot in the Richmond that's easy to miss but shouldn't be. You order at the giant kiosk in the store, and it took us less than ten minutes for us to get our order. - Hamachi, salmon, tuna donburi: Came with yellow radish, a generous dollop of wasabi, pickled ginger, and plenty of fresh fish on a bed of well-seasoned sushi rice. Every component tasted fresh and perfect. I don't think I normally think about the freshness of fish when I do similar dishes at other restaurants normally, but freshness really came to mind when I was eating this bowl. Would definitely come back to try their specialty rolls -- we also found that this place is conveniently available on Doordash. :)

Stopped by here mid bike ride and it was fantastic. You hardly ever find good casual sushi at a decent price these days and this chef executed. Reminds me of what you think Japan would be like but it's not. Fish is fresh, chef doesn't speak English, no frills, and simple. I love it!

Dragon roll, hamachi nigiri, salmon lover and Hamachi Jalapeno Roll

So glad we found this place! Everything was so fresh n delicious! Love that it's not drenched in sauce. Will definitely be back for the hamachi jalapeños n salmon lover rolls again!!!

Loveeee this spot!! We've ordered both delivery and eaten at the parklet right outside of the restaurant several times. Service is friendly and efficient. The fish is really fresh - salmon don bowl is one of our go-to orders as well as the salmon avocado and spicy scallop maki roll. Highly recommend!

Been here a couple of times already and the service never failed. Even came here during the Cherry Blossom Festival and the staff were still friendly / accommodating. They even put a spicy sauce on the side of one of the katsu plates when we mentioned that my dad couldn't handle all that haha. This cozy spot mainly focuses on katsu plates, but I like how they had off menu or specials to choose from if you'd like another option. I will say though them katsu plates were just chef's kiss. The meat is pounded thin enough where it's still juicy and tender, but doesn't affect the exterior from being crunchy and a bit flaky. Nothing was dry here yallll! I also like how it already comes with miso soup and salad. Huge fan of that Hamachi Truffle special though. Think of a citrusy flavor from the ponzu, fresh fish, a bit of micro greens, and a thin slice of jalapeño that just ~works~ on a cute wooden spoon that you want to steal I could honestly eat like 5 spoons of this. I'd skip on the calamari as it was kind of skimpy to share with a large group. Only note was that their fried katsu curry was a bit underwhelming with having more slices of carrots than potato! Would love to come back if I am ever in the area.

The restaurant can be a little hidden, but it's pretty easy to find with the instructions they send before your reservation. It's located above Fermentation Lab. Just head up the stairs and you'll find it inside the old Ichi Pub space. The restaurant is small and intimate, with only 9 seats at the counter. When you arrive, walk through the Yuji curtain and check in directly with the chef since there is no host. My biggest concern with set menus is always whether I'll feel satisfied and full afterward, but that was definitely not an issue here. My husband and I were both very satisfied after the meal. Every dish was delicious, and you could really taste the quality of each ingredient. Highlights for me were the bluefin sashimi, which was so buttery and soft that it literally melted in your mouth. The skillfish was rich and decadent, and the citrus and ginger balanced the flavors. The fried fish was another favorite as it reminded me of the savory Japanese rice crackers I loved growing up. Since it's located in Japantown, parking can be challenging. We had to loop around several times looking for street parking and even had two cars take spots we were waiting for, so definitely give yourself extra time before your reservation. I would highly recommend this place! The chef changes the menu periodically based on what's in season, so it's a great excuse to come back and try something new in the future. The location is unusual, as the restaurant is open to the mall, which is a bit disruptive. I came for the 8:30pm seating, but the previous guests were still finishing, so I had to wait until 8:45pm. The staff did not seem very concerned. Bad start. You could also hear the mall cleaning crew during dinner, which was not very pleasant. I ordered the 24-item Mizuho Menu, as did all the other guests. There were 5 guests in total (the restaurant can seat up to 8 people). Here is the menu I was served at the end of May: 1. starter: ama ebi cracker with caviar, pickled lotus root with shaved bonito, crab salad 2. nigiri 4x: isaki, iwana, myabi tai, kanpachi 3. sashimi: chutoro, hotate with caviar, umi masu, sawada 4. nigiri 8x: hirame, suzuki, inada, kurodai, shima aji, kamasu, otoro, aged A5 wagyu, kinmedai 5. hot dish: miso soup with inari and shrimp head, hokkaido uni with marinated ikura, black cod, umi masu with raw yellow egg and caviar 6. dessert: matcha ice cream with strawberry Frankly, the food was excellent. The starter was not very creative, but the nigiri were great. The sashimi selection was very nice, with some fish you do not see as often in omakase menus, such as isaki, iwana, and myabi tai, a kind of tai. Sawada was delicious and is always a good inclusion. We asked for some wasabi and received a small cup of kizami wasabi, a chopped wasabi with a slightly crunchy texture, which was a nice touch. For the nigiri, all the classics of a good omakase were present: otoro, kinmedai, shima aji, uni, hotate, and wagyu. Kamasu was also included, and it is one of my favorite fish. It is also worth noting that they age both their beef and their tuna, including the otoro that was served. A few pieces were torched, maybe a few too many. Overall, the service was not memorable, although chef Ron Au was friendly and nice. The place itself felt a bit questionable, and my expectations were not very high after the beginning of the meal.
