Fuji is a great spot for groups and family dining. It took over the former spot of MBC (Monterey Bay Canners, where I have many fond memories of eating dozens of oysters), that unfortunately, closed during the pandemic. It's a suitable replacement for the time, for families to enjoy sushi or a Teppanyaki dinner "show". The layout has the Teppanyaki dining tables in the front as you enter, rather than at the back of on the side. I suppose it gives an air of excitement as you walk in and watch the chefs put on their show, but the level of "noise" it creates is a bit overwhelming if you're trying to enjoy a nice dinner with a date, or family and friends Our extended family (10 people) went there for an early (5:30pm) dinner on Saturday, before Father's Day, and were seated at the side room behind the glass partitions. From there, we could hear everything happening at the Teppanyaki tables, as though we were right there; especially when they sang "Happy birthday" about 4 different times for the parties enjoying their dinner. Just as a "heads up", I'm not against it, but it was really difficult for us in the other room to actually have a normal conversation across the table while ago that was happening. The food is pretty decent, with a wide selection of sushi rolls and other standard items. I'm not a big sushi roll eater, I prefer great sashimi and an occasional nigiri, but the rolls were pretty good, with several unique offerings. They have Oyster shooters and Uni shooters that come as 2 per order. There were 3 of us (me, my daughter and SIL), so we asked if we could just order 3, rather than 4, but sadly, no. It was fine, and someone in the group ate the other one, but I wished they would price it as each; as most other restaurants that have this item do. The sashimi was average, but it's more of a family dining spot, rather than a sushi bar. The service was good, and everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship. I may be tempted to come to try the Teppanyaki in the future, especially if I'm bringing my granddaughter for the show. read more

Super fun teppanyaki show and really good food! Our chef was super funny and was throwing broccoli squirting sake in our mouths. Everything tastes great, tons of butter and garlic on everything. We weren't a huge fan of the dipping sauces and we thought the meat quality wasn't the best but the fried rice and noodles were really good. You're greeted by the hostess and walk past the bar to the Teppanyaki tables or through to a different dining room for the regular menu. One of our favorite places to eat. It's always clean, even though food (broccoli) tends to go airborne at times The food is always tasty and the portions are great. They also have a variety of sushi options. What makes this place special is the people who work there, thanks to Allen (owner). All the tempanyaki chefs we've had are good but D (Dson) is our go-to guy. The waitstaff is also attentive and pleasant. This place tends to get noisy when it's busy and packed but that's to be expected and just adds to the liveliness and fun ambiance. They have happy hour drink specials and large screen TVs that normally have sporting events on at the bar. I finally made it to Fuji Sushi and Teppanyaki located at Pearlridge Shopping Center. Our group of five shared a teppanyaki table with another party of three. On the hibachi menu are a variety of choices including vegetable, chicken, NY steak, filet mignon, shrimp, scallops and combo options. The hibachi dinner entrees are accompanied with miso soup, tossed salad, hibachi noodles, shrimp appetizer, hibachi veggies, and steamed white rice. Our chef was lively and energetic and had us laughing from the start. He put on a great show and cooked up the hibachi orders perfectly. Some of our party were good sports and opted to get sake squirted into their mouths thinking it was just water. It was not. It was real sake which made us laugh even more. First time trying this place and it was a good experience. I went with a friend and decided on the teppanyaki since we haven't been to one in a while. We came near closing time so there was no wait. I ordered the vegetable option while my friend ordered the combo although they ran out of his first choice with the scallops. Our cook was awesome, friendly and funny. We came to Fuji Sushi & Teppanyaki to celebrate my grandma's 88th birthday, and it honestly could not have been a better experience. Our group was pretty large (around 30 people), and they were incredibly accommodating--seating us in a private room where we could all be together, close enough to actually celebrate and enjoy the moment as a family. That alone made a huge difference. The service was amazing. The staff was upbeat, attentive, and impressively efficient. Despite the size of our party, they brought out all of our food quickly and consistently, with no delays. Everything flowed so smoothly. As for the food--everything was a hit. We ordered a mix of sushi and hibachi plates, and every dish was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. The sushi in particular stood out as really fresh, and the portions overall were huge. Everyone in our group kept talking about how good everything was. Parking was also super easy, with a large open lot outside the mall and plenty of available spaces, which made things even more convenient for a big gathering. It was such a great experience that we came back the following year for a casual lunch--and it was just as good. Still my favorite teppanyaki on the island! This is my second time i dined here, this time with the family. The staff is great and the cooks are entertaining! I had a party of 14 tonight and everyone in the party had such a great time! They love the ambiance of the restaurant, enjoyed the food and entertainment. The food was delicious. We had the vip package for 2. It included miso soup, salad, steak, lobster, shrimp and chicken. We were stuffed. Next time, we will try the Teppanyaki. When you walk in, there are two sections. The teppanyaki area is loud and lively. My wife and I sat in the back by the sushi bar. When we sat down, there was as a sour smell. After some time, I figured out it was coming from the leather menu. The red star on the menu with the sushi rolls means it's special: deep fried or spicy. The appetizer, spicy tuna crispy bites, came out immediately. The spicy ahi inside did not taste fresh. The dancing dragon roll was plain and my wife decided not to eat it. We were there for my our son's birthday and his girlfriend's belated birthday..,it was his actual birthday today. Soft shell crab tempura (5/5): It was topped with seaweed salad and tempura crumbs. You can never go wrong with soft shell crab. Oysters (5/5): It was VERY fresh and served on a bed of ice. Otoro nigiri (5/5): They had a special going on 6 pcs for $45ish (or could be $65) but still a great deal! Super fresh and topped with FRESH wasabi. Uni (5/5): Very fresh! My husband ordered the filet mignon from the hibachi dinner entree options. He opted for the fried rice instead of white rice. It comes with miso soup, salad, and garlic noodles. He said the fried rice tasted good and was well seasoned. Our toddler really loved it. He really liked the filet mignon, and he appreciated that it was not dry.
