Wanted to get some sushi to go and saw good reviews on this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I was so glad I did! Even the picture doesn't do it enough justice, when I opened this meal I was genuinely elated by how good everything looked. Even better was that it tasted phenomenal. Everything was so fresh, you can just tell by the color of the fish. I can't remember the rolls I had but the flavor was really great and the portions were huge. I was not expecting it. Definitely recommend and if you can tell by the photos they have very nice packaging.

This place has great sushi and has been our go to spot for our sushi cravings in the DMV

I have been going to Sushi JIP since I moved to Clarendon, and I have not gotten sushi anywhere else since.Great selection of maki rolls, sushi, sashimi, and hibachi. Not only is the food at Sushi JIP phenomenal, but the staff makes the meal an experience. My boyfriend and I were one of Sushi JIP's first customers, and they are kind enough to send a free dessert as a thank you with almost every meal we eat in the restaurant. The presentation is intricate and beautiful. Definitely story worthy!

I came to Sushi Jip for dinner. I had sushi, hibachi. The dishes were very tasting and filling, I left with more leftovers than expected! You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu! The staff is also very nice and welcoming!

    SUSHI DELUXE

Easily and genuinely the best nigiri I've had in the DMV. The fish selection was top notch for the nigiri sets and they had very generous portions of fish. The fatty tuna was delicious and the shari was well-seasoned. Many places in this area have very little flavor in the shari, not here. Service was easy and relaxed with the button call system. It has a very relaxed atmosphere as well, not at all snooty. I will absolutely be back many times in the future. Great work, Chef!

The presentation!! The velocity!! The service!! Stack ranking the rolls, the crab was definitely at the bottom for me. The California sunrise was at the top and phenomenal. The holiday roll was interesting and sneakily sweet -- the red and green masago is fun touch! Spicy tuna and eel are always staples and classics. I second every person that said that this is the best sushi they've had in the area. Stopped by around 5/5:30 on a Saturday and was immediately sat (although the place filled up a fair bit by 6pm). It's not too loud, the place settings are adorable, and the artwork is calming. We paid $84 including 20% tip for a filling, delicious, and glorious meal for two. I can't wait to visit again!

Ordered the Sushi Deluxe. BEST SUSHI I HAVE HAD OUTSIDE OF JAPAN!!! I know that sounds crazy but the deluxe comes with 10 pieces of sushi, including fatty tuna (2 ways) and salmon belly. Also had chicken Katsu at the table which was quite good. A bunch of rolls, every one was happy. Excellent service. Decent prices(not cheap but fair) Highly recommend.

Best sushi in town! I have tried several places in Ballston and Clarendon and Sushi Jip has won my stomach. We had a reservation but arrived 30 minutes early and were seated immediately. The waiter was responsive and knowledgeable of the menu. The decor was cute and the restaurant was clean.

Firstly, I ordered a miso soup not thinking they would include it in my order for free so that was such a pleasant surprise! Not all sushi places do this. Aside from that, the main thing being the sushi of course was fantastic!!! I did not know what to expect when I found this place on door dash on a whim but safe to say I have now found a new go to sushi place for me since I just moved to the area. It was packaged fantastically well, the freshness of the fish was perfect and the special roll I got had the best flavor. Also think the salmon combo I got was the perfect portion and for a great price. I can't wait to order from here again!

Found my go-to sushi spot in Arlington! I placed a takeout order online, and the process was smooth and easy. The inside has tons of clean lines and natural wood decor. Can't wait to return, dine in, and order all the dishes!

Brand new Japanese spot that replaced Endo Sushi in the bottom floor of the apartment building that I live in Even though this place is replacing another Japanese/sushi spot, I am overjoyed that it is here as it is 1000X better than the restaurant it is replacing The menu is comprehensive and has a wide variety of both sushi and non-sushi options, the food is all presented beautifully, and it is all very tasty as well It is a little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it IMO People are very friendly as well Menu is on a QR code Both indoor and outdoor seating

This was the best sushi I've had in Arlington. I did get it to go so not sure about the dine-in service, but the takeout service was PHENOMENAL! They included 2 extra pieces of sushi and were so kind during the check out process. The sushi was wrapped beautifully and included a handwritten note from the sushi chef. The sushi was very tender and included a tiny bit of wasabi under the fish which was much appreciated--very authentic.

I've actually done the math totaling up how much we ate and what it would've been al le carte and it totaled to $400-500 total for two people so this is well worth it. The items I would highly recommend is everything off their wagyu tier, the wagyu fried rice, and their specialty rolls. Don't forget to end the meal off with some dessert as well. Instead of actually greeting me, and asking me to give them a moment, she looks up at me (not even the staff member on the phone) and raises her finger at me??? The audacity of that was plenty of fuel for the one star. As if that weren't enough, when the associate that was on the phone was done, her colleague looks at me and asked what I "needed"...I chose to tell her I was there to dine, again, standing there alone, and her response was, "I'm not supposed to automatically know that." Representing the restaurant in this manner let me know she didn't desire my business, or presence. I promptly let her know that I'd pass on dining there, and left your establishment. I don't care HOW good your food may be, your staff's customer service and attitude ruined the chance I was taking to try a new local establishment. I cut mine before eating. At $6, they are pretty decent value. Lunch Special Salad - 8/10 I loved the carrot miso vinagraitte on the iceberg lettuce. The only thing that would have made it better would be a nice crunch (toasted sesame seeds/wonton crisps) Shrimp Tempura Roll - 7.5/10 This is an elevated tempura roll with orange roe and eel sauce. Very filling as far as sushi rolls go. Salmon/Mango/Avocado Roll - 5/10 The rice layer on this roll was paper thin and the salmon tasted flat and flavorless, instead of that rich, buttery taste that high quality fresh salmon should have. On this visit, I noticed that the fillings are generous here but the rice is sparse/underseasoned on vinegar. I'd love to better appreciate the fine balance of the ingredients. Overall though, I enjoyed my meal. It is a strong spot and one that I would return to.

Everything was delicious. Service was very good. They brought the food in batches so you were not overwhelmed. Would definitely come back and highly recommend!

I finally tried Gyu-Kaku in Clarendon, and as someone who usually goes to KBBQ spots (especially…read moreMeat Project, which is still my favorite), I was curious to see how Japanese BBQ compared. First off, I do think everyone should try Japanese BBQ at least once just to experience the difference for themselves. We got the Premium AYCE option. It's advertised around $45, but after tax, drinks, and everything else, it definitely ends up being more expensive than that. We also ordered the lychee sake, which was really good and probably one of my favorite parts of the meal. One thing I really liked was the atmosphere. The restaurant has a nice, intimate feel because a lot of the tables and booths are separated, so it feels more private than your typical BBQ spot. The lighting also adds to the vibe and makes it feel cozy without being too dark. We don't eat pork, so we mostly focused on the beef options. Personally, when I'm doing all-you-can-eat, I don't really want to fill up on chicken or seafood. My biggest takeaway is that while there are a ton of different marinades and menu options, a lot of the beef cuts ended up tasting pretty similar to me. The differences felt more like thickness or texture rather than completely different flavors. Maybe I'm not cultured enough in Japanese BBQ to appreciate all the nuances, but that's honestly how it came across to me. At the end of the day, I think I still prefer Korean BBQ. For me, the overall experience isn't different enough to justify paying significantly more. I'd probably rather save $20 and go get KBBQ instead. One thing worth mentioning is that both of us felt pretty sick afterward. mostly nauseous and overly full. To be clear, I don't think there was anything wrong with the food. We probably just overdid it, which is easy to do at an AYCE spot. The standout part of the experience was definitely the service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the meal. Honestly, the customer service is the main reason I'd consider coming back. Also, sorry for the lack of photos. I was way too hungry and focused on eating to remember to take any. Overall: good experience, great service, tasty drinks, nice ambiance, but I personally still prefer KBBQ.

Have tried Izakaya Nana, Genki Izakaya and Super Kyuramen and been to Izakayas in Tokyo and Kyoto…read more I love that so many Izakayas have opened in the NoVA area. The bad thing about Genki Izakaya is how crowded it can be. I'm not sure I would show up without reservations again. I've been there 3 times, the first time we didn't have a reservation and the hostess seemed very hesitant to add us to the wait list. She said the waitlist was very long. We decided not to wait. The second time we also didn't have a reservation and the hostess again seemed very hesitant to add us to the wait list. This time we did wait and were quoted 1.5 hours and it actually took about an hour. Not as bad as quoted but still busy! Third time we finally had a reservation and it still took us 20 mins to get seated as they did not have a table ready for us. To be honest the restaurant itself seems too small, they probably could be twice as big. The reason is the food at Genki Izakaya is in my opinion the best of the 3 Izakayas in the area. The Yakitori is good, hot and reasonably priced although I wish they would let you customize the $20 Yakitori Platter. I tried the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Hot Stone and was surprised that they cook it for you instead of you cooking it yourself on the hot stone. The waiter overcooked 2 pieces of the Wagyu which is annoying when it is so expensive but overall it tasted great. I like their Tonkotsu Ramen, it broth tastes great and I've had ramen all over this area, in New York City, LA area, Tokyo and Kyoto. It isn't the best I've ever tasted but it is really good especially for this area. Once seated the service is good and the food comes out quickly and everything we've had has tasted great. The only problem is how crowded it can be because its so popular! Only bad thing for us is it isn't too close about a 45 min drive but worthwhile - definitely try it if you like Izakayas and Japanese food.
