We called for same day reservation and we were lucky to get a counter seats for three. I was skeptical at first because I'm not a fan of raw sushi and usually most sushi restaurant serve only that. But I was surprised to see other none sushi entrees. I really enjoyed their Hamachi Kama, sauteed mushroom, fresh oysters, and Miso butterfish. They were all good. I also liked the atmosphere for variety of diners if you know what I mean. Sometimes, sushi only restaurant can be intimidating. Sushi chefs were also friendly and the servers. I noticed lots of visitors and residents. If you have a big group, this might be good option but do call in advance. I've been wanting to try Sushi ii for yearssss now but just haven't gotten to do so. So when the perfect opportunity came up, I decided now's the time! I booked a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday because the both of us have never been here before. And it definitely was a good decision. He ordered the crispy shrimp, crab nigiri with kani miso, and amaebi nigiri and it came with the miso soup with the head of the shrimp. And we both got the same sushi sets. It came with all the good stuff and good amount! Everything tasted so fresh and very good. The uni and the ika were my favorite nigiri's on the platter! When we got there we were able to choose where we wanted to sit because it wasn't so crowded. So we chose to sit in the side room which was nice because there was only one other couple there so we didn't have to sit so close to people and could have our own conversations peacefully lol I'm so glad we got to try Sushi ii and hope to be back again sometime. read more

Came here for a dinner date with my hubs, sitting at the counter. We didn't do omakase as there isn't officially one like some other restaurants. It's pretty much you sit down and the chef would serve you sushi until you say stop, and our server said it's roughly about $10 a piece. Since it's our first time here, and they have an extensive menu, we decided to go for the assorted sushi with maki plate to try it out first before we potentially commit to an omakase next time. We had about 10 pieces of nigiri and 10 pieces of tuna maki. Thats a lot of food for the price actually! (Lots of rice) the nigiri that stood out to us was the ika, eel, akami, hamachi, botan shrimp. The ika was not chewy at all. So smooth and a pleasant. And omg we both normally don't like eel but that piece was perfectly charred with slight crisps on the edge! It might be the best eel nigiri I've had. Their akami was really fresh, even though it's not my favorite. Hamachi and botan shrimp was of good quality as well! Some disappointments though - Chutoro was a tad bit stringy, and the salmon was close to abysmal. It didn't taste fatty or fresh at all. Not good quality. We also got some small apps before our sushi plate. The deep fried baby octopus could've been better. It's on the chewy side. Baby octopus is a hit or miss really. When it's good it's really good. I love how they had ankimo. The sauce and the shredded daikon and shiso leaf went really well together. I devoured the whole plate. Overall it's a pleasant meal and we had a great evening. Not everyone sat at the bar. Groups were sitting at tables. Parking gets better when you go inside the lot, away from the narrow lane of the entrance/exit of the lot. Located in the most kamikaze pkg lot on keeaumoku, only cuz it shares pkg with other businesses mostly restaurants. this place is a gem for drinks and pupus. The food is always fresh and tasty with a nice array of choices. I actually never had anything yet that was sub par. I do love the Kama cuz it comes with tsuri daikon. Delicious little gem tucked away at a small plaza. Tried the chef omakase which is basically customizable to how many pieces of nigiri sushi that your heart desires roughly $10/piece. They come 4 pieces at a time. Quite full already after 8 pieces but forgot to stop the chef and I was greedy for uni so ended up eating 15 pieces. Haha Super fresh raw fish especially the Australian langostino (small lobster) and Kinki fish and house marinated ikura. This is a very small restaurant buried in a strip mall. It can be a challenge to find, but worth it to come. While this is not my favorite sushi place on the island, but it very good and highly recommend to come. My tip would be to order your sushi in waves so that the fish does not warm up. I ordered the sushi platter and was savoring a bit too long and some of the fish did not taste as fresh at the end. I recommend making reservations and sitting at the sushi bar. Appetizers: fried baby octopus were crunchy and full of flavor and highly recommend. The medley of mushrooms were delicious! The flavor profile on the mushrooms were unlike anything I ate before. Sushi: ordered the sushi platter and it was gorgeous! The fish portions are quite generous and the textures. I was also able to ask for some sushi to be removed. Ok, I see the 5 star reviews and SUSHI ii did NOT disappoint. Ever since my husband & I splurged on Michelin star omakase sushi hasn't been the same, but Sushi ii is just as amazing and def didn't burn the wallet too hard. Parking was a bit challenging since the restaurant is in a tiny strip. There are a lot of restaurants around that looked appealing that I'd like to try in the future. I wonder how businesses around here survive since there's barely any parking to accommodate hungry people. But I guess if the food is good, people are willing to walk right? Everything we ordered was delicious. The beef cheek reminded me of a melt in your mouth bolognese pasta. As for fish? Excellent quality, not fishy, and worth every dollar. A friend who lives in Honolulu turned us on to this nice sushi bar tucked away in a strip mall about 10 minutes from Waikiki. It's a good value but with trade offs. Food: Most of our food was above-average to excellent. The mushroom medley was perfect. The baby octopus appetizer was fantastic. But the sushi combo for $52was a mixed bag. Most of the sushi was good. I saved the tuna until the end, and it had a slightly "off" and acidic note. Drinks: Had Orion beer from Okinawa and it paired well with the sushi Service: OK service but here's a trade off. We ordered everything at once, and it all came out practically at the same time. My first 5 star! I love everything I tried! Flavors and texture were on point. I had the beef tongue which tasted like a slow cooked roast so soft and tender cooked to perfection. The best bone marrow so far on the island nothing fancy just basic but how I'd expect a bone marrow to be this is it. Crispy shrimp like the best pupu ever. Had a birthday dinner here tonight with my wife (her birthday), and it was great! We didn't order too much as we weren't as hungry as we both thought we'd be but everything we did order was delicious. We started off with the ahi tataki salad (refreshing) and ama ebi miso soup (the WHOLE ama ebi head included gave it that extra flavor). Then we had the sushi moriawase combo (variety of nigiri and tekka maki) and the rainbow roll (California roll with 5 different fishes on top). To end the meal, I had the ama ebi nigiri. You're probably wondering why 4 starts instead of the full 5 stars right? Well unfortunately they were sold out of the "hotaru ika" and "chuutoro", both from the seasonal menu. I really wanted to sample them but either I gotta get there earlier than 5:30pm or... check out another sushi joint to satisfy my craving. Been wanting to try Sushi ii out for a long time and finally had a chance to - on a Saturday night - last minute - 7pm walk in! Sat at the bar and got the omakase lineup. Lettme tell youuuu! It. Was. Amazing. The sushi chefs were local guys that really were catering to what tastes you like and what you preferred with some surprises, pleasant surprises! They say the usual amount of plates that a person gets is about 15 to 17 plates, but we were hungry girls that night and got a total of 21 plates! You can stop ordering whenever you want. There is no set min or max to omakase. There were a lot of white fish options. My favorites that I had there was the first time ever trying this fish called: Akamatsu also known as nodoguro. It's a fatty fish and sooooo delish!! I also enjoyed the Anago! But really everything was fresh and so Ono! The experience was definitely personable and the staff was catering and pleasant. With fresh sashimi being delivered to their restaurant every hour or so (according to our waiter), their sushi is definitely a must-try especially with their unique Edomae-style Omakase offering which means there's no set menu - the sushi chef continues to bring you nigiri pieces until you say stop. Honestly, who could say no to that? ORDER: Omakase - Chef's choice of fresh nigiri. Total price depends on how many pieces you end up eating. PRICES: Since the total price can vary depending on how many pieces and which type of fish you get, it's hard to compare with other places. However, every piece I got was extremely fresh and I don't believe it to be too expensive. AMBIANCE: Sushi ii has more of a traditional Japanese decor style, it's very clean, and quite spacious inside. This was one of the few places in Waikiki where we didn't have to wait. read more

The inside is small but I like that you can see the sushi bar. The place was already full 30 minutes past their opening. There is a small lot there was an attendant, I told them I was just picking up and they said I should be good they give 20 min free.
