What can I say? It was all a bit underwhelming. I came expecting the classic hibachi spectacle, sitting around a giant grill, catching zucchini mid-air. Instead, I got a basic casual dining room with a football game playing over the sushi bar. It just didn't feel authentic. Credit where credit is due: the place is clean and the service is fast. Our food was on the table with in 15 minutes But the flavors just weren't there. The soup and salad started things off on a pretty bland note. My chicken hibachi portion was a nice size. It was fresh, but the sauce tasted suspiciously like Panda Express, and several pieces of the chicken were dry and chewy. My husband's chicken bento box hit the spot for him, but if you're looking for any hint of spice, you won't find it here. Even the wonton dipping sauce was incredibly mild. The food was amazing. We started with crab rangoon, and I couldn't believe how packed with crab and cream cheese they were. Best crispy crab wontons I've ever found. We ordered two rolls, Bad Daddy and Oregon Duck. When they arrived (right after the salad), they were huge! Two of us barely ate more than half. The rest, we took home and had for lunch the next day. I wanted to love this place. It is very friendly and the space has a good vibe for a strip mall location. This is the place you go if you really dont love pure sushi. The combos are creative, fresh and tasty, but it's sushi in disguise. It's gimmicky sushi. If you aren't sure about whether you like raw fish or you are introducing kids to the concept, then this place is a 5/5. As bonus, I appreciate that all 3 people who were on waitstaff when I was there in mid-afternoon acknowledged my existence, went out of their way to be friendly and checked on me while I waited for my To Go order. Our server was amazing, very attentive to always refilling our waters and asking us if we needed anything. Our order got taken right away, and the food was delivered shortly after. Two of our meals came with salad or soup, but there were four of us total, so our server brought the other two people complementary soup and salad so that they would not be excluded from the appetizer. About halfway through our meal, our server brought over a complementary roll (the daily special) and said that it was on the house and they just wanted to know if we liked the roll.
