Moved to Baltimore for a 6 week long school/work placement, and like every new city, I have to find a new go to sushi delivery spot. I've ordered from here now twice, and I have to say, I'm glad that I have found my sushi delivery place while in Baltimore! First time I got the sushi, sashimi, & salmon avocado roll combo dinner, which came with a very generous portion of miso soup and a very small (soy sauce container sized) seaweed salad. I would have NEVER believed that such fresh fish for the sashimi and nigiri could come from a delivery sushi restaurant! The portions were generous, with a good rice to fish ratio for the rolls and nigiri. The salmon sashimi melted in my mouth like butter, leaving the perfect mouth taste and feel. A sort of "sushi was here." sort of parting message, if you will. The second time was not quite as successful, but that was more my fault for poor ordering. I got the Ebi Tempura maki under the specialty roll section, thinking it would be some variation of a shrimp tempura roll made even tastier. What I got was a a large, futomaki-sized roll with steamed shrimp, cream cheese and lettuce on the inside, the whole roll was tempura flash fried, and spicy mayo with eel sauce was drizzled on top. Had I know that this is what was inside the roll, I wouldn't have gotten it. Perhaps a great option for individuals who are trying out sushi for the first time and prefer cooked rolls rather than the ones with raw fish, or those who prefer a more "Americanized" sushi experience. It probably tastes better when ordered in the restaurant rather than delivered as well, but it was not my cup of tea. I will say, however, that the tempura was perfectly coated, not too thin or too thick, with a great crunch and flavor. The other roll I got was the Tokyo roll, which all but redeemed my poor ordering skills w/ the Ebi tempura roll. It was SO. GOOD. Crunchy tempura flakes mixed with spicy salmon inside and rainbow roll-style raw salmon, avocado, tuna and flying fish roe on top. Great crunchy inside with a bite from the spicy combo, and that buttery finish with the pieces of fish and avocado on top. I recommend this place HIGHLY, esp for the nigiri, sashimi, and more raw-fish fare. read more

Great place for some quick sushi that is pretty inexpensive. They've got some great lunch and combo deals for multiple rolls. The quality of the roll was pretty mediocre. I got the philli roll and spicy salmon combo along with a tuna hand roll and the Tiger Maki roll. I thought the tiger maki would have real shredded crab but it was just pulled apart imitation crab. Fish quality was okay. $27 I feel was a good price for these 4 rolls. read more

MY GO TO. I love Sushi Ichiban and have been going back weekly/monthly ever since discovering it. All roles that I've tried are unreal and have never failed. I will say though, for being such a loyal customer, it would be nice to get some sort of rewards card or at least a free spicy mayo on the side... but I do find myself returning whenever possible anyway. read more

Ordered a volcano roll with spicy tuna, the hot and sour soup, and sesame chicken (white meat). The food was delivered in a short time, way shorter than what was stated - very happy about that. The sushi was in a separate bag from the hot foods and maintained its temperature pretty well through delivery. Wasabi was mild and ginger was pretty low grade / obviously not fresh. Sushi was decent if you take into account I wasn't sitting at the sushi bar. The sesame chicken was actually an orange chicken that was covered in sesame seeds (this was odd to me). MY GUESSES are that the restaurant changed the standard "westernized" recipe for Sesame Chicken or the cook accidentally covered my dish in the orange chicken marinade, didn't care enough to prepare a new order, sprinkled sesame seeds on it and boxed it up for delivery. At least, it was all white meat. Soup was average. I'd order it again. read more

There are sushi restaurants galore in my area and I have tried them all from $ to $$$$, none can compare to Sushi Ichiban. I'm not sushi'd out! It's not happening! I love sushi too much. Sorry! I just wish this one was better because the woman on the phone was soooo nice and sweet. A little frantic because the phone was going off like crazy, but she got her job done. Poor thing. lol We stopped by one day looking for sushi. We thought it'd be a sit down kind of place... and it is, but isn't at the same time. No tables. Just counters and chairs. Not what we were looking for, so we headed over to Sushi Hana instead. We apologize for being rude. Tonight, my roomie and I ordered a platter of 28 pieces of sushi for $30. We can't beat that price. Scored some passion fruit bubble tea and a lychee Ramune, too. The sushi was okay. I wasn't feeling the tako roll. It was super chewy and bitter. Also, there was some unidentifiable white fish that was heavily marinated in vinegar. I suspect this might have happened because the fish was getting too fishy and they needed something to mask the scent. The salmon and tuna were great. My teeth slid right through the meat and left a good mouthfeel, smell, and taste. It was tender, but I could still feel the grain against my teeth. Almost perfection. The veggie rolls were veggie rolls. A-Okay. The part that really disappointed me was the bubble tea. It barely tasted like passion fruit. Just a hint of the flavour and that's it. The tapioca pearls were horrible. They were hard as a rock. Not.Chewy.At.All. I got through half of it and trashed the rest. Do I feel like our dinner was worth $41 plus tip? I have ordered from here a couple times while staying in Towson. I am always satisfied and typically order so much that I have sushi for the next day. One weekend I was staying out of town and placed an order not realizing the address was quite similar but in a town 25 mins away. As soon as I noticed I contacted the restaurant and they said it was no problem to deliver it! I was shocked and beyond surprised to receive such great service on a busy Friday night. Sushi Ichiban is not going to be your destination sushi restaurant, but then again, it's not supposed to be. The restaurant is intended to provide carryout sushi (and other types of Asian cuisine) at affordable prices, with acceptable quality. The quality of the fish and other ingredients doesn't stack up to other local sushi joints but it isn't horrible either. The star attribute here are the prices. The menu offers a large variety of sushi at very cheap prices, as well as discounts on combo meals involving several rolls. When I got carryout from here I ordered a combination meal that offered a California roll and a salmon roll for something like $8.00. I also ordered an additional eel and avocado roll just to ensure I would be full. My total cam to around $13 for the three rolls which is essentially unheard of. All the rolls were pretty good and nothing tasted overly fishy. All in all, if you're looking for a quick sushi fix, Sushi Ichiban is your place. If you are looking to have a nice sit down sushi meal in Towson I recommend you go to The Orient or Sushihana. read more

I love this place. Whenever I order delivery they arrive sooner than the estimated time and my order is always correct. I also love the combination meal prices for dinner because most of them are about $6.99 a piece. The highlight though is that whenever I enter the restaurant the lady upfront always recognizes me and asks me how I'm doing and if I just got off work (I usually go in after my shift is done). Overall the establishment itself is located in a small unit, however don't let that deter you from enjoying a well priced Asian meal. read more

I did not get sushi here. I got teriyaki chicken but let me say. It was excellent! Very far from the gross typical Asian/"Chinese" food. Probably the best in the area! Definitely go here. Super hole in the wall but probably healthier for you than panera bread next door. I had the yellow curry chicken with white rice. This dish was so delicious and fulfilling. The only issue I had that it wasn't enough chicken. It was more onions and carrots more than anything. Yikes, I made the mistake of wanting to try something from here other than their sushi. I ordered the chicken drunken noodles and wow they were worse than imaginable. I ordered shrimp dumplings, lobster tempura maki, and diamond maki for pickup. They were quick and called to let me know when the order was ready. Shrimp dumplings are perfectly steamed, good amount of shrimp and nice flavor to them. Where they went wrong is that the lobster tempura maki is supposed to have lobster, real crab meat, spicy tuna, and salmon fish on top according to their online menu. It does not. I'm going to post a picture that shows it is just lobster and cream cheese deep fried and drizzled in their sauce. Sooooooo disappointing. It tastes ok but not what I wanted. The diamond maki is what the description says it is but the white tuna does not taste fresh. So all in all, they get one star for the dumplings and another star for being quick. My experience was just unfortunate. Purchased through Order Up, timely service check. However, I order the Korean Seafood Pot with Kimchi, and it was bad enough that I couldn't finish it. I understand this is a carryout and I shouldn't set my expectations that high. But for 10.95 I would like to have kimchi, not a morsel of what looked like fermented seaweed. The Pot was mostly tofu and artificial lobster. What a letdown. I understand most Americans do not know what Korean food taste like or even really like the real flavors of Chinese and Japanese cuisines but c'mon. I ordered from here all the time when I went to college near there and I will say they never let me down whenever I ordered. I did order a variety of things such as, different types of sushi, (which were absolutely delicious and a great size for price) Chinese food like chicken lo mein, bourbon chicken, shrimp fried rice, ribs, French fries (bomb), and other types as well! I went there so often that one time I accidentally ordered chicken chow mein instead of lo mein and they called me to make sure I ordered (online) the correct one and when I told them I chose the wrong one by accident they said not a problem and made sure to give me the right one. They are super friendly and great with times (personally for me). Everything I ordered from there was tasty and fresh in my opinion. I'm so sad I don't live near the area anymore because I would order from them all of the time still. I 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for good sushi and good Chinese food! Honestly the best sushi I've ever had - and I am so lucky that I live not far from hidden gem! I usually get takeout, but I've eaten in twice and have had a great experience each time. In terms of it being small/crowded, yeah - you should definitely put into consideration that if you go during peak dinner hours, you're going to have to wait. It's a teeny tiny place, but it's worth it. I recommend going when they open, or avoid peak hours, if possible If waiting is going to be an issue, just order takeout . The sushi itself, though - oh man. It's always fresh, and light, and never has a weird taste to it. The avocado is always ripe and soft, but not brown. And usually sushi doesn't fill me up - but Ichiban leaves me feeling totally satisfied (but also usually ready to sleep, via sushi coma). The price of their sushi and Asian fusion food is very reasonable .You will be surprise about the price and the good food you can ever had You won't be disappointed if you come with an open mind if you work around it, you will be SO happy you did. read more

Sushi-- Really really poor quality. I ordered the sushi platter combo w the California roll. The fish reeks and gamy in texture. I cannot choke it down and do not wish it on my worst enemy. My husband and I have ordered delivery from them a bunch of times. Husband always gets one of two things (chicken fried rice or sesame chicken), but I don't think I've ever gotten the same thing twice. And I've never been disappointed. The Pad Thai is spicy/sweet/salty perfection, the beef udon is hearty, delicious comfort food, the sushi is always just right, and the seafood dishes don't shrimp (see what I did there?!) on using big, fresh morsels.
