Sushi Jin is seriously one of my favorite sushi spots! I've been here multiple times and everything is always amazing. The bento box is SUCH a good deal -- you get a great amount of food for the price and everything is always fresh and delicious. Their sushi is honestly some of the best sushi everrr, and the ramen is also sooo good -- creamy, flavorful, and always hits. The service is always great too! Everyone is attentive and welcoming, and the atmosphere is nice and comfortable whether you're stopping in for lunch or dinner. Definitely one of those places I'll keep coming back to again and again. 5/5 every time! read more

Stopped in because this sushi restaurant is close to Skyline, my home. I ordered a delicious JPop drink. I ordered a few different sushi dishes. Noted that they didn't have non rice folks, like Naruto rolls. I did have an issue with the sushi. There seemed to be a problem to slice a sushi roll evenly... pictures don't lie. I almost asked for a knife...No option for No WiFi to assist other quickly getting great reviews...Sharpen some knives, possibly do some more training with the team and put in some fly catching equipment.... I was sitting the farthest away from the restaurant kitchen and entrance and still had fruit flies visit me and my drink.... Fruit flies.... Didn't want to finish because I was concerned something got into the can as well... I asked to put in my order for teriyaki udon when I finished my meal and she said it was ready when I asked for the check. Odd. Before I leave the restaurant it's already warm... Sushi Jin is a great place to grab sushi and Ramen dishes for any meal. The atmosphere is casual, the portions generous and the staff are friendly and helpful. Stopped in for dinner a few weeks ago with my husband and we both enjoyed the sushi as well as Ramen. The menu is large and diverse; they also have chef specials. Hot tip, you can park in an underground parking garage just below the nearby Harris Teeter and take the elevator up to the street level. I will definitely be back. We got our New Year's Eve sushi platter from Sushi Jin Next Door in Alexandria, and it was amazing. Our order: 2 Jin's Yellow Tail rolls, 2 J Rainbow rolls, 2 salmon avocado rolls, 1 Orange Blossom roll, and 1 order of the 12-piece Nigiri dinner. The fish was fresh; the size of the nigiri and rolls were huge; and the presentation was beautiful. Plus, the young man who took our order couldn't have been more friendly. Freshness is the word. Everything was fresh. The customer service was estimate from the time we walked in being greeted and seated immediately. There aren't too many people in here right now, but it's also pretty early (11:30 AM). I would definitely recommend this place. The Chicken Ramen is good, and comforting. I have been here several times and have tried so many different sushi rolls! Some I would give an 8/10 and some 10/10 so overall very good and tasty and filling! There are also vegetarian rolls and I recommend the sweet potato rolls. I ended my dinner with mochi ice cream. read more

It's below decent sushi, nothing special. It's not get you sick sushi but definitely not "yummmmm mmmmm" or tongue curling delicacy. It used to be our go to spot but changes have been made within the restaurant. The sushi doesn't taste as fresh anymore, the sashimi tends to be a little slimy, yikkkkkessss, the shrimp tempura has old oil flavoring. We stopped getting the side salads for the sushi boat, the lettuce was yellow and bitter. The miso soup is watery thin and unhealthy. SO many things wrong. To start, the food just wasn't great and the service was slow but that's not the problem. We told them we had a seafood allergy and then on the plate they served was shrimp. Multiple things were on the plate that were not stated on the menu and this is alarming considering we told them we could not eat that food. When we asked for a new dish they were argumentative and then charged me for the meal to replace the first one. They have zero interest in fixing the situation and the manager was not even willing to talk to me when we asked. Despite staying as calm as possible, they gave attitude when we asked why we were being charged for the meals corrections. Given the issue, this place is simply not worth it. Sushi Jin is a local DMV chain with locations in Woodbridge, VA and Silver Spring, MD. I was in the area meeting up with some friends, who've dined here previously and I have to admit, that the overall experience was pretty good! I've literally walked past this place many times on my way to the next door Silver Diner, so I'm glad I had the opportunity to finally check it out. Located near the Bailey's Crossroads area of Alexandria off of busy Route 7, this Sushi Jin has a small-ish surface parking lot, but your better bet is to use the adjacent underground garage which also services the nearby Harris Teeter; and bonus that parking (at least for now) is free. Walking in, you immediately notice the "compact" and "efficient" (translation: tiny) interior. To the left is the open counter where the chefs are preparing sushi, and directly in front is the host stand and cashier station. We were seated along the wall, which is probably better and towards the back, which is preferred if you want to be able to have audible conversations and not have people constantly walking by inches from your table. Appetizers consisted of the chicken karaage and pork gyoza. Gyoza wrapper was pan fried to produce a nice crispy exterior. Decent amount of seasoned pork filling, but I found the accompanying dipping sauce on the sweet side - with sauces being overly sweet to be a recurrent theme throughout the meal. Chicken karaage was surprisingly good. Sushi Jin correctly using panko breading to produce a crunchy texture, while the meat stays moist. The dipping sauce was more reminiscent of mayo, but I added some of the tableside hot chili oil and it was fine. The sushi was prepared...above average...and for most sushi joints in the area, that's a win for me. The rice was properly seasoned with slight tartness from vinegar and not dry. The fish tasted fresh without being mushy, and the presentation was good with the sushi being tightly rolled so as to not unfurl when picked up with chopsticks. My only detraction is again, that the sauces drizzled on top, were way too sweet. The spider roll had good amounts of deep fried soft shell crab, but there was this odd sauce that was overly thick and tasted like molasses. The Burning Love roll had tuna, tobiko, and the shtick is it arrives at the table shaped like a heart with the center on fire, but the mayo based sauce on top, was you guessed it, on the sweet side. I forgot to take pics of the other dish - Chicken Teriyaki Don - but my friends seem to enjoy it and it was plenty big enough to feed two. If I'm back again in the future, I'm going to request that the sauces be on the side. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience at Sushi Jin. Servers were frequently stopping by to clear plates and refill water glasses, as well as to inquire about our meal. And during these inflationary times, I thought it was good value for your dining dollar. Meal for four adults, with appetizers, one entree, sushi courses, and just pots of hot tea for beverages with tax and tip came to around $130. read more

Salad: All fresh ingredients with delicious house made peanut dressing that was very light and enhanced the flavor of the vegetables rather than cover up. Each bite was crispy and refreshing. Miso Soup: Well prepared, not too salty, just the right amount to leave you drooling for the main course. Sushi/Sashimi: Start of the show. Chefs prepared it so elegantly and beautifully I almost didn't want to eat it. Of course when I did, each of my tastebuds climaxed in joy. They continued to chorus after I finished. The complex flavors of each sushi/sashimi bite lasted throughout the entire chew and aftertaste was so good it commanded a pause between the next OM-NOM-NOM-NOM! Flavors and textures were: rich, Smoky, Slightly sweet, soft, firm, custard-like, savory. There was a bit of everything and so well balanced I almost lost my mind in oral satisfaction. One roll tasted like honey mustard - but with actual honey and house-made mustard similar to Dijon but with slightly more spicy kick. Everything else being cooked up in the kitchen smelled so gooooooood! They really should have punch cards. We are regulars at Sushi Jin due to its location, quality food, fair prices, and excellent service. We usually order the chicken teriyaki bento. The quantity of the food allows us to take home the left overs and eat for dinner. The food is consistently good. The cooks and sushi chefs have been working at the restaurant for a long time and know what they are doing. On occasion we will also order sushi or sashimi, ramen or gyoza as an appetizer. The fish is always fresh and the gyoza is delicious. We are fortunate to live nearby this restaurant and probably frequent it once a week. A coworker introduced me to this place, and as a lover of sushi I was very surprised. The decorations and the way the tables are set up make you feel like you're in Japan. I got the sushi roll combo that lets you choose three different rolls and my coworker got the bento lunch special. Both came with so much food that it is definitely worth the price. The fish in the sushi rolls could have been more fresh but they all tasted good! The service was fast, but I will say that after we got our food he didn't really check up on us again and we had to flag him down to get to go boxes. Been here several times with coworkers, finally got around to posting about this cozy place. It isn't a big location but has plenty of seating and the staff are very attentive to everyone regardless of how busy it was during the lunch hour. They have a wide variety of sushi combinations to choose from so there is something for everyone and they also have cooked dishes as well incase you are not in the mood for sushi. The best part is that they have a vegetarian section catered to those that can't eat meat and the rolls were amazing. The sushi is the perfect ratio of rice to filling as I have tried other places where they add extra rice to offset quality of ingredients. We had lunch at Sushi Jin and while it's affordable sushi, I thought the quality of the fish wasn't what I expected. The portion size is admirable and service was good, so can't complain there. The interior reminds me of a sushi ya in Japan, with basic bamboo style booths and japanese anime decorations, which was great and adds to the ambiance. This would make for a good izakaya type spot where you just drink sake and beer all night and nibble on appetizers. I will add that the ramen was great. Very flavorful broth with hearty portions of pork and chewy noodles. I would definitely order the ramen again. Been here a few times, and I am happy for going. Their menu is extensive, and I don't know how they keep up with it all, but they do! The space is not huge, so be patient and recognize you'll be sitting very closely to a table near you. Space is valuable, and here, it is valued and utilized well. The menu - where do I begin? Well, I only go here for, yes, sushi, so I don't have much else to say about the rest of the menu. However, what I can say of the sushi menu is that it's diverse, unique, traditional, fresh and accommodating to all tastes. I have never had a roll here that I didn't like. Since I only eat veg sushi, this place is especially nice because there are more than a dozen different veg sushi rolls from simple cucumber roll or avocado roll to something fancier like the Veggie Futomaki or the Amazon or the April. Read the descriptions for exactly what ingredients are in your roll. Loved every piece I've eaten here and excited to go back one day soon. I also appreciate the generous portion of white pickled ginger they provide for you, because I love that stuff. It makes me so happy! The sushi is better with this delicious accent, and I have enough for all of my pieces to have plentiful ginger, yessss! The staff here are very efficient and very nice. The food comes out relatively quickly. The prices are fair. The portions are as expected. Parking is easy in the nearby deck. My favorite rolls are the April and the Amazon, but there are so many, you will find your own to adore. Edamame here is especially flavorful, but boy, does it get your fingers dirty! I was hungry for sushi while in town for the weekend and decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, our order got mixed up with another table and we ended up getting the incorrect items initially. After we let them know, they corrected the situation and quickly brought out the right order. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and the golden dragon roll. The shrimp tempura roll was my favorite. The shrimp was freshly fried and added a nice warm element to the roll, something I'm not used to with sushi. The golden dragon roll was also tasty and came with a nice sweet sauce drizzled on top. The presentation was excellent, this was definitely one of the more attractive displays of sushi I've seen. My wife got the yellowtail and rainbow rolls, and she enjoyed her food as well. Aside from the mixup with our order, which wasn't really a big deal, this was a great experience and really filled us up for dinner. I would definitely recommend stopping here for sushi, especially since it is a bit calmer than some of the places in the city of Washington DC with ample free available free parking available in the garage underneath the grocery store across the street. read more

Let me start by saying the nigiri is probably the biggest nigiri I have had. It is sweet, lush, and fresh. I am glad that I followed my friend's recommendation to come here. I came here with a coworker and we ordered the takoyaki and karage as the appetizer and I ordered the nigiri dinner. Parking was a bit rough as the garage would charge if you stay long enough and the parallel parking is sparse. I think the pricing was great and both apps were flavorful and fun to eat. I recommend bringing a light jacket as the AC is relatively strong. The service was great and gives a strong casual vibe. It would be a great place for a date. I've been to this sushi place before several times and tried to go Sunday night; they have it listed on Google that they close at 9:30 PM. We arrived at 8:45 PM. The "Open" neon sign was lit up so we went inside. We found three people at the front counter and a woman told us "I'm sorry, we are closing." I told them that they have it listed online as closing at 9:30 PM. She said: "We're only doing carry out because it would take too long to order and be waited on and all of that." I said that I didn't need time to order because I knew what I wanted, this sashimi entrée they have on the menu which is all salmon, maybe a large Sapporo can and that's it. My friend wanted the same thing, because we've had it before. The woman still said no and told us all they're doing is carry out now and asked if we wanted to look at the menu. We asked to speak to the manager about this but she stated that she was the manager. I worked in the service industry for a long time. For restaurants, or for retail, it almost never matters when the store closes. Sometimes people get in a couple minutes under the wire and get waited on and get to stay until they leave. I wasn't even asking for that. We arrived 45 MINUTES BEFORE CLOSING and thought we could at least be seated. We weren't trying to keep them there late, but even if we did, in the industry that happens all the time. I told them that they should put online that they close at 9 PM if they want to treat customers like this. We tried to make it easy for them even, by telling them what we wanted and we didn't need special time to order or anything. I would expect more than the staff of a restaurant acting like a DMV call center employee saying "I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do." I'm going to get a table, what am I expected to do? Come in two hours before closing???!! Absolutely unacceptable. Everybody needs to know that this place treats customers like crap like this. read more

Our new favorite sushi spot! We've had delivery from here twice, and it's been fantastic. They package the food with care, and delivery has always been quick. The ramen noodles are bouncy and chewy, the broth super slurpable without making you feel bloated afterwards. I got the spicy jin ramen, and it was really delicious. The amount of chasu is pretty generous, too. The roll creations here are also scrumptious! Our favorites are so far the Burning Love and Ex-Girlfriend. They are described as spicy, but was a perfect heat level for us. The Burning Love is really pretty with masago and red tobbiko with flaming spicy on top. The Ex-Girlfriend is quite unique with rice paper and the mouthfeel you get paired with crunchy spicy shrimp is really great. I'm super jazzed about this addition to our neighborhood. I'll be ordering many times over and hope to visit when things go back to normal after COVID! read more

Chicken was sliced chicken breast, that was dry d. Noodles seemed too starchy to me e. Broth had nice flavor I just felt that the chicken ramen was missing "extras" 1) No shiitake mushrooms to add 2) No tofu to add i. Just starchy noodles ii. dry chicken iii. egg "Tanpopo Ramen" in Newport News is the gold standard when looking for a good ramen spot in my opinion, and unfortunately I have not found it yet! The shrimp tasted old and for the California roll, I'm used to larger crab pieces not mix in Mayo based/cream cheese... it almost like they are trying to stretch it out. I understand that but when you say it's Japanese food and don't give me Japanese food that's when I get annoyed, especially the salt content was so hard that I could throw up a sodium mine or something smart I don't know, but it was just too much salt even though I specifically requested to lower the salt content and they were still actively trying to kill me, the sushi is just generic sushi and I'm pretty sure the people working or not even like remotely Japanese not even one guy in there was Japanese so like if you don't know what the food taste like why make I don't I truly don't understand I wish they would do better because I really really like Japanese food and this was not it. The spot was a cozy. It is not huge, but it doesn't feel cramped. My boyfriend and I had just left and as we head home, I just had to leave a review. The service was impeccable. They had a sign on how some of the servers do not know a lot of English and to be patient. It did not cause any issues for us or anyone else we saw in the restaurant. My boyfriend has a gluten allergy and I had ordered some rolls for myself while he ordered his food. A few minutes later, we had a waiter come up to us to double check with us and I have not seen staff this attentive regarding an allergy to check twice. So if any of the staff read this, thank you. The food itself was so good. I had two appetizers, the gyoza and fried chicken bun. Both were so delicious. I had ordered 4 rolls and I was stuffed after eating only 3 pieces. My boyfriend had the salmon don and whenever he gets this at other sushi places, they never give him enough rice to fill him up. This means he usually needs to get two. However, he has never been so happy when he saw how much rice he received in this dish to only having to buy one in our future visits here. Surprisingly good! We ordered door dash and got: Gyoza - I loved these! The dumpling was still chewy but with some crunch to it. The gyoza were actually connected by some kind of dougy fried yum Sashimi platter - SO MUCH FISH. Hubs couldn't finish it, it had nice variety (including octopus) and came with soup and a salad Hawaiian Bad Boy - Surprisingly spicy! The mango sauce has a real kick to it, recommend for folks who like to bring the heat Bohemian Rhapsody - This roll sounds weird, bulgogi with tuna, but it works. My favorite was a toss up between this and the above Chrunch munch - this was fine, I think I didn't like the ginger sauce as much as I thought I would Spicy Moon - Enjoyed!
