We were very impressed with the upgrade in atmosphere at Sugar Palm Thai. The dining area is very comfortable and attractive under the new ownership, but the food is still both delicious and beautiful. The servers are very pleasant and did a terrific job taking care of us during a night when they were understaffed. I'm eager to go back again soon to try out the happy hour specials!

Decent Thai place in a shopping center close to me. Pad Thai, pad see ew, duck, spring rolls and mango sticky rice ($10) are my go too's. I live anything with wide rice noodles, broccoli, and egg. The beef is hit or miss. I would stick to seafood. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful and authentic. They just renovated so it feels more upscale and the services reflected this fresh new look.

We were excited to try Sugar Plam for the first time. And our first experience did not disappoint! I like their signature dish, the Kao Soi Kai. This is a red curry paste containing pieces of chicken dark meat on the bone plus egg noodles. Also tucked in the bowl to the side of the paste is a mesh of fried egg noodles. Accompanying the Kao Soi is a little ceramic tray topped with sliced shallot, mustard greens and ground chile,. I do wish that the curry paste wasn't so thick. The Drunken Noodles with seafood is very good. Service is warm and friendly, with hearty good-byes from the staff. Unfortunately, the rest of the service has not been tip-top on our last two visits. Today our server was distracted by a toddler in her care and never checked on us after she delivered our orders. We never saw her again until she, and this is a big no-no for me, brought us the check before asking if we wanted anything else. We actually did want to try the Mango Sticky Rice and the Thai iced Coffee, but oh well. I'm hesitant to mention this final point, but the men's room was dirty with toilet paper strewn all over the floor. It was obvious it had been some time since it had last been cleaned. But having said that, we would like to give Sugar Palm another chance because our first visit here was truly stellar.

I was in the area and was looking for a place to sit down and have a quick dinner. I decided I wanted some Thai food and found Sugar Palm. The restaurant was quite empty except for one or two tables that were occupied. It didn't give me a great feeling, but it was a week night so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Service was quick and they came to take my order soon after I was seated. I ordered the kao soi from their menu which I enjoyed along with the spring roll that they brought out. Overall, the food was tasty.

My first time at Sugar Plam. All new renovations. Amazing authentic thai foods and the best service.

I so wanted to give this place more stars because I know it's an uphill battle after the pandemic...but I ordered for the first time there hoping it would be my new GO TO for Thai food in my new neighborhood. The food is good; not amazing but good. 1. The crab rangoons. I usually only indulge in this appetizer like once a year and I did today...so excited to have these and was very disappointed. I think they put ONE TEASPOON of the cream cheese/crab mix in each little fan thing. These are not crab rangoons. 2. The pad Thai was a large portion. Nice! But honestly I was hoping for a lunch sized portion/prices. They don't have lunch specials/sizes/prices currently! They may need to change this up as their competition in Shirlington T.H.A.I. Has excellent lunch specials ... SUGAR PLUM just needs a little tweaking!! And I will keep going for sure. Sorry for this not as stellar review today.

First time visiting since the new management took over, and I was thoroughly impressed! The service was incredibly accommodating, and the ambiance felt both welcoming and upscale--like dining in a high-end restaurant. The food was served in generous portions and was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be coming back!

The decor is bright with a modern feel. The server was very y prompt and polite. I had the steamed dumplings and drunken noodle. All very tasty. The drunken noodle was spicy but did not overpower the other flavors in the bowl. I will definitely be back

Me and my girlfriend came here after a long day of moving furniture into my new apartment across the street. This place was unassuming and had that atmosphere/feeling any other thai restaurant you've been to has. The fried shrimp spring rolls were so delicious we wanted more! The service was great and our drinks never were empty. Great place 5/5.

Is there gluten free soy sauce available?

There are gluten free options but they are typically items that wouldn't have soy sauce in the recipe. I haven't noticed soy sauce as a stand alone condiment - that wouldn't really be typical for Thai.

They walked us to our table and was so accommodating. On an extremely hot day like today (103F) it was refreshing to walk into a nice cool and nicely lit and decorated place. It was very relaxing. The parking was off the street and is free for 2 hours. There were plenty of spots available just at the front of the restaurant. We ordered the Whole Fried Flounder and the Massaman Curry with shrimp and for dessert the Magnolia Creme Crepe. I am partial to good Crepe dessert... and this place offered different selection. A plus! The food was freshly prepared and was very tasty. I would recommend trying this place out. You will not be disappointed.

4 stars for the food 4 stars for the ambiance…read more3 stars for the service on the water refills, which was sporadic at best. Last night I brought a couple of friends over to the Sisters Thai in Alexandria ... because I had had good experiences in the past. We were seated at our table of four, and had to wait 20 mins to be served water from the start. That was unusual - and although the restaurant was busy it was not packed, so the delay was odd. We ordered the food which was great - high recommendations for the branzino, the crispy eggplant, the roti curry and the mango & sticky rice. The water service was challenging; at one point during the meal when a server came to do a refill, she spilled the water on the table near the food dishes - apologized - but didn't clean up! (It was not a few drops - it was a sizeable amount that warranted wiping up since our group had to reach over for the food dishes in the center). She took off after right after spilling it - and didn't come back! So I eventually caught the eye of another sever and asked for the water to be wiped down. The evening went on - the meal really noteworthy ... but water was clearly becoming more and more of an issue - and this was critical especially considering that the roti curry was spicy! After yet another 20 minutes of trying to catch the eye of anyone with a pitcher I had to get up and request water from the bar area. So although the evening was pleasant it was somewhat disruptive with this lack of coordination - which is really is a basic of any establishment. I would go back again for the food - although I'm disappointed that I brought friends along to try the restaurant and the service was not as expected. As I write this I want to add that if it was a one-off with a water delay I would understand - but it was consistently overlooked, without a spillage being wiped promptly that started to create a less than satisfactory experience. Thank you in advance to the Sisters Thai for more training for their staff on enhancing the customer experience.

We eventually had to flag someone down just to get seated. The calamari looked and tasted as though it had been sitting for days chewy and rubbery. None of us liked it, so we sent it back. No replacement was offered, and it still appeared on our bill until we asked to have it removed. My cashew chicken had the same not-fresh taste. One sister had the peanut chicken and barely touched it, while my other sister said her tofu Pad Thai was decent. The cocktails were mediocre, and once they were finished, no one asked if we'd like another. Our water was refilled, but otherwise there was very little checking on our table.
