Looking for sushi and comfort food? I still can't believe I hadn't tried Sushi Spot in Aiea sooner. This place was recommended to me by a co-worker and wow! It absolutely did not disappoint. Safe to say I'll be wondering why I waited so long! We ordered quite a variety and every dish brought something delicious to the table. The Red Spider (soft shell crab, crab meat, romaine lettuce, cucumber, avocado, and tobiko) was incredible. Every single bite was packed with flavor and texture. That crispy soft shell crab added the perfect crunch that made this roll hard to stop eating. The Black Spider (soft shell crab, crab meat, cream cheese, romaine lettuce, cucumber, and avocado) was an interesting twist from the Red Spider. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was equally delicious. The cream cheese gave it a richer, creamier bite that worked surprisingly well. Next up was the Chicken Katsu Curry. Japanese-style curry with veggies and crispy chicken katsu over rice. The chicken was beautifully crispy, exactly how katsu should be. Crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired perfectly with the rich curry. The veggies were cooked just right too. Overall, a really satisfying dish. The Spicy Ahi Handroll was another winner. You really can't go wrong with this one. It was fresh, flavorful, and honestly disappeared within two bites. Yum! Then came the Pork Katsu Donburi with scrambled eggs, veggies over rice, drizzled with their amazing house sauce. Just like the chicken, the pork katsu was delicious. But can we talk about that sauce? Perfecto. I'm not sure what's in it, but it tied the entire dish together beautifully. And of course, dessert! The Fried Oreo with Ice Cream. It came with vanilla ice cream surrounded by deep-fried Oreo and drizzled with chocolate syrup. It was yuuuuummy! Hands down, I would order this again. Do not pass up this dessert. From sushi rolls to katsu dishes and ending on a sweet note, Sushi Spot completely exceeded expectations. Great flavors, satisfying portions, and multiple dishes I'd happily order again. The Lion King roll was rich and flavorful, with perfectly baked fish on top and just the right amount of sauce -- indulgent without being overpowering. Each bite was warm, savory, and satisfying. I did alot of takeout before and it's always been consistent. Today, we decided to sit-in and just relax. Very cozy with a few tables spaciously apart. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. We had the Chirashi, Titanic Roll, and the Red Dragon Roll. The Chirashi is always good and the fish is always fresh. I like the slightly grilled shrimp on top. The Titanic Roll with Salmon leading the roll is excellent. The Red Dragon Roll is incredible with the crunchy tempura shrimp being the star. For a party of 2, this was alot of food. Mahalo Stretch, great choice for a snack before the airport. We arrived before the dinner rush and was seated right away. We wanted something not too heavy but just enough before the flight. The Sushi Deluxe Combo was a perfect snack for two! In a reasonable amount of time, this delicious platter was served. Quality slices of fresh fish, perfectly seasoned sushi rice, and this included hot miso soup and hot green tea. I appreciate when the tables and chairs are clean. We had to bring our youngest daughter for chiro appt and stopped by here for lunch. Amazing as usual. The server remembered us and I tell you, service is key. Their food is off the chart, at least for us. We really enjoy dining here and I have no complaint. Look, there are so many sushi joints but we enjoy the food and the service here. When my 11 year old tells me she wants to come back here, it speaks volume too. The ambiance is great. Small cozy spot, 6 tables or so and they play music videos on two screens. I'd strongly suggest making reservations for evenings. Plenty of parking and smiles throughout the whole dining experience. My go to sushi spot. We always order the sashimi special, titanic roll, spicy Camacho is really ono, mandoo (filling ratio is perfect), ama ebi. If I could, I would order more but we still had left overs. Was introduced to this place by my sister, and omg I'm so glad she did. It's one of her favorite places as well. Our go to is the crab tempura and Calvin's choice. The wife ordered the sushi and sashimi combo deluxe. And for dessert, the fried Oreos with ice cream. Oh my gosh, so good. Hit the spot! Everything was so good like always. The crab tempura, good. There's nice and there's Sushi Spot. A small sushi restaurant in Aiea ran by a family. They are so sweet, friendly, and pleasant. You can definitely feel the positive energy. Aside from free/complimentary water, their miso soup is also complimentary. If you are in the mood for pretty good quality sushi around Aiea, this may be an option. (But really there isn't much good sushi place on this side of the island.) It is a small place and not sure if you can make reservation. My husband got the Hamachi lover and he was pretty happy with it. I tried their 2 pieces shrimp tempura udon. Broth was on the peppery side but good. They do have other entrees like chicken cutlet, udon, donburi, etc if you're not a raw fish eater like me. Be sure to try their fried oreo with vanilla ice cream at the end. Great sushi rolls in Aiea! The storefront was an unassuming restaurant in a strip mall area. I expected spicy ahi bowls and sushi platters, but you could get Sansei level rolls here too! The shop itself was small, with a few tables and chairs and a bar area. The nigiri was good, but if you compare it to other izakaya's in town it's not quite the a same level. The rolls are what you should order and appears to be Sushi Spot's strong suit. This place offered sashimi and nigiri, but also had an assortment of Americanized influenced rolls like California rolls, caterpillar roll, and the rainbow roll. They even have cream cheese...I personally don't understand cream cheese with rice, but you uninitiated can get that. There are just so many roll combinations. It's overwhelming since there were so much to choose from. I usually get one roll with salmon, one with spicy ahi, and one with unagi. Service was great, like you'd expect from most Japanese restaurants. The take out was well packaged with a cardboard carry box. I've come here a few times. I've tried nigiri, the rolls, and fried stuff like chicken katsu and mandoo. Mandoo may not be Japanese but they make it good. Agedashi tofu is a must try and really good. Go for the fancy rolls! Location isn't that great because the restaurant is small so it can only hold a small amount of parties at a time and it can get pretty busy. The parking can be a hit or miss because it can fill up due to the other businesses located in the area. But if you go right when they open or right after lunch rush, then you're set! And to be honest, it is worth the wait. 2. The menu is HUGE. I personally like the variety, the pictures provided and the descriptions given. But I've gone to the restaurant with other people who say the menu can be a bit overwhelming. I recommend giving yourself a head start by looking at menus and pictures on yelp so you know what to order. Now, what's great about the restaurant? The portion sizes, taste, quality and service! The portion sizes are fair for the price and it's hard to order anything that doesn't taste good. There's are items for those that don't like seafood, but limited items for those that are vegetarian or vegan. But let's be honest, this is a sushi restaurant. The quality of fish is great for the price you pay. And the service? Top notch. They're attentive and pay attention to detail. You also get one free miso soup. The food comes out pretty fast so you can be in and out of there. But again, this is based on the times I've went and I've been there during lunch, lunch rush, after lunch, and dinner. Finally got to dine here. The menu was extensive with lots of sushi rolls. There was actually a lot to choose from. The waitress greeted us and brought out water and miso soup right away. Luckily it wasn't busy. I noticed that at the bottom of my clear cup, there were tiny white things stuck, and little bits floating around. The dishwasher didn't do a good job immediately. Here we are on Christmas Eve and looking to fill our bellies with yummy food. It's been over 10 years since we've been here and they're still here in the same spot. Interior looks different, clean and bright. And everyone inside is absolutely lovely, all are friendly and amazing. We were able to get a table for 5 very quickly. The kiddies shared chickens katsu plate and the adults shared a bunch of nigiris (hamachi, salmon, maguro and unagi) and a spicy tuna hand roll: The kiddies were extremely happy with the chicken katsu, licked up their plates clean. Not like some other restaurants where you would need lemon or not drink the water at all. I never write about water but this place just had something about it. This small restaurant is very busy. Lots of take out orders and lots of dine in customers. I don't think there is a time limit and there is no alcohol served here. It might be BYOB but I'd definitely ask first. Great place! I came here on my lunch break and the moment I stepped foot there, I felt welcomed. The staff there promptly greeted us and sat us right away. Within seconds of sitting down, we received water and miso soup to start with. The miso soups were complimentary which is rare but also a very nice surprise and service. We ordered spicy ahi hand rolls, Tobiko nigiri, unagi handroll, hamachi nigiri, shrimp tempura apps, and the kamikaze roll. Everything we ordered came out in a prompt manner. The sushi tasted so good. The hand rolls were good in portions, the ratio between rice and fish was perfect for me. In terms of ambiance, it was casual, clean and not too loud. They always cater to make food safe for my daughter, make her laugh, and spoil her with ice cream treats. The sushi by far is some of the best I've had because it's made with love and you can just feel the pride they have with their food. Everything has always been consistently fresh, not overly sauced, and VERY reasonably priced. We tried sushi spot for the first time for a coworkers birthday and really enjoyed it! There was a huge variety of rolls that were all very reasonably priced and all very delicious! We shared several different rolls and we all liked all of them. The service was amazing, the woman who was working while we were there was so kind and helpful and even brought us out extra plates and knives and forks when we brought out the cake we bought for our coworker. Sushi Spot in 'Aiea is such a gem. We arrived right at the afternoon reopening (around 4:45 pm). Besides us, there was another group of people being served. All the servers, including the cooks in the back, greeted us upon entrance. The servers tended to us as needed and were efficient! All the menu items seemed reasonably cheap and of high quality. The space is quite small but it gives off such a homey vibe. There are no restrooms in the establishment but ask for a key, and there is one outside. I would 100% come back! read more

I enjoy eating at this spot because the quality of their sushi is pretty good.... I normally eat at those expensive Japan quality sushi restaurants. However, when I just want a sushi with decent quality without breaking my wallet, I come here. It's a small establishment so if you plan to eat in, you may have to wait for an open spot. It's usually just one server and then a guy in the back making all the food. Many people do takeout from here too! On my visit here, I sat inside. Saw a review on IG and decided to give this a shot. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday evening so we weren't sure we would get in. It is a small restaurant with very limited seating. (6 tables) Lucky for us we were greeted with a smile and warm welcome as we walked in. She asked how many and we said six and there happened to be one table left open and it seated 6! As we looked through the menu she asked for our drink orders. Once those arrived she brought us each a bowl of miso soup. It was unexpected and really hit the spot. We ordered some shrimp tempura, four different sushi rolls, chicken katsu and for dessert fried Oreos with ice cream. The items arrived one by one as they were made. First out was the shrimp tempura. 2 pieces for a great starter with the miso. Next out was the crab tempura roll. Delicious. After that the chicken katsu came. Crisply fried and the sauce was great. The Kamikaze roll was next. May have been a favorite at our table. My selection was the Lion King. Delicious! The pieces are stuffed so full and high that you had to take two bites. So good. This roll is baked and the cream cheese left it so creamy I may have been wise to use a fork as the chopsticks made it fall apart. It was delicious no matter how sloppy it may have looked as I ate it. The last roll to arrive was the Mt Fuji. It was really good too. There wasn't a roll that we wouldn't order again. We are known for over ordering when we go out but believe it or not to our shock and amazement we ate every bite and had nothing left to take home. The dessert came out and everyone divided it up. Our waitress even brought us some extra ice cream to share. We didn't stick around any longer than we needed to bc there was a line of people waiting to have a seat and our table was in demand.
